  1. I read him as not being completely “there” so to speak, I don’t think he’s some high level cosmere being, but perhaps a remnant of one, which results in his wierd habits and also his non aggressive reaction towards shallan. he leaves every 16th day, and if I understood correct he was also the 16th person to enter the fortress? Or was he just the 16th person shallan checked, can’t remember. Also would a pre shattering person care about the number 16? To my understanding the number 16 first became important to the world after the shattering. my immediate thoughts are, that either we have never met this person before, or something has happened to him, so we won’t be able to recognize him based on the prior information we had. I am however curious as to who he is, my guess is someone previously deeply connected to a shard, a scadrian or an actual Shin (or someone who lived on Ashyn, as someone pointed out).
  2. @Gingeriffic! I am pretty sure the original owner, or at least it’s current owner at that time was the guy with all the jewelry (presumably a Feruchemist) that was killed, since the way the red bird reacted suggested this. I have seen other speculating that this guy was the steward from the prologue. I don’t have the evidence the people gave for this on me, but I can look it up at some point if u want.
  3. It could probably be done, but would be insanely hard I imagine. If we are talking splitting an existing shard into two parts, I’m not sure how, you would have to convert the intent of the investiture, and for that to happen you would have to separate the investiture in two parts and imbue them with an intent close to honor. Like unity and perhaps protection as you guys mentioned, but how would you divide and hold half of infinite investiture? Infinity divided by two is still infinity so idk about that. a more plausible and more applicable idea would be coalescing an already splintered shards investiture into two parts. I imagine this could be done. On Roshar, as far as I understand, most of honors investiture lies in the spren, so you would have to take the investiture from the Spren, and “unkey” it from them, since they already are manifestations of honors intent (the investiture of honor coalescing and forming a consciousness ie. Spren) you would have to “kill” the Spren, free the investiture and force it into a cognitive being that could then, probably, form the intent of the investiture into something close to Honor like Unity or Protection. in theory you could create endless shards with endless intents since all shards are infinite. Splitting a shard in two, would just give you two new shards both infinite. This probably won’t be exploited since it’s kind of an endless cycle, just thought it was fun to mention : D I think this kind of thing would be easier to accomplish on the Elantris world (I forget it’s name), since the investiture of both shards is just floating about in the cognitive realm, and really only needs some kind of beacon to attract it, and form an intent around it. It is kinda curious why the investiture of Devotion and Dominion, hasn’t formed into a conscious being, since “large amounts of investiture forms consciousness”, I suspect this is foul play on Odiums part, perhaps because of the volatile nature of the CR in Elantris world, the investiture never has time to coalaeace into conscious beings because the two different types of investiture constantly clash with each other idk. just some thoughts on the subject, it’s late and I might be rambling, so let me know if you think I’m way of track : D
  4. Yeah i think we are all just throwing ideas atm, but I personally am in your camp as well. Just thought it was worth bringing up the “unstable” mind of highly invested entities. While reading your response, it reminded me of a passage by Harmony from the epigraphs in part 2 where he said, and I’m paraphrasing here “the thing that should be feared is a combination of a cunning vessel and a powers intent”. We have mostly only seen shard Vessels being warped or “trapped” by their intent, and Harmony clearly aludes to the fact that this isn’t the only outcomes, Cultivation could be the outlier here the crafty vessel combined with an Intent that leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Imo she should be feared. if you look at it neutrally without seeing Odiums actions as evil, but merely just actions as a shard. Rayse-Odiums actions doesn’t show the fearful combinations of vessel and shard Harmony warns about, pretty much the opposite in RoW. So maybe Odium isn’t the big bad of the cosmere that Brando wants us to think he is, perhaps because of an unstable Intent that is hard to control. In theory you could categorize most of Rayse-Odiums actions as following the intent rather than the vessel. It is yet to be seen what big T-Odium will be able to accomplish. Cultivation however has never been shown on screen having problems controlling her intent, she to me seems scary, and I truly wonder about what her grand plans entail. Her like Autonomy and maybe T-Odium seems right now to be the shards to look out for. note: The whole Cultivation influencing lift, dalinar, Big T. And that they will be the new vessels for cultivation, honor and odium theory, may be her long con. Setting up vessels she thinks can control their respective intent and then knowing how these people think might be her plan. Because she thinks she can foresee what they will do when they become shards, she might be influencing them to further her own plans. Just some thoughts, and sorry for the rambling
  5. While we have been extremely impressed by Cultivation’s planning in Oathbringer, I don’t think we can forget that she is a shard and is bound by her intent. Let’s not forget that while she may have a grand plan, and tried to help Roshar by preparing big T for Odium, her intent for growth may have manipulated her without knowing. Rayse-Odium has stagnated for so long in the cyclic nature of the conflict on Roshar, and her intent for growth may have driven her to replacing the Vessel, and might have made her overlook some of the dangerous aspects of BigT-Odium. It seems to me that a growing theme in the Cosmere is the warping of the mind of immortal beings by their intents (see Vasher/Kaladin chapter in part 1, the heralds sickness and the Thaidakar reference by Mraize). I really hope Cultivation has a big brain plan for the greater good of Roshar, but I don’t think we can overlook her Intents interference in her machinations. Would love to hear you guys thoughts on this.
  6. Yeah, I think your reasoning in that part is correct, I think that was what I was trying to say, but I may not have been as precise as you were. Bottomline is that I’m on your page on that matter Side note: my guess is that if one of Ishars test spren would survive they would not be able to bond a person, but they might be able to bond a normal “radiant spren”. But that’s just a gut feeling also to answer your question, my guess is the “test spren” would look like a human does in the cr.
  7. I think the reason the honorspren last longest but still die, is because of the fact that while they are the most human like on the exterior, that doesn’t necessary mean their inner working (organs etc.) are 1 to 1 with humans, I mean in the CS they would not need their body to function like humans, so therefore it makes sense to me at least why the honorspren still die off. Their bodies were not made to survive in the physical realm and therefore still may not have all the organs and inner functionalities that makes it possible to survive in the physical realm, and therefore they still die off, but last longer than others since they are the closest of the spren to a functioning body. This is purely theoretical of course, but in my mind it makes sense at least. Edit: afterthought, perhaps the problem is something completely different (shock, spiritual Mumbo-jumbo) who knows.
  8. My take on why they die die and don't just "return to the CR", is because to make them appear in the physical realm, in their CR bodies, he uses the Bondsmith honorblade to bind their CR bodies to the Physical Realm or something like that. The implications for that in my understanding would be, that since they are now spiritually connected to the physical realm and not the CR when they die there they die for real because as far as their spiritual web is concerned they don't have any connection to the CR. He literally takes their CR bodies, binds them to the physical realm instead of the CR and they obviously die shortly after because of the fact that their CR bodies are not sustainable in the physical realms because they weren't meant to be. This is my interpretation of that, and obviously isn't confirmed in anyway, but I think overall it lines up pretty well with what we see and know of Realmatics. This would probably be one of the things where Honor in the past would have stepped in and stopped this kind of binding (since the Bondsmith honorblade was specifically mentioned as being "unrestrained" by Oaths, and Honor was the one to oversee the use of the Bondsmith honorblade in the past), I think in general this gives us a bit better idea of the true danger of uncontrolled Surgebindings that are referred to in Dawnshard.
