  1. The happiest of birthdays to you!

  2. I really enjoyed this book! Personally, I'm very old fashioned and feel a need to hold a book and physically turn pages to enjoy it. I had previously read the graphic novel and enjoyed it so when I heard that this was coming out as an audio-only entry, I was initially pretty disappointed. So as my first audio book, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Honestly, it's turned me on to audiobooks and I just started Wells' Zero-G series which, while for a younger audience, are also really enjoyable. There were some amazing moments in Dark Ones: Forgotten for me, though I will admit that a few aspects of the end seemed a bit rushed/ not entirely convincing to me (Sophie's decision at the end). But overall, I really enjoyed it and need to go back and re-read the graphic novel again. Looking forward to the second installment of the graphic novel as well as the Dark Ones novel. I think this audiobook shows the potential for some really interesting storytelling in this world!
  3. Mistborn was my first Cosmere book too and really, one of my first attempts into epic fantasy (other than LOTR). Definitely holds a special place!
  4. Welcome to the 17th Shard! This probably isn't the most popular of opinions, but with the Stormlight Archive, honestly I feel like I've liked each book even more than the one before it. And that's starting with a really deep love for The Way of Kings. And I can totally understand the feeling towards Tolkien. Personally, I enjoy the LOTR books, but they're not nearly as easy to get into as I think many people assume given the huge commercial success of the movies. Either way, welcome and looking forward to hearing more from you!
  5. Love that story! That's so cool. Welcome to the Shard! Do you have a favorite Sanderson story/series?
  6. Excited to have you here! Have you read any of Sanderson's books? If so, do you have a favorite??
  7. Yeah, I feel like the in the descriptions in the book he's described as young, handsome, pale, dark hair. But I think they also describe him as pretty slim--so you're right Cavill doesn't quite fit the slim category. He may be too bulky for Lord Ruler. I love him for Kelsier too! Haha, I just want him in the movie/TV show.
  8. That's so exciting! I haven't started Tress yet...I'm holding out for my physical copy. But I feel like I've only heard amazing things about it. Otherwise, what is your Cosmere world?
  9. Welcome! I've only been here a few weeks, so just starting out. I'm currently finishing up RoW and then need to read the second Mistborn era and the Secret Projects as they come out. Everyone seems to be loving Tress, so I'm wicked excited. I agree with you, SLA is my favorite series, though I have a very special place in my heart for Mistborn!
  10. I agree with @Witless of Shinovar. Both are great, but if you're familiar with Roshar, Nalthis is the perfect next stop!
  11. Welcome! Hope you continue to enjoy the Cosmere as you get deeper into it!
  12. Welcome! I loved Way of Kings! I'm a couple hundred pages away from finishing Rhythm of War now. Honestly, I every envy that you still have the chance to read the first era of Mistborn for the first time. It's such an amazing series! Enjoy!
  13. I love Jenna Ortega as Vin! Also, I know it has been thrown around some, but I think Henry Cavill could make a sick Lord Ruler! Plus, he loves Sanderson's work so I think he would bring a ton of passion to the role.
