I’ve never thought of soulcasting a person as forceful savantism, but it makes sense

Spoilers for RoW... Why did Syl forget?
Kendelian replied to HathsinFlames's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think part of it was remnants of the damage she sustained when her first Radiant died. -
Yeah, that’s what I’m getting at

Both Talenel and the Hoed tend to repeat the same phrase or sentence without any real thought behind it. But Talenel speaks a full monologue of what he would say to a broken society. I feel like this theory fits too well for it to be just a coincidence. In addition, when Raoden used Aon-Dor in front of one of the older Hoed, that temporarily brought him out of his stupor. A similar thing happened when Dalinar opened Honor’s Perpendicularity, something that either reminded him of his true self or gave him a more solid mental standing.

Where did the parshendi do get their shards?
Kendelian replied to The Stormfather's topic in Stormlight Archive
My initial reaction was dead listener spren, but that doesn’t seem likely because the spren abandoned the listeners pre-Recreance. But the possibility of the listeners finding them out in the wild, dropped by some unfortunate Shardbearer, seems unlikely but possible. The theory of Radiants directly giving them to the listeners or just abandoning the Shards in their territory is one I like. -
My guess would be that it could be possible if you tamper with Connection, which may be possible with Shardic influence or hemalurgy

I think it might be possible to survive having part of your soul ripped out of you with the help of someone who can bind the surge of Progression. I think this because in interlude I-19 isn’t WoR, we read about someone revive someone who was mortally wounded via Regrowth. I think that something similar could be applied to someone stabbed in the heart by a hemalurgic spike. I’m unsure if the spiritweb can be mended in a similar fashion, however.

Interesting idea. However, we should keep in mind that the Radiants get their power from the Nahel bond, which I believe used the Surge of Adhesion. The problem is that Odium cannot bind that Surge, so these orders would likely arise from either a modification to how Odium makes Fused and gives them their powers or it would originate from corrupted Radiant spren. The first one could arise from developments with the Shard of Odium in RoW that I won’t go into details over due to spoilers.

I’m not going to quote this whole argument, but one massive flaw with Radiant assassins is the First Ideal, specifically Life before Death. That would directly interfere with killing unless it was required for their oaths or demanded to maintain the general life and/or wellbeing of the many.
-
One problem with that is that the Radiants will still be bound by oaths, so Life Before Death would interfere with that

What do you think certain Orders of Knight Radiant would do in our society. Like, Windrunner and Skybreaker police forces and Edgedancer therapy clinics.

What effects would a corrupted spren have on a listener form?

Time to bring everyone from D-Class to 05 together on the Shard!

Who is the God of Who (whom???) ~SA Spoilers~
Kendelian replied to Nogo's topic in Stormlight Archive
Honor said that he was what humans called God. He never proclaimed himself as a god. I think that, aside from Scadrial, Adanolsium (or however you spell that name) created all of the humans in the Cosmere. -
Stormlight Archive 5 Theories (spoilers for all)
Kendelian replied to Stockman's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Lift’s ability to synthesize Lifelight and her ability to interact with Dalinar’s visions are both an intentional or unintentional result of her interactions with Cultivation. Also, I don’t think that Radiants can bond several spren. -

I really dont know a lot about the Masons, but i dont think it is a riff on the Masons. The cult is trying to bring back the Silver Epoch, a time when sorcerers ruled the land, a time when their society, culture, and technology are all magically enhanced. But their oracles foresaw a calamity unlike what any had seen. A calamity caused by the magic. So, in order to prevent said calamity, they destroyed their libraries. All but one that they hid so well that they forgot about its very existence. A thousand years later, a group of scholars and historians started to research ways to bring back this time of magic, and upon the discovery of the forgotten library and decoding of the dead language, they learn of a way to use magic for themselves, using a silver device, referred to as a sangumantic amulet, and a sample of a magic-born’s genetic material, typically blood, they can utilize the long lost magic.

So, a major plot point for this story that I’m making is that there is a secret group of scholars that are trying to emulate ancient magic. The magic is hereditary, and any genetic material can be used to channel the magic into another user who wasn’t born into the magic. They plan on kidnapping a person who was born into the magic and steal their blood to help them use magic. The title of the story is going to be the name of the scholarly group. Do you have any ideas for a name on that?
