*to be read in an 60s/70s all American commercial accent*
“this rusting reputation limit!”
How many times have you heard yourself thinking these or similar words? Will you support the proposition of moving the rep limit to 40? The number is low enough to hopefully prevent manipulation but high enough we have some more freedom.
If you read that first statement and thought something along the lines of“*scoff* I’ve never/rarely reach the rep limit” OR “I don’t really use the reputation feature much” OR “I’m confused”
then why don’t you support this movement also? It will not affect you negatively in any way and for those of you who suffer from “Ican’tgooverthelimit-o-phobia”perhaps you will use the wonderful feature our Mods provided for us without worrying about reaching the end of your point spending abilities!
reply to this SU with I’m in (or something along those lines) to support this movement today!
I am going to post a topic in the 17th shard discussion asking the mods about this (politely) it would help if I had supporters, or at least people who were neutral.
I will quote you in the topic.
feel free to tell me if you are against this/ think it is a waste of time/ bad idea! I will accept all feedback, and at the moment I don’t even know if anyone cares about this issue. I will quote you also to show that it is not just a thing that everyone wants done.
PM me if you don’t want your opinion public however be warned I will still mention you in the topic but just as a Sharder who wanted to remain Nameless. This SU will most definitely not reach the majority of the shard, if you know any Sharders who are interested in this please refer them to this SU.
The topic will take a while to construct and it might not be up until Saturday because I will be busy with my moms birthday. If you really don’t think I should post it you probably have until tomorrow morning.-Cin

they used to be regular people?
I'm of the opinion that mods are still people. Though, it would be interesting if they were cyborgs... -
I meant ‘regular people’ in the sense that they were (and still are) Sharders/Sanderfans just as you and I before the gained the coloured text under their names.
Sorry, that was poorly wordedBut I wouldn’t rule out the cyborg theory…

Hey, I’m doing Jazz in voice! It’s super fun! I get to improv and I love the sound. It’s awesome! I actually decided to do it because of your enthusiasm about Jazz, so thanks. The song I’m doing is a version of ‘Dream a Little Dream of Me’

I am so tired because we got up at 4 am to get to the airport but I am super duper excited!

That's a wild ride there mate. I remember when I was at school and uni, I had myriad extra-curricular activities on the go and my academic performance took a hit.
Be careful to set aside enough time for yourself to get your work done to a good standard and also to just relax.

Sorry this took so long, my internet went kaput
Anecdote time!
Okay so mini me was very nervous. It was my first day of secondary school (it’s an Aussie thing). We had done some icebreakers in the morning, your usual orientation stuff, but we still needed to meet our core subject teachers. We had English next and everyone was worried because we knew that there were some really mean strict English teachers. We all stood behind our chairs and in walks this young man with a curly manbun, and a very vibey outfit (full three piece suit with a fun tie and sweater, 100% eccentric English teacher vibes) there is not a hair on his face, walks in and puts his stuff on the desk. Everyone is like ‘who is this? He can’t be our English teacher can he?’ then one kid (his name was Josh, we had three joshes in my class that year) says ”who are you?” THIS MAN jumps on the spinny chair (on his knees) spins around until he is level with Josh, stands up, puts one arm up like he is holding a fencing foil and exclaims “I am Inigo Montoya, you killed my father! Prepare to die!”. That was the best introduction I have heard to this day. It immediately killed the tension in the room.
But Cin! This has nothing to do with hyperbole! Ah yes, but I thought it was important you were introduced to the man who tells this story so you can understand the style and flair with which he told it (he also did voices, he was great at accents and one time we managed to convince the primary kids that he was a French exchange teacher that didn’t speak English, but that is a story for another time)
So the class went on, everybody loved him and we were learning about persuasive language techniques and Mr. – writes “HYPERBOLE” on the board. Then a boy named Jonah goes “hyper-bowl, huh?” Mr. - swings around and says in the most nasal-y old man voice “It’s Hi-per-bo-lee”. Then he goes, well, I suppose I owe you the story now I say “What story?” and he goes “Well, when I went to high school I did Latin, honestly I only took it for the extra marks and because it was nearly the only time I could see [insert his now wife’s name] because our school was divided into boy/girl sections, anyway, my Latin teacher HATED when people said hyperbole wrong so we would always do it just to annoy him, the people in my class would always ask him if things were ‘an example of hyper-bowl’ etcetera and he would always respond ‘It’s Hi-per-bo-lee’ ” he went to recreate a scene of him being a rowdy student abd asking the teacher about “hyper-bowl” it was HILARIOUS
So that is what I forever associate the word hyperbole with. This guy and our drama teacher are the best teachers in the whole school (that I’ve had). Mr. – was the one who introduced me to Sanderson and lent me his Stormlight books when I finished Mistborn. He is he reason I love English as much as I do.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
I put in an order for the Warbreaker Leatherbound!!!!!
How did this come to be?
Thanks for asking, I’ll tell you. So I was at the Grand Canyon and then I had to go back to my Grandparents house. We got in the car and my dad said “[my name] if you don’t talk for the entire drive I will give you 100 bucks”See I am a very talkative person and he didn’t think I would make it ten minutes, but I was determined. You see I really really wanted a Leatherbound. You should not come between a bibliophile and their books, besides I can be very stubborn.
8 1/2 hours later I’m 96 (long story) AUD richer.
I wonder if you can guess what I did with that money? Was I responsible? No. Did I put it in the bank? No.vDid I donate it to our church? ( well 10 percent but no)
I bought a $159.26 book. I’m so happy!!!!!!!!

Well I am proud to say that I have temporarily relieved the ElDorado public library of all its Brandon Sanderson books. I borrowed the WoK audiobook, books 2,3 and 4 of Alcatraz, (everyone needs a good dose of middle grade in their lives) , and Arcanum Unbounded. I just returned the first Alcatraz book and Skyward, the latter of which I have not read yet because I got it for Christmas.
I am quite appalled in the few Sanderson books they had, it’s a tragedy (just channeling my inner Melody)
A kid has to be prepared if they are going on a road trip to Texas is my only defence. Besides I can’t get the Alcatraz books (barring the sixth) in my country, if I’m in the US I may as well make the most of it!

I take a breath. The air is hot and stuffy. It feels like less oxygen and more sweat. There are bodies pressing up against me. I take another breath quick and shallow. I can no longer feel the bodies, it is just one hot mass squeezing me on all sides. The mass is jumping now, up and down. It forces me with it my head hurts with the noise pounding it my skull. I can feel the bodies again. I am shoved from one person to another ricocheting like a pinball. My toes are trampled and my shins scraped and kicked by legs from the bouncing mass. I try again to breathe but the moist hotness in the atmosphere is overwhelming now. The air won’t fill my lungs. I panic as I continue to be buffeted around. An elbow to my ear stings and the pain pushes me over the edge. My breath won’t come now I open and close my mouth but now even the hot air won’t come. I squeeze my eyes shut. My head pounds and the screaming mass seems to writhe and squirm around me, everything feeling rancid. It feels like this oppressive feeling will never end. Then the music and yelling fades, I open my eyes and think the mass sinks down around me and I am left standing isolated. I try to breathe again, I am relieved at the tiny raged gasp of hot air that greets me. That’s when the hand reaches out. It grabs me and tries to pull me down again. I feel the panic start to steal my breath again. I steel myself, tears coming to my eyes as I strain against the cold gripof those fingers. I strain to keep myself upright, pulling with all my strength. My breath is gone again. I am completely and utterly alone all I know is the deafening silence and my struggle with that cold hand. Then, it breaks. The hand’s hold on me is severed and the mass around my ankles fizzles into nothingness. The next breath I take is cool and clear, my headache fading, I blink. It’s gone. I am safe.

That's pretty scary
-
Yeah it was. It was over pretty quickly so that’s good but my feet, shins and mind bear the marks of my terror, fleeting though it was. I think I might have anxiety but idk. Anywayyy happier stuff… puppies , kittens, the smell of old books, a warm fire in winter, the cold adrenaline you feel when you’re on a stage about to perform, sunshine, dew in the morning grass.
im all good :]

1. My Biology SAC (the thing that has been giving me grief for the last two weeks) is done so ... Booyah!!
2. Today is the first day of the Australian spring school holidays so … Booyah!
3. Oh and of course, last but not least: TODAY IS MA SHARDIVERSRY!!! Woooooooo!!!!!!!!!! I’ve officially been in the Shard for a year (and a day because tIMezOnEs) … Booyah!
I’m so incredibly grateful for the time that I’ve spent here so far and the people I’ve met! The shard is a wonderful place full of incredible people and art and theories and RPs (sometimes when I’m bored so just read through a RP like it’s a book) You guys have helped me so much with stress, life and everything and I really hope I’ve helped some of you guys a fraction as much.
Thank you for an amazing year, Here’s to many more!!!!
