  1. I think for a while I'd go into business as a faith healer or aura clenser. Simpler to get peoples Breath in a one to one setting like that, especially if they are the type to belive in auras in the first place. Just convince them to trust me, get their Breath, explain the light show as being 'the inbalanced aura' and do some mojo to pretend I gave it back clean. I think I'd also do paintings, maybe really build myself up in that community for a few years/decades. Build a bit of a cult of personality. Then one day, I vanish (that apperance changing thing would be soooo useful!) I think music for my second life. Then back to the 'auras', I'd swap back and forth for maybe a century, building up my religion into something semi-respectable. And Then I reveal myself and my undead squirrel armies. (or maybe cows . . . dead cow is pretty easy to find after all . . .)
  2. Maybe the act of crossing back over magnifies or multiplies the size of whatever breath they have? So then they get one super breath. But zero times zero is still zero.
  3. Hello, noob butting in a bit. Given that a drab god is theroetically possible, (because the author said so) does that imply something about the creation of Lifeless? Could you draw out the process of dying enough that someone might begin the Lifeless transformation while you were still barely alive? There is just the one command but it is fairly long as commands go time runs different on the other side of death. Might a dead person, who can see the future becasue they are dead, see a need to return specifically as a Drab God? Which begs the question, what would a Drab God be good for? the Point of gods, as I understand it, is that they saw something that would happen that they could not allow to happen. So the sent themselves back and then at the proper time the get inklings or even a complusion to fix whatever it is and head back to heaven or whatever it is called. . . . wait a sec. A drab God wouldn't be drab for long, the priests would just feed it an extra breath, wouldn't they? But would that help really, the Returned have one superbreath that pushes them up to 5th awakening, I don't remember how many normal breaths that is but it's quite a few . . . Ooh I can picture a kind of Mayan or Incan Expy culture where any new Returned might be fed to The Starving God. After each meal the god can do one miracle and then eat a breath a day until a new returned comes along, Or he can hold onto the superbreath and slowly digest it over a few months or years. Of course if he left it too long then it wouldn't be a very powerful miracle. I kind fo like the idea . . . But I have no idea if it fits with the mechanics of Breath. We just don't know enough.
  4. I have a feeling that Seb's priests know whatever it is, but a good portion of them are dead now. I'm sure they wrote it down, but they would also want to keep it as secret as possible. Soo maybe it's encoded into something? Or it could just be written down someplace, the priests were sneaky, but maybe not that sneaky. Also I'm pondering the Royal Locks. The fact that they can only, Only, ONLY, be passed by a Royal has some implications. Whatever passes the Locks can read power, not just power really, but Kingship. Is this a case of true Divine Kingship? Or does it have something to do with the various pressures of belief on the royal family? I mean it's been a few hundred years, more than enough for the trait to have been influenced by the people's belief in it.
  5. I don't know about the kingdoms uniting just yet. I think it's going to need a few more generations of intermarrige for these two countries to relax around each other. It's good that Seb so obviously loves Siri though, that sort of imagary can be very powerful, if couched properly. I'd like to see some of Siri's other siblings, perhaps the middle monk one (hereafter known as mm) can come visit? The heir is obv. not going anyplace and they've lost Viv, but I can definatly see some interesting situations with such a devout Austerean coming to visit. And don't forget, this whole gambit pileup/war has been a Pahn Khal conspiracy. I can see that turning very nasty, how deep does the betrayal go? How willing are the Hall-ers to look past/forgive what might have been disastrous for them? I bet there are reprisals, even if Seb and Siri want to go easy. Which brings to mind the question of how much everyone actually knows about what happened. According to the general population the lifeless go marching off North and then a bit later those statues come to life and chase them all down! Now bringing stone to life, that much stone too if most certinaly the work of the God-King, but why? Obv. someone got the Lifeless under their control. That everyone knows, it would be hard not to, how much else of what happened is actually known to the city at large? I assume the various priesthoods are gossipy enogh that most of them have the basics at least. With Lightsong and Blushweaver gone, I'm not sure you'll find any other gods who we can count on to be interested, but maybe Seb can shake them out of their complacency. I could see Hall-ers and Idrians as a whole backing up and shaking their heads saying, 'did we nearly just do that?' but not for too long, not longer than a year, are Seb and Siri savvy enough to take advantage of that grace period? Or are they too busy staring into each others eyes? I'm not sure I like Viv dissappering like that. At some point Siri will get in contatct with her father, but Siri doesn't know much of what happened either. Perhaps Viv could consider a farewell letter or something? And at some point will we get to know what The girls Father was actually thinking? Was it really just, 'I can't send my favorite'? What does he think now? Arguably the deal kind of worked out, at the price of the daughter he was planning on 'losing' and the one he wasn't sure what to do with he's probably going to get some very concilitory and 'heartfelt' advances from the Hall-ers wanting to tie themselves to the country of their new queen. I predict some very nice trade agreements. This is too long and I've still got ideas so I'm going to stop now before I end up writing a freaking essay . . .
