  1. Ah man, I'm sad that I'll be missing Brandon by one day - I will be there on Sunday :(.
  2. Try Krita. GIMPs interface is horrible still and Krita is pretty awesome.
  3. I wasn't reading books for fun before my parents gave me the first Harry Potter book as a present. This all started it, I was through the book quickly and wanted more of it. Later on it continued with LoTR (first book, didn't enjoy) and then Otherland (great read, though you could say it's mostly SciFi), Drizzt and Discworld novels. The biggest pro of the Fantasy genre for me is that there's always much to explore and imagine. While some themes are well known and repeated in various series, there is at least the world building and magic (or whatever) that can make the experience interesting.
  4. I did not find Malazan's first book particularly hard to follow nor fragmented to the point that I didn't care about the 'main'ish characters. I had more problems with actually getting into book 2, which still rests on my kindle at page ~50. Series I was disappointed with... well, Lord of the Rings for one. I did not have any expectations for the likes of Panem or Sword of Truth, so was not disappointed by them being bad. Lord of the Rings on the other hand... thought it would be better.
  5. Reading Otherland book 1, awesome series, even if it has its lengths. One of the most believable worlds with a virtual reality social network, and fantasy on top of that. I still have to wait months though, till the German audiobook is done (gotta be consistent through a series + the reader of the book does a really awesome job). Actually there is always plenty to read, so waiting for books is not too horrible for me. Okay, except maybe waiting for future books of the Stormlight archive because that series is just the best for me.
  6. I'm snailing my way through Otherland 1. Awesome book series, but lengthy at times.
  7. Yeah I liked Gone Away World a lot, despite the mixed reviews it got in Germany. I definitely want to read his next works, too, some day... but time is an issue ^^.
  8. Awesome job on Kaladin and Jasnah. Nice to see high quality fanart about the Stormlight Archive. Shallan's eyes are a bit weird, could use a fix.
  9. I prefer to read at silence, because busy music or talking really take away my concentration. Ambient music is probably not that big of a deal when reading, but even so, reading in perfect silence or to the sound of raindrops hitting the window and walls is just the best for me. I don't really have any negative or positive book emotions attached to music - that's because I rarely read when there's music playing in the room. That being said, there sure are songs that remind me of good or bad times.
  10. - books (f.e. check out a big library in your region) - pdfs of university courses (you can google them) - tv documentaries (eventually informative youtube videos) - wikipedia - https://www.khanacademy.org
  11. Looking forward to the next book - hopefully the German audiobook does come out in a reasonable time frame, since its reader does an awesome job.
  12. Having fun with family or Dota 2 are good remedies for me. Or just read an awesome book, draw or listen to good music.
  13. Yeah same, excepting a little experience with an AIPTEK tablet, I only used Wacom tablets. They are durable and accurate and the pen does not need batteries. So I was really satisfied with them and feel no reason to change. Only thing that could change my mind would be similar level of quality to a much cheaper price, but so far I have not seen that on the market. Normally you won't even have a problem to find a good auction offer for wacom tablets on eBay, since they're very durable anyway, so buying slightly used ones normally is not a problem.
  14. PC for me, has the most interesting games (esp. Dota 2) and a huge games library (especially if you count the old video game platforms you can emulate). Chances are you'll probably need a PC (or at least tablet) anyway to do some writing work at home - might as well add 400-500 euros on top and get a multimedia PC for decent performance or more, if you want to be ready for VR. Current consoles just don't offer anything over PC, except maybe a tiny bit easier maintenance of the OS. On top of that, PCs also offer extensive multimedia functions (drawing, editing and managing photos and movies), extended community features for games like modding or just a decent chatting in MMO games, and interesting innovations are on the horizon (Steam Controller, Occulus Rift).
  15. 1) Stormlight Archive ... 2) Lightbringer Series 3) The First Law 4) Discworld 5) Harry Potter
