But the light didn't need to be directly on him, just on his "shadow cloak", and it affected said powers directly. Wouldn't the sun dissolve the cloak over the city?

Something I didn't understand. If his weakness is sunlight, and it's beens shown that it affects all his abilities, how could he cover Newcago in night?
