  1. Hmm, you know, I see no reason why this wouldn't work. Perhaps this could even lead to the possibility of fractional Breaths, as you could further divide the object, though I'm not sure there would be a ton of point to this, and there likely would eventually be a point where splitting up a Breath rendered the pieces too small to understand a functional Command. Wood or metal coins may also work for this as they'd be more durable, but that's only for transportation. Also, here's the one quote I was originally looking for. You Awaken a single tiny cloth person to hold a single Breath, then recover it as you wish.
  2. It is my understanding that this is how an Awakener normally goes about giving away a single Breath, but you can also split an Awakened object into parts to divide it as well.
  3. Nailed it! The cloak especially looks awesome!
  4. Well, technology in the form of aluminum weapons, Unsealed Metalminds, and Primer Cubes are all shifting the balance away from a few people and towards the population as a whole, so re introducing Computers may not too game breaking given enough development.
  5. Thanks! You're pretty polite yourself Hopefully, we may get some more answers in era 3 in even fewer. But that's pretty wishful thinking, I suppose. Until such time, theorizing is the best we've got.
  6. This is actually a really good argument. Probably the best I've seen advocating this concept. Take a rep for that alone, please. However, I still maintain my stance on attribute spikes granting a magical boost due to the Koloss and Kandra examples we have, and because I don't think a Spiritweb change has to lead to massive changes to the individual's self. I mean, Tapping physical speed is Feruchemical, yet only magical alterations are made to the Feruchemist. I suppose I should clarify my previous statement on Spiritweb alterations; I don't think that implanting an attribute spike in a person means you have to alter parts of the Spiritweb that will lead to physical and mental mutations, no more than a power spike would. This is obviously dependent on how you prep the spike though, and it is likely a very complex problem to solve. All that said though, you have a solid argument, so I will accept that there is at least some possibility that using attribute Hemalurgy may have some irrevocable physical alterations attached to its use, at least when dealing with non shape shifters.
  7. I know that this has been debated as a side of other threads before, but I'm interested; what would be realistic expectations of zinc Feruchemy? What would be situations where a Sparker Ferring could shine with their talents? And some specific questions too: 1. Does Tapping mental speed let you multi task better? You can really only focus one one thing at a time normally, but if the processing power of your brain is boosted, does that mean you could Tap at 3x your normal amount and focus on 3 separate things? If so, listening in on multiple conversations simultaneously would be possible, which would be a nice pairing with A-tin. 2. Would mental speed help with visions? When accessing the SR with a duralumin/electrum burst, the end result is pretty overwhelming, so would added mental speed help process it? 3. Does mental speed make you Einstein? We know that mental speed can bring a little bit of bullet time into your grasp, but that's primarily F-steel's thing. However, mental speed is a bit different from an actual intelligence boost/alteration. SA spoilers: So, does this mean you come to a conclusion faster, and therefore more easily? If this is the case, would you be able to use F-zinc to solve complex mechanical designs and be considered a "genius"?
  8. I hadn't thought of it that way before. Now, I think that this hinges on the concept that it is Identity that creates the changes made by attribute spikes or whether it's some other portion of sDNA, but at its core I think the principle would be the same no matter what; if you prepare an attribute spike correctly, it shouldn't alter you too much. Probably. Even if you remove the negative effects of attribute Hemalurgy's physical transformation, you still have to contend with the Flaw. And, even if you deal with the Flaw (Trellium, aluminum, A-copper, F-Electrum, or simply high levels of Investiture) you still have the exhaustive burden it places on your Spiritweb. I doubt there will be any shortage of limitations for it to compliment its power. I believe that the attribute spikes already provide magical boosts similar to A-pewter, actually. First off, why wouldn't a Koloss have access to all its potential strength from its spikes after its transformation? Elend comments in WoA at how ridiculously strong even the small ones are, which suggests a magical boost to strength like the Kandra with the Blessing of Potency. Koloss are also described by Sazed as being inhumanly fast in WoA (this coming from a man who's friends with a Pewterarm and not one, but two Mistborn), which again, is seen as a magical boost by the Kandra with the Blessing of Potency in HoA (also witnessed by Sazed and hinted by TenSoon during his escape as he comments on being fast enough to outrun even those with the Blessing of Potency). As for why Koloss continue to grow so large, I think it's just a part of their new anatomy; it's not an integral part of the power of the spikes, it's a side effect of their transformation.
  9. I would bet that there are ways around it, though they may not be extremely easy to find at first. Whatever allows Kandra and Mistwraiths to shape shift also makes them immune to these mutations. Additionally, with a better knowledge of the Spiritweb, what specific pieces you want to take in an attribute spike, and Bindpoints in general, it may be possible to channel the changes into smaller, yet actually beneficial changes, such as an iron spike giving you a little more muscle mass or bone density but leaving you human. This could be made easier to find through SR hacks and computers, but if it does happen it probably won't be till era 4.
  10. I was reading about pure Atium's effects when I caught this on the Allomancy table; "Pure Atium grants the Allomancer an expansive vision of the future and enhances the mind's ability to accept, process, and hold information." This got me wondering, does pure Atium permanently expand the user's Cognitive Aspect a little to hold and use the information it gave, a little like Lerasium expands and adds Connection to the Spiritweb to use its power (or perhaps Atium's mind boost could be like a Sliver's)? I know there's no real way of checking right now, I just thought it an interesting thought. Edit: further building on this idea (instead of just going to bed and letting my overtaxed brain rest), could you learn about a specific skill set via Atium and gain a strong permanent edge to it? Maybe not a direct "skill" but get experience without experiencing something? Like, if you get a vision of swordplay, and you see lots of mistakes others make, could you essentially cheat and have this "experience" to instinctively not make such a mistake yourself?
  11. Eh, fair enough. I still think Atium may truly have more potential, but Lerasium is pretty great, especially if alloying it to cherry pick and double or triple up on good powers is an option. Also, don't we know about what Atium does too? The Allomancy table says it gives an expanded vision of the SR with added ability to process and remember such knowledge. It doesn't have to be selfish; you could still use Lerasium to do great good. Also, you could pull a Spook and have thirteen kids to reintroduce potent Allomancy to Scadrial's population As for the mush thing, you don't have to use Hemalurgy with it. Knowledge is Atium's core function, so other (inferior ) options would be available too. Doesn't Investiture generally aid and boost the practitioner instead of damage them though? I mean, okay, Hemalurgy is kind of a bad example for this (though even it preserves your life by rearranging organs and such), but Mistborn had no issues with Burning Atium/electrum alloys for centuries.
  12. Yup, I said it; Atium (the pure, non-alloyed form) is better than Lerasium. Or, at least it has a far greater potential, in my opinion. Both God Metals are quite useful in their own right; Atium can be used to see and comprehend the SR while Lerasium allows you to make permanent changes to your Spiritweb. And I think most people see Lerasium as the superior metal because it grants permanent, powerful Invested abilities with pretty much no downside, while Atium is used up in a flash. I used to think this way too until I realized something; Atium gives knowledge and comprehension. That means a lot, I believe. What's a Dawnshard's biggest power? Granting the knowledge and comprehension of a deity. And so, I think pure Atium may be able to do something similar, though on a smaller scale. Want to use a highly, highly advanced Awakening Command to, oh, say recreate Nightblood? Atium vision grants you the knowledge and ability to use it. Want to know how to Bondsmith your way to Ascension? Atium. Boom. Knowledge. Want to know how to Forge yourself into a only borderline possible yet much more powerful version of yourself? Atium again. Want to know how to crack Hemalurgic Compounding, add multiple Hemalurgic charges or powers in a single spike, add more than 5 spikes to a person, evade the Flaw, add +500 IQ via Hemalurgic copper (while remaining somewhat human), or otherwise rewrite a Spiritweb in literally any way you want? You probably know by now; Atium. Even if you don't have another form of Investiture as your disposal to gain insight into, you could learn the next leap in technological advancement for your civilization (with you owning its patented rights, of course), know what to do regarding a close personal matter, or simply gain a greater insight into how the Cosmere works. Have I convinced anyone else to join team Atium over team Lerasium yet? Edit: Hmm, I get the feeling that people are voting without actually checking my argument. . .
  13. Welcome to the Shard! So, the biggest issue I see with this is a misunderstanding of what it means for an Invested system to be aligned with a Shard. The powers of a magic system don't stem from the Shard's Intent, but the way you gain access to it is intertwined with the Intent. Still, I think it’s pretty cool you put this much thought into it!
  14. I think that the opposite is likely true, unfortunately; the more Connected you are to something, the harder it is to leave it. Since a Radiant's Spren is Connected to Roshar and the Bond/Connection between the Spren and Radiant is stronger than ever at the 5th Oath, it's going to be even harder for the Radiant to leave the system. We actually get some confirmation for this in RoW, when Mraize tells Shallan that she is trapped in the Rosharan system by her Invested nature.
  15. Yeah, I know that there has been a theme in some other works of fiction where a magic user can steal other magic users' power. I don't usually like this, as it's never clear how much power they get, there's never a real downside to taking it (aside from the moral consequences, that is), and they're always beaten anyway. Hemalurgy has measurable amounts of Investiture, has limitations and consequences, and it can still be used as a viable option to gain magical power.
  16. Love the idea! I'll have to illustrate it at some point. As for its functionality, I think that this would be effective for extra speed and stamina.
  17. Nice to have you friend! How many of the Cosmere books have you read thus far? I assume most if not all, but better to check anyway. Also, which magic system is your favorite and why?
  18. Nice to have you! Which magic system is your favorite and why? Also, which book (or series of books) is your favorite and why?
  19. Welcome friend! What's yours, out of curiosity? This is the correct answer Which aspect of Hemalurgy seems most interesting to you? I, personally, love that it allows for direct Spiritweb manipulation, which means you can change nearly any aspect of yourself you want. What's more, it allows for a magic system that can increase in power, but it has actual, measurable bounds.
  20. He had 22 spikes that we know of, as he added his F-Atium spike after Ruin's fall. Shoot them our way and we'll be happy to let you know what we know
  21. Seems plausible to me. Depends on some factors I would assume, but it doesn't seem unreasonable.
  22. Sorry for the confusion, I was speed writing and I've only got my mobile to use for a while. No, I don't think that Allomantically Burning a pure Godmetal will necessarily grant you access to the system directly. I think that there are individual ways to use the pure form of each Godmetal to access (or, I suppose, just improve the use of as some people have argued) the magic system they're tied to; Lerasium you ingest, but Tanavastium you Bond, just like with a Spren. Could be that Edglium you Command with "your Breath become mine" or something like that. That is true, but pure Atium's effects that aid in Hemalurgy could also be considered a "side effect". So, perhaps Godmetals don't directly grant access to their magic system, but the effects they grant are close enough that they could greatly aid its use or be used in a roundabout way to gain access. That is the electrum/Atium alloy I believe, not the purified form of the Godmetal. Hmm, that's a valid point. This definitely moves against my original theory. You could argue that this is technically still using a pure Godmetal to access its system after a fashion, but that's probably a stretch.
  23. I was thinking about how refined Atium (with no electrum contamination) is able to give you enhanced visions of the SR when I realized something; that's literally the perfect ability to use in conjunction with/access Ruin's magic system, Hemalurgy; in depth knowledge of what you want to do with an equal portion of cognitive enhancement to use it? Hemalurgy's all about knowledge, Intent, and metal, which just fits super well. . . Almost too well to be coincidence. Then there's Lerasium, which inherently grants access to Preservation's magic system, Allomancy. Honor's pure Godmetal is only seen in one way; the Honorblades. Which also happen to grant access/expand one's power in their Shard's respective magic system. I'm starting to see a pattern here. I theorize, then, that the pure form of each Godmetal of each Shard grants access to or expands the possible use of that system it's tied to. For example, Edglium may generate Breath for someone, Raysium may allow for Odium's version of Surgebinding, and Trellium may possibly allow access to Sand Mastery or Star Marks. And this does make some sense on an intrinsic level; they are the condensed essence of the very systems that they're Connected to, so I don't think this is outside the realm of plausibility.
  24. Happy birthday! Your art looks so good!
