  1. "Yeah, so basically I wrote an entire Mistborn era 1 amount of Cosmere novels in secret. Hope you enjoy!" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  2. Man, I've gotta reread SA. On first read you can miss all these things, then on reread, Roshar is positively teeming with worldhoppers. Is there anyone confirmed to be from Sel on Roshar? Obviously the massive time gap between Elantris and Stormlight would complicate that I imagine
  3. Taravangian too all related parties would be extremely interesting honestly, though I'm not sure he'd "play his hand" so to speak, so quickly. I think he'd probably pretend to be Rayse for a while, like he did with Hoid. As for your spoilers, I also doubt it. The shards besides Harmony were so resistant to help that I don't expect any of them to act at all. That sort of scale, I don't see that happening until Mistborn era 4
  4. So, in every book, we get at least one letter between hoid and a Shard (or Frost I suppose). In TWoK and WoR, we got Hoid and Frost. In Oathbringer we got a whopping 3 from Endowment, Autonomy, and Harmony, and Harmony's letter in RoW was absolutely crazy. Who do you want to see a letter from in the 5th book? We've already heard from all the (living) shards from other shardworlds we have had books from; White Sand, Warbreaker, Mistborn (The vessels from Elantris are dead, and the short story world's aren't Shardworlds iirc), so it would be (presumably) from a shard we haven't really "met" yet. I personally hope it's from Valor, one of the new ones from Harmony's letter. Sazed meantioned she would probably be open to talking to Hoid after all. Though Mercy's previous involvement with Odium would also be extremely interesting to hear about. Invention and Whimsy have nothing to go off of so I'm less interested in them. I also doubt we will hear from an entirely new Shard, as that's never happened before in a letter. Though maybe we won't hear from a shard at all? No idea who Hoid would really want to hear from besides Frost or a Shard though. Maybe Thaidakar? Really, really, REALLY doubt Hoid would write to him though. Can't be someone from Sel either, Elantris and Emperor's Soul takes place like 1000 years before Stormlight. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts, the letter epigraphs are always so interesting.
  5. @Frustration I honestly didn't expect there to be that many, but judging by this thread, there's actually a LOT. This is surprising to me since I personally don't interact with many irl, though that's probably since I live on the East Coast
  6. Preservation and Ruin aren't characters though. If you're referring to Leras and Ati, they are certainly no longer characters
  7. Hilariously, despite not really minding Wayne or Lopen, I can't stand Lift lol
  8. I want it to be Dabbid. Probably the single most underappreciated character in this entire storming series
  9. I mean, there's not a terribly large number of examples, but it always seemed to me like cognitive shadows aged to their "prime", then stopped. If Lift is partly in the cognitive realm, I'd imagine she'd abide by the same mechanics?
  10. I don't like this, simply because it would likely mean characters like Syl and Pattern would sorta stop existing
  11. Your ill Intent likely wasn't felt by anyone, as it lacked ill Command
  12. I'm baffled at how else you expected "Mormons would bring up the topic of her Atheism more" to be interpreted?
  13. I think a lot of people's issue with her Atheism stems much more from her existing in a world that very clearly has gods, and not from religious readers thinking she shouldn't be an atheist because they themselves are religious. Yes, I know she accepts the idea of there being a god and so forth, but most of the threads I've seen come from this angle.
  14. I really REALLY doubt that some percentage of Brandon's readerbase being Mormon significantly affects a large enough portion of the fanbase to create a meaningful shift in the fandom's opinion on Jasnah. I think she's just a divisive character, religious affiliation or not. I'm atheist, and I still don't really like her. Don't blame these things on religious affiliation
  15. I didn't mind Wayne that much honestly. I feel like, knowing myself, I should have disliked him, but he didn't bother me too much. I think part of it has to do with me having listened to the audio books of era 2 rather than reading them. The reader gave him a decent voice and I feel like his delivery of the lines made them fine. Wayne sorta feels similar to Lopen from Stormlight I guess
  16. It's 100% Kaladin and Shallan coming back from the chasm. I would be absolutely flabbergasted if it wasn't. The chapter is literally called "True Glory"
  17. Man, that quote from Brandon about "Godmetal dust" makes me wonder what a mistborn burning Tanavast's God Metal would be able to do
  18. Well, book 5 is supposed to be his book, so I'm sure that we will learn a decent amount about him and the Skybreakers. Speaking of, do you recall Nail doing anything in Edgedancer/Oathbringer/RoW that could suggest anything?
  19. What a great post! Your ideas about the Lightweavers are super interesting and make a ton of sense. And we seem to agree on windrunning. The bondsmithing idea seems to make sense but I'd like to throw my two cents in, as I think you sorta brushed over the Tension aspect. The idea of increasing the tension is to increase the strength or rigidness of something right? I believe what Ishar was doing in that scene was spiritually increasing the strength (tension) of their connection (adhesion) with the ground. He increased it to such a degree that their spiritual identity may have fused with the ground temporarily which completely screwed over their surgebinding. As for edgedancers, yeah, I think it's their communication skills. People have asked Brandon this but he RAFO'd it sadly. But it makes sense. Especially since abrasion/progression would be something like removing removing that which seperate them (abrasion) and such that they can help one another (progression). The other orders are really hard since we have seen so little of them. Truthwatchers are perhaps the weirdest named order since it doesn't really relate to either of their surges much (Renarin not withstanding), whereas every other order sorta does. Maybe the name comes from whatever their resonance is? It can't be future sight like Renarin has, since that's seen as an evil thing culturally, so maybe they have some sorta lie detector ability? Idk how that would work. Elsecallers (we've only seen the one) seem to either have a much greater connection to the cognitive realm, or have some innate sense of direction, evidenced by Jasnah immediately knowing where the nearest town was at the end of Words of Radiants when talking with Hoid. As for Stonewards, Willshapers, Dustbringers, and Skybreakers, I've got no ideas lol. Maybe Szeth or Venli have shown something, but I don't recall anything.
  20. Pretty much agree with all of this, except maybe the last part. Kaladin and Syl we're just completely beside themselves after seeing Moash had killed Teft. It was maybe a 2 minute span where Kaladin became a suicidal killer, it wasn't an extended sequence. Plus, Syl was unable to recall the words of the 4th ideal, so perhaps that is the repercussion
  21. This isn't true in the way that you think. Yes, Voidlight and Lifelight can power surgebinding. But they cannot power *all* surgebinding. Lift can use Lifelight (at least Lifelight she metabolizes though maybe from gems too) to power stormlight, but she cannot use Stormlight, or presumably any other light. Following this logic, I doubt a regular KR would be able to use Lifelight or Voidlight or Tower/Warlight either. Maybe they could use War or Towerlight since they use Stormlight, but that's not exactly guaranteed as War/tower are more than just 1 light + 1 light. It's greater than the sun of its parts and more of its own thing
  22. The only Truthwatcher we have seen do this is Renarin, who is a very very bad example of what normal truthwatchers can do. Has the Stump shown this ability?
  23. Can the Sibling produce usable investiture? Sorta off topic, but can Radiants use Towerlight? We know most Radiants can't use Lifelight, and we know Lift can't use Stormlight. Can nobody but Navani use Towerlight? Or can everyone?
  24. I don't really think this is a fair claim. We have seen two truthwatchers, one of which is Renarin who is probably a voidbinder. And the Stump didn't do much illumination. Meanwhile, a main character, Shallan, as well as several minor characters are Lightweavers. As such, I don't think it's exactly fair to say "Lightweavers are far better at illusions", they just have orders of magnitude more screentime
