  1. I agree with you completely. After several rereads I have grown to appreciate Amaram more and more. He's not among my overall favorites, but I see him as someone with good intentions who was heavily misguided. To the point that his ultimate fate is one of the saddest in the cosmere. If it wasn't for the outside manipulation he could have turned out to be a true hero, unfortunately he took the wrong path. I also feel similarly about Moash, in fact I feel that way about every villainous entity in the cosmere. They're all just a product of one bad day. Makes them much more complex and interesting and that's why in order to list my favorite characters I gotta split it up between heroes and "villains" (of which I don't believe there are any truly evil characters in the cosmere... Except people like the Cinder King I guess). The "good" guys 1. Kaladin 2. Hoid 3. Vin 4. Dalinar 5. Pattern 6... Lopen, Kelsier, Adolin, Shallan, Jasnah, Wax, Aux, Nightblood, Teft, argh too many fantastic characters! Now for the "bad" guys 1. Lord Ruler 2. Amaram 3. Odium 4. Moash 5. Captain Crow? Enchantress? I dunno, cosmere needs some more bad girls I think List is subject to change on any given day, aside from Kaladin who is locked in at #1.
  2. Decided to reread Yumi and this line in the very first chapter stuck out to me immediately, since I didn't remember this detail about the hion. I just assumed it was silent. So is the hum the rhythm of this specific Investiture or do you think there's something else going on here? Like can you hear other forms of Investiture the same way? Does Stormlight make some kind of soft whooshing sound if you listen closely enough? Could you hear Breath while it's in the process of transferring, etc?
  3. I don't think Aux will return from his sacrifice, but luckily we'll still get to see him again once Sigzil stumbles upon him in the present timeline. Can't wait! I'm amazed at how attached we all got to this spren who we never even knew before this book. He already cracked my top 3. 1. Pattern 2. Windle 3. Auxillary
  4. We don't need two inquisitors with practically the same name. Moash and Marsh, that would be too confusing for people like me who only read the first letter of a name. I can't tell you how many times I've mixed up Wax and Wayne for that reason. Although I guess it helps that the former two are in different worlds (for now).
  5. That would explain why I love Lopen so much, Tigger was always my favorite! We might as well make this the Lopen appreciation topic, gancho.
  6. I think TSM was subtly letting us know that Kaladin actually survives for a long time. Which makes sense when you consider that Brando knows how loved the character is and how devastated a good portion of his fans would be if he was killed off.
  7. I get mixed results from the test every time I take it, probably based on which part of my personality is currently in most control lol! Overall though I'd say I align most with Windrunners, I like protecting others.
  8. I've watched through HxH like 20 times by now! It's my favorite anime right next to Yu Yu Hakusho, which is also made by Togashi. Killua and Hiei should team up some day. I don't know how it would happen but I wanna see it.
  9. Yeah Lift is fine, she grows on you as she progresses in her own personal growth. She is definitely annoying at first, I agree, the first half of Edgedancer was tough to get through for me on my initial read as well. I think Lift is an excellent character, but as far as favorites go she wouldn't be in my top 10. Wyndle might be though!
  10. This is true, although you'd probably have to go back for a reread once you are all caught up on the the other books. There's some juicy secrets hidden away in Tress that you won't be able to fully appreciate without prior cosmere awareness.
  11. Moash is a great character, he's a terrible person sure, but a great character. Anyway I was about to vote for Teft but Lopen really won my heart in Dawnshard. Easily one of the funniest characters, and I relate to hiding behind jokes.
  12. That would have made it too obvious. And it can easily be handwaved on the notion that she was heavily distracted and not paying attention. I'm convinced now that they are indeed Skybreakers. On the note of their flight being achieved in a different way: a skilled Radiant has more refined control over the surges, making their flight look more natural. I'm sure they could also imitate the flight trajectory of a coinshot with some practice.
  13. Yeah it makes sense that Kel is just lying to keep up appearances. Likely fearing that people won't follow him if they believe he has no actual power. The question then is, how does he keep this hidden? Surely other Ghostbloods would have tested him in some way to prove he's the real deal before joining. And I'm pretty sure him not having Allomancy is already explained. He lost those abilities after his death. His current body isn't actually alive, he's still a cognitive shadow, just one stapled to a corpse. No connection to the physical realm means no Allomancy.
  14. No idea which Order I belong to! When I took the quiz a couple weeks ago I think I got Edgedancer (possibly Elsecaller), which didn't really seem to fit me. Took it again yesterday and got Windrunner, which I'm fine with because that is probably the one I'd choose as I have a deep desire to protect people (and flying!). Of course, I just took the quiz again and got Lightweaver so uhhh my personality apparently shifts on a daily basis I dunno. This same thing happened when I took the Pottermore House test. First I got Gryffindor, then took the test three more times and got each of the other houses as well. So on my fifth attempt I ended up with Gryffindor again and decided to go with it. So I guess I'mma just stick with Windrunner here. Sadly have to accept the fact that I'm just basic lol
  15. Shallan sent Pattern down as an attempted distraction for the Shardbearer that was hounding Renarin, the moment before Kaladin leaps from the stands to join the fray. This was well before their Radiant powers and spren are revealed to each other, so Syl has yet to be acquainted with Pattern. Which is why she got distracted by the suspicious presence of a cryptic, and probably a little of her honorspren prejudice subconsciously kicked in as well.
  16. 1) would like to be friends with most -Kaladin, or The Lopen. Former for the deep soul searching conversations, latter for the unending hilarious shenanigans. But also like everyone else I wouldn't mind Adolin as a best friend. My life would be less similar to Kaladin's with him around. 2) feel is most believable in terms of motivation -Erm, they all seem rather realistic in their individual motivations. Among the main reasons why I love all of these characters so much (among the greater cosmere as well) 3) enjoy reading about most -Kaladin honestly. Every single character has their moments, and I love them all, but admittedly when I reread the books the only chapters I will never skip involve Kaladin in some way. I don't think there's ever been a fictional character that I connect with as thoroughly. 4) find most confusing/intriguing -None of them are confusing except maybe Taravangian, but that's only as of right now while we can only guess at his true intentions. Most intriguing to me are all of the Heralds. Not sure I really need to elaborate on that, just that Nale and then Ishar's demonstration of their skills left me wanting a lot more. Can't wait to see the rest of them showing off. 5) find makes you laugh the most -It's The Lopen. Honestly it wasn't until Dawnshard where his type of humor really started to click with me, and I relate to his oaths in a significant way. I often use humor/sarcasm as a defense mechanism. Regardless quite a few of his jokes got some genuine laughter out of me. I will also mention Pattern. Arguably the most hilarious character in the cosmere. 6) would like to punch in the face -Uhhh... nobody really. Not even Moash. He's been through enough and will go through even worse, a punch in the face wouldn't help one way or the other. He prob just needs a hug tbh. 7) personally relate to most -Well I already kinda answered this earlier, it's Kaladin, but I also highly relate to aspects of several other characters. Shallan's identity issues, Jasnah's inability to get close to anyone, Dalinar's struggle to be a better man than his past self... I'll stop there. 8) feel is emotionally most realistic -Literally everyone. Though I haven't mentioned Renarin yet, and I feel like he deserves some attention from me because even though I'm not too familiar with autism he's the type of person I would go to any lengths to protect. 9) shamelessly crush on the hardest -Oddly no one. I could see myself being happy with either a Shallan or Jasnah type, preferably the latter. But I don't believe I would be compatible with either of them. And I wouldn't want them to settle for someone like me considering they have so much world saving to do. 10) is most like someone you know IRL -Again no one, unfortunately. Aside from myself there isn't anyone I know who shares significant similarities.
  17. Aluminum is very important across the greater cosmere, that much we know for sure. As far as its actual importance goes, we're still left wondering. No doubt it's an important metal no matter which world you're looking at, and it certainly effects multiple if not all Investiture in a significant way.
  18. Exactly! Although I suspect Voidlight to be less indefinite in certain circumstances -- like the aforementioned survival in the vacuum of space. And deep underwater where the pressure would be lethal to a regular human. Like say on our own Earth, if a Fused dove into the deepest trenches of our ocean I highly doubt their Voidlight would sustain them for long.
  19. That's fair, and I don't disagree with that assessment. I won't deny that Rashek most likely would win in a confrontation between the two. However he wouldn't win easily. And that's just considering the Susebron that we've seen up to this point. Imagine him after a few years or so of getting acclimated to his powers. That would be a much different fight.
  20. You assume that Rashek could easily beat Susebron why? I'd say their amount of Investiture rivals each other.
  21. Good points there. Though I recall Kaladin pointing out that he needed to learn how to breathe in Stormlight underwater, as if it may have been a possibility. Also considering Raboniel didn't seem at all concerned with a lack of air. Of course it was only from Kaladin's perspective, but it gave me the impression that breathing wasn't actually essential for taking in Stormlight (or Voidlight etc). Then again the assertion that the Fused couldn't survive long in space definitely puts a strain on my idea, however I'll still point out that oxygen exists underwater. It's not a vacuum like space is. So it could be different as far as Investiture is concerned. Heck, there may be ways for them to survive in space as well that they just haven't figured out yet. We know that events are heading towards a sci-fi setting after all.
  22. With Stormlight (or Voidlight, etc.) it's been proven that our characters can dive underwater without any concern of air so long as they have an adequate reserve of Investiture. I assume it would also equate for the amount of pressure they would encounter as they dive further down (granted it would probably require more Stormlight the deeper they go). So do you think we will be provided more scenes in the future of underwater confrontations? It also makes me wonder at the effectiveness of throwing Yelig-Nar's gemstone into the sea. A Fused shouldn't have any problem scouring the ocean floor in search of the lost Unmade.
  23. Pattern is probably my favorite of the spren characters. Don't you worry, he'll be around for a while to provide many hilarious moments. I predict that you'll grow to love Szeth even more. And yes there will be better explanation on the Stormlight restrictions.
