  1. That's difficult! I think that Way of Kings is a special piece of perfection that basically has no flaws. The insane schedule that Brandon has set for himself means that he probably wont be able to give sooo much time and attention to one book ever again, so the rest of the stormlights have some more flaws (this is good, I would much rather have the books than have him take forever to release each one) However, I reread Words of Radiance the most and I think its the most "fun" book. I also love Emperor's Soul.
  2. Okay soooo I am new here are all cosmere spoilers allowed? You guys started to talk about Dawnshards and then you all stopped! Why?? I feel like its pretty clear from the way the "shivers" scene is written that Kelsier is now a dawnshard with the command SURVIVE. I don't know if it was "used" on him in the pits and then given to him when Fuzz died or like partially given to him in the pits? I think either way, the entire time we have known Kelsier, he has been imbued with this command. The reason I consider this important is that from the novella we get the sense that the dawnshards are going to impact their host in a similar way that the regular shard's intents do. So Kelsier, the entire time we've known him, has been Commanded (capital C) to Survive. I don't think he refuses to move on because he himself didn't want to move on and be with Mare and Vin, I think he couldn't. And that's an important distinction regarding his character and speaks positively for him. Kelsier is interesting because he is the character who my opinion of has been impacted the most by WoBs. If I hadn't read any of Brandon's continuous comments on how fantastic of a villain Kelsier would be, I would think of him in the same way that I think of Shallan/Vin/Kaladin/Siri/the rest of our protagonists. But still, I mean, any character could be a villain in the right circumstance. To many soldiers and Listeners, Kaladin is an evil mass murderer, and he's one of the cleaner characters, morally speaking. I think that Brandon's words have swayed us all to think of Kelsier as more of a potential villain than we normally would. Based on his canonical actions, he is flawed but overall good (I was frustrated with secret histories in a similar way that Feather was). He is on the same moral ground as like Vin and Dalinar and Shallan. Maybe not Taln/Kaladin level lol. I don't think he is going to end up as a villain in the same way that Rayse and the Toad and Moash are. I think he may do dumb things and I think his dawnshard is going to drive him to do more dumb things, but at the end of the day he's going to be a positive force in the cosmere. I think Brandon is pushing us to consider him a villain because he will at some point be acting counter to our other main characters, but I think that's just a middle piece of his journey. I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the day Kelsier actually is the main hero of the cosmere. It'll just be a rocky road getting there.
  3. Can I say Dawnshard? Out of the big 4 my favorite is probably WoR, partially because "Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do" and partially because I enjoyed Shallan the most in that book.
  4. Hi! I am a long time lurker but after listening to the Lord of Scars episode I realized I have a lot of OPINIONS that I want to share and talk about. I am in the US, East Coast based. My favorite characters are Rlain, Renarin, , and Rock. The R thing is a coincidence.
