  1. So something that keeps popping up, at least for me, is how often Wax seems to find crowded places or tight spaces a bit uncomfortable. He mentions a few times that he finds parties packed with people suffocating or words to that effect. He also prefers wide open spaces like the Roughs, where you can see all around and genuinely seems better in those places. In other instances it doesn't come up because he seems to be focused on a task at hand, rather than on all the people around him. For the sake of argument I will say that I think most people don't like being in tight spaces or the thought of being crushed, obviously and I find a large open room with tons of people in it (barring some exceptions) to be intimidating or otherwise uncomfortable. People with actual claustrophobia would you say this fits? Or can you have mild symptoms without being actually claustrophobic? Let me know your thoughts
  2. So first up, sorry if this is in the wrong spot. If there is an official place for stuff like this for creators and whatnot let me know. Secondly if anyone is interested in a playthrough of Resi 8 then come hang out: https://www.twitch.tv/thegelixer Thirdly if there is rule against self promotes I apologise and there's no pressure here for anyone to turn up. At the moment I am trying to do at least three day's a week but no fixed schedule. Starting out at this so any advice or whatever would be welcome. Hope to start around 2pm (I am on UK time so lord knows what the overlap is with the US and other countries). Hope to see you there folks Cheers
  3. Hmm I was going more by opinion than by any real canon answer or well not canon as much as Brandon's own word, but hey if you agree with that then cool. I would have said Kelsier would fit Skybreaker to be able to bend the law to his needs but Willshaper could work for that too. I'll add a bit more to this one then. This time: Rosharan Mistborn Mistborn Kaladin/ Steel Pusher Kaladin Not to be contrary but I always imagined Kaladin more as a misting. Given his aversion for lighteye's or people of significant status, though by dint of being a misting/ mistborn he would be at least part noble. He would make a good mistborn, though I think the emotional manipulation part of it and (given recent book events) would find the ease of killing with atium to be worrisome. Still a noble mistborn/ misting protecting people? Kal would be in the Skaa rebellion no matter how doomed it might be. Soother Shallan Hmm I feel bad about this one, Shallan struggles a lot with problems in her life so perhaps Soother would work to get people to be calmer? Would definitely have helped, at least somewhat, with the whole family thing. But Shallan is a diverse and complicated (at least in my opinion) character. Anyone got a better suggestion? Seems to passive a role for her and if there is one thing she ain't it's that. Pewter Arm Dalinar So, good at punching stuff? Extra burst of speed, endurance, balance and strength? On the battlefield? Young, and possibly older, Dalinar would have been all over that. Maybe he would have fit Seer as well, which would make him a more effective killer though not so sure of that. And given the metallic arts abilities to discharge metallic objects from hands, how effective would Dalinar even be with a sword on Scadrial? Maybe an aluminium one would mitigate that some. Rioter Adolin/ Peweter arm/ Soother Even as I write this I am conflicted about what would suit Adolin. I would have said mistborn but Adolin doesn't strike me as wanting for power or would fit the stealthy subterfuge they are known for. Soother would fit with his personality, pewter arm would fit for being a warrior and Rioter would help for him pushing on people, on the rare occasions he actually does. What do you guys think? Mistborn/ Inquisitor Szeth I feel bad for Szeth as he is so often the tool of wrong, but good god it would be terrifying were he an Inquisitor and if he had nightblood in tow. Yeah no, that would just....He would fit Mistborn well and would probably be a force to be reckoned with. The only question is to whom he'd swear allegiance? I would hope Skaa rebellion/ Elend's empire but even then, short leash folks, short leash. Feruchemist Jasnah This would cover a lot of bases for Jasnah and given her scholarly proclivities being able to store books in a coppermind would certainly cut down on baggage. She and Sazed would get along well, though I am not certain she would be placid as most Terrisman are. It would be interesting to see how she would have dealt with the lord ruler at the time and what her opinion on the final empire would have been. Feruchemist Navani Pretty much the same as Jasnah, though she would probably be looking more extensively into how to get rid of ash, studying plant life and engineering would interest her more than Sazed. Take a nap Saze, Malasha has got this. There are tons more characters but for right now I'll leave it there and see what you guys come up with.
  4. Basic as hell, but Gravity manipulation. This is something I was interested in even before stormlight, mostly from Gravity Rush. It would be awesome. Welcome! Counter question for you folks, what non mythological creature would you want to be? Either Eagle or Lion for me.
  5. I was gonna say the exact same thing. Pre WOA Elend would definitely be bonded to the Sibling, Post would be Stormfather. I am gonna do Rosharan Mistborn next but leaving it for the time being. I forgot about Marsh, he would make a good Skybreaker....him and Nale might get along. Maybe. Cett would probably be a Stoneward or maybe Dustbringer. He is really rough around the edges so I imagine him in one of those orders. Or more likely a Highprince with Shards, man he would fit the Alethi so well.
  6. Oh that's good actually, I would love to see Breeze's brain blow from a cryptic conversation with Ham. I also thought of another variant where you have Hazekillers Bridge Four. Which would be.....contradictory I suppose, serving the people that would oppress them. Cheers for weighing in.
  7. So this is something I wanted to try for a while. It's something that I was considering a few months back and wanted to see what people's opinions would be. The basic concept is What if? What if Vin was born on Roshar? What if Szeth had become an inquisitor? What if bridge 4 had been in the Skaa rebellion? What roles would certain characters born on different worlds encompass? Might have been done before but thought it would be interesting. It's a general discussion, but I was also imagining what if the Cosmere was a TGC game (or more like gacha nowadays if you play FEH or literally any other gacha) where you get variants of characters. I'll start things off be reimagining Kelsier's crew and Wax's deputies as Radiants on Roshar and what roles they would fill. Mistborn Radiant Windrunner Vin Feel as if this would be the most natural fit though did consider Edgedancer. The whole protecting thing is within Vin's character but it would have to be tempered somewhat (looks at the attack on Keep Hastings or Blowing up Kredik Shaw, plus those Inquisitors) Skybreaker Kelsier Come on though. What else is Kel gonna be. The law, in many people's eye's, is often up for interpretation and giving Kelsier the ability to destroy lighteye's legally? (Or somewhat anyway) Makes sense to me but please feel free to discuss this one. Bondsmith Elend Spook couldn't have said it better "He's just a dreamer caught up in a world with too much violence" He would definitely be a Bondsmith, especially seeing as he is always trying to improve, right to the end. Elsecaller Sazed Honestly this one was hard to call (heh) so if you disagree please write something more appropriate for Sazed. But seeing as they are the most Scholarly order I figured this fit Sazed to a tee. Not much else to say here but seeing as the orders are apparently made up of "broken people" (according to Syl anyway, also in my experience everyone is broken somehow it's about how you deal with that is important) this might have been good for Sazed post Tindwyl. Truthwatcher Breeze Not gonna explain reasoning behind this one for very long, though he would probably find healing people to be too much work and delegate to others. Stoneward Hammond Again not gonna explain this one. I genuinely can't think of another order that Ham would be suited to. Willshaper Clubs Had a hard time on this one, until I noticed their disposition to art and though Clubs is curmudgeonly in his heart lies an artist. Though if someone were to say that he would probably say he wasn't an tell you to storm off. With a slight smile on his face. Edgedancer Spook This one was tricky, because I want to give Spook the benefit of the doubt and make him a Windrunner but his work in Urteau (which was basically ignored by many) makes him out to be more an Edgedancer than anything else. Remembering the fallen and the ignored would probably hit home with Spook given his feelings of being ignored. Dustbringer Dockson Dockson did change towards the end of WOA but that backstory and the little he cares for nobles influenced this decision. Though in fairness he would probably be less destructive and more careful with his surgebinding. Lightweaver Tindwyl Not a great fit for Tindwyl in fact I'd be more tempted to put her in with Sazed, but she is a skilled teacher and, supposedly, writer so I feel this one goes well with her. Truthwatcher Allrianne Seems like a good fit, if the Truthwatchers had squires most likely this is where she would end up, Rsyhadium Tensoon Threw this one in for fun. Skybreaker Wax Because Wax is just a bloody badass, he wouldn't really fit another order, maybe Windrunner but given his proffesion..... Lightweaver Wayne I disagree with Wayne being an Edgedancer. Seems to me, barring his abysmal drawing talent, he would fit this order better. What with the disguises and all. Truthwatcher Marasi At the heart of Marasi is a person who wants to help more than harm (which is slightly ironic given her parentage). She may fit better as an Elsecaller or maybe Skybreaker, but where Wax acts she watches, perceptive and strong. Stoneward MeLaan Hmmm well actually I would say that MeLaan (or any Kandra) could be part of any order so who knows. Windrunner Steris She'd have so much fun. Completely inappropriate though. And that's it for now. Feel free to speculate/ come up with your own variants. Talk about mine or come up with your own. Cheers folks. Happy Friday.
  8. Thanks for the welcomes people. How about all of you? Favourite non cosmere books? I was reading through Wheel of time recently. Up to Knife of dreams atm.
  9. Think my previous name was Avalonblue but totally lost the user/ password. Plus got scammed hard few years back and a bunch of stuff got compromised. As for non-cosmere it would have to be The wise man's fear. With all of Tales of the Ketty Jay next in close second.
  10. Hey Peeps Had a previous user on here but old laptop is pretty much dead so I made a new user. Hope everyone is keeping good during these perilous times, chillin, livin, gettin by. Its good to be back!
  11. Blushweaver would make a good rioter as men (and presumably women) would become putty in her hands. Silence Montane would probably have attacked preservation while he was in his mist form confusing him with a shade. Assuming that Shardplates are made from allomantically reactive metals, a suit made from Alluminium would be incredibly dangerous and likely anyone wearing it could lay waste to allomancers easily. Seon's would likely be confused for an odd type of spren on Roshar. If Wax had had the ability to burn malatium it would have made the hunt for bleeder much easier as it would take out a lot of the guesswork. Though as I write this I am not certain how malatium or gold would work on a kandra. Felt, with his name as a basis, would probably fit in well in Hallandren. Tensoon would make an interesting returned if he could convince people he came back as a dog. He would also be unkillable so that would reinforce the image. Spook would probably be able to follow the simple rules easily being a tineye. He would not need fire to see and would know better than to run in a place he didn't know. Despite his want to teach others and bring them together through the unity of religion it seems likely that Sazed wouldn't be a bondsmith. Elend would fit the role much better. If Hoid had the ability to change his shape like a kandra then there would be no limit to the amount of trouble he could cause. A frightening possibility about the spike that controlled bleeder is that if Marsh were spiked with the same spike could he be opened up to the control of another God?
  12. So I thought it would be amusing to make a thread on random trivia about the cosmere. The idea is that you come up with trivia that sounds plausible I.e. Pattern would find Wayne fascinating as he pretty much "lie's" all the time by pretending to be someone else. If Wayne was a knight radiant most likely he would be an Elsecaller given the fact that he "transforms" himself and his speed bubbles could be considered as mini teleports. Something like that. Who knows, we might even discover something by joking around. Here's some more: Ironically, if Kenton visited Roshar he would be easily mistaken for both a light eye's and an Riran given that his hair is blond and his eye's are blue. The ironic bit is that he would probably be given a high ranking position in an alethi army because of said eye colour without having to do much to earn a spot, in direct contrast to the events of White Sand. Raoden and Elend together would have made huge impacts on each others respective cities seeing as, at least from my point of view, they are quite similar. Elend would have wanted to help the people of Elantris as he would see them as similar to Skaa and Raoden would have sympathised with Elend's rule of Luthadel, at least at the beginning of WOA. Breeze would find parshman delightful servants as they wouldn't complain if he asked them to do something for him. They'd likely kill him once they became voidbringers though. Another likely possibility is that the skaa would have had much better lives if Rashek had known of the existence of parshmen as I said above they wouldn't complain. This is based on the assumption that Rashek could worldhop (which he could apparently) or wanted to worldhop (which he didn't apparently) Assumedly if Arsteel had visited Rohar there is a good chance that he could have won a shardblade, because of his skill. Given how devout he is, Hrathen would make a grand obligator had he been born on Scadrial. If Dalinar was a returned on Nalthis he would likely as not be known as Oath bringer, the honourable. Marasi muses on Vin's personality in BOM and wonders if she was ever scared, uncertain or jealous. Obviously these are rather common emotions but Vin, at least at some point during the original Mistborn trilogy, did go through these emotions barring perhaps jealousy as they are part of how she develops. I always saw a parallel between the two characters. Who would win in a fight between lifeless, voidbringers and Koloss? If Bleeder had gone to Roshar and studied some of the main charcter's family members i.e. Tien, Gavilar and Shallans father she could quite easily break them as all of these characters had huge impacts on the main characters. Scary to think about. Kelsier, like Kaladin, would likely as not have great disdain for lighteye's had he been born on Roshar. The difference is where Kaladin has some measure of self control Kelsier would probably have killed Amaram and any other lighteyes who slighted him.
  13. I still think, even if eventually nothing comes of it, that Rashek's kid will play a role. Why else would someone divulge that information without it having meaning? Hemalurgy is still a bit of a double edged sword. Use to many spikes and you fall to the influence of Harmony......or something worse. At the moment though only two ways exist for a person to become technically Mistborn, well three ways actually. First is Hemalurgy. We all know why thats not a great plan even if the power you receive is useful it won't be nearly as strong as the original holder making for a powerful, but by no means invincible, mistborn. Second is to use the bands. Obviously these have limits too and supposedly to refill them might take a couple hundred years of charging. Thirdly is a natural Mistborn which hasn't cropped back up yet but supposedly possible.
  14. Hmmm wonder what else would clash with allomancy. I guess in a way that's a good thing. It means no one person can have all the power in the world. No over powered people. A thought occurred. Is it possible that the child Rashek had knew about any of this? Could that child have taken a lerasium bead and fled to another world? A worldhopper, I know I am clutching at straws but still.
  15. Wow. This thread filled up quick. Love it when the community comes together to discuss this stuff. First off, in reply to an early comment: Completely forgot Spook was turned into a mistborn by Harmony. Totally right on that. Second, the feeling I am getting is that if Spook did have any children likely as not the Mistborn gene didn't take (or at least not that we know anyway) Thirdly, wait seriously Feruchemy and Allomancy clash? I need to pay more attention. I agree with Faceless MistWraith, I always assumed that the lord ruler was trying to stop anyone from acquiring the same abilities as him. So then, linking back to my question above, how do allomancy and feruchemy clash? Is it because Rashek voided that by taking the power at the well of accession?
