  1. I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED. Hoid would probably verbaly destroy me if I ever met him but even that...
  2. I cede the point, but i think the statement stands even without that
  3. Fair but a survivorist would say something similar about kelsier and his actions. After all, his snapping was miraculous and lends credence to the idea that he was chosen to deliver a divine message. from their point of view the same is possible
  4. Ive had this idea brewing in my head for a while and have finally fleshed out a lot of the parallels. The story of kelsier deeply echoes many of the elements of the story of Moses in the book of Exodus. Both were members of the opressed group who were raised by the ruling class. Both play the role of a savior of their opressed people. Both inflict severe punishments upon the cruel ruling class. I can also see marsh as a kind of aaron figure. Any thoughts?
  5. So i have a nasty stomach bug right now, but its fine because if brandon has taught me anything its that anyone who has a terrible illness gets magic powers at the end of the book.

    1. Thaidakar the Ghostblood

      Thaidakar the Ghostblood

      XD

Now you'll have to wait a few hundred chapters for anything noteworthy to happen in your plot line!

  6. So I just finished my tress reread and am wondering if we have any W.O.Bs on the topic of zephyr spores being used in flight. They seem to be a pretty renewable resource, after all there is a litteral
  7. So my friend (who I introduced to the cosmere) is convinced that the survival shard is adonalsium. As in adonalsium's conciousness survived in that shard. I dont think this is possible but dont know for sure. Is my friend's theory even plausible here?
  8. Well i just read all of the books of another fantasy author (Jim Butcher specifically).Dont you just love post book depression.

      Tea Leaf

Uh... Book depression, what book of his did you read?

  9. I just wanted to tell everyone that my quest is now complete

    @Wits instant noodles

    I can die happy

  10. I didnt mean native diseases I was refeing to the fact that diseases from other planets might be more deadly to someone w/o the immune system to cope with the disease
  11. woah this is a long thread. I think in the long run, either Odium wins and Roshar has a super army of Odiums servants aka Scadrial is screwed. Or Dalinar wins and Roshar has the most battle hardened army ever to fight a military on Scadrial, which hasnt seen war in hundreds of years. aka Scadrial is screwed. On top of this roshar has better healing abilities so in diseases that spread between diferent groups when they interact. Roshar is better prepared
  12. You guys in this thread have gotten me obsessed with Hadestown now. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME.
  13. The Radiants are inherently limited by their oaths. They have to follow their own Geneva Convention. They have limits caused by internal struggles. The reason they are powerfull is they are using honors investiture w/o honors restrictions. On the other hand the enemy has a functioning god and they dont. You dont get plate until 4th ideal(correct me if im wrong on that one.) And no shardblades at first. Fused arrive with all of their powers and they know how to use them. The radiants cant win unless the fused stop coming. Its like trying to win a shooter game where you have one life and a powerfull weapon but your enemy has a good but not great weapon and infinite respawns. Doesnt matter if you are better than the enemy you just cant win
  14. wait theres a ck3 mod. well i was looking for things on my christmas list
  15. thanks but i have a few more questions 1. why is the end result only ever the feruchemical result rather than the allomantic 2. What abt things like identity or memories how do you have those unlimited 3.wouldnt the lord ruler have just had unlimited age in that case. WHich would just make him infinitley old. not keep him alive
  16. Ive jut finished my reread of mistborn era2(there arent any spoilers for it in this post) and I just wanted to know if somebody could dumb down exactly how compounding works for me. Its always just been a okay that happens thing for me but ive never understood the exact mechanics.
  17. i miss you :(

Hey Hoid! I'm so sorry I haven't been active... I miss you too! It means a lot that you said that-

  18. It just occured to me that warcraft 3 (reforged or otherwise) would make a fantastic base platform for Stormlight mods. if anyone could do this that would be great Ideas: You would have a Human and Singer faction Windrunners and Heavenly ones are your flying units. You could do cool stuff with hero abilities. Shattered plains map! The 2 settings could merge almost perfectly
  19. So im at the point where im being asked what I want for christmas and my most obvious responses would be mistborn house war or mistborn rpg. Both seem to have mixed reviews though. I have other stuff i can ask for so i wanted to know if house war is worth it.
  20. I return, bow before your ruler. THE TIME OF THE BLOBFISH IS AT HAND

  21. Im sorry i have to say this but I probable will be off the shard for a few weeks. Tests are hard and i go to an intense school. Ill be able to keep up my rp with Symphonian but not any others, sorry guys

  22. Sorry Ive been busy for a while. Here are some of the things ive been doing

just had a big latin test.

Were doing a musical at school. Oliver. Im hoping for the Artful Dodger

I have joined my first dnd group(technically a game made by a classmate but pretty much dnd)

Watched the first 7 episodes of avatar. Not quite sure. I mean it feels kinda childish and im just not sure it is living up to the hype. I like the worldbuilding but the story is ehhh

Ive been listening to the Dresden Files as audio books. Not my usual style but good stuff

    Went to a renissance fair

Made a lotr obsessed friend, who actually runs the aforementioned dnd thing (5 sillmarilion reads)(I know i can hook him on Brandon)

learned some arabic for school( I rlly want our teacher to teach us kufic script, look it up, its cool)(our arabic teacher taught us how to say i dissolve dead bodies soo arabic is looking like fun)

drawn lots of maps for my dnd group

    written 30 pages

oh yeah and i just joined a cotillion group so yeah

    1. Thaidakar the Ghostblood

      Thaidakar the Ghostblood

Avatar gets better, season one is just the growing pains. Seasons two and three is where it's really at.

      mappys.

    2. The Bookwyrm

      The Bookwyrm

I can understand the opinion on Avatar, thinking back on it. But it really does get so much better: season three is my favorite.

And a Latin test. I got to take Latin in seventh grade, but it's been four or five years since then, because I moved....

      Latin is fun.

  23. Well, ive got my first person to read some of sandersons books. Downside is theyve read rithmarist and reckoners and are super against reading more of his books. I eventually had to make a deal that i would watch avatar season 1 if they read mistborn 1

      You will love Avatar.

Why is this friend so opposed to reading more Sanderson?

    3. HOID WANTS INSTANT NOODLES

      HOID WANTS INSTANT NOODLES

Not quite sure. I think i might have talked about it a bit too much. They have referred to it as a cult several times. They arent a huge epic fantasy person(their favorite author is rick rordan) I have another classmate who is obsessed with Tolkien legendarium but doubts that Sandersons books are as good as i say. My plan to get them to read it is to get the other kid first and then try to convince him with 2 people. Now that i think about it this does sound like a cult.

    4. SymphonianBookworm

      SymphonianBookworm

My friend also made the cult comment….
