  1. I correct myself. the authors writing, not the audiobook. i wrote out a whole essay explaining myself and then realised this is a mine field so I’ll just say this.. if a story has all kinds of genders and sexual orientations in it that’s fine. But when the author stops the story to preach it to me, it ruins it.
  2. I listened to an audio book not that long ago that was going out of its way to have LGBT characters all through it as well as trying to force the reader to be gender fluid accepting. It was laborious... the plot started great but as soon as writers try to become “political” in their inclusions and explanations about those inclusions i couldn’t deal with it. a writer that I feel pulled off the sexual orientation or characters in their books was Trudy Canavan in the black magician books. this is of course only my opinion and I look forward to discussing it.
  3. My 3 favs. teft - I can relate to some of his troubles. the lopen - who doesn’t love a mouthy short fella Adolin - because we should all have that guy that inspires us and you know you can trust.
  4. I read the previews for Oathbringer as they were being released, and for some reason I found it hard to start reading when the book came out.. I think it was the anticipation of getting to the part I was up to. so I’m boycotting this time too
  5. My friend gave me way of the kings to read after we were discussing authors, she was flabbergasted to hear I’d not heard of Sanderson before then. As I finished way of the kings, words of radiance was released so I just carried on
  6. Hi ive popped in before for various reasons but just downloaded the Shardcast podcast and realised I was deep enough into the fandom that it was time to talk to others haha
  7. Hi I’ll have a read id just finished ‘lies of Locke lamora’ and a friend shoved way of kings under my nose, calling me out for having not read it sooner. Hooked ever since.
  8. I have to say that I’m a big Mat fan too, though I found him a bit OP with everything he was able to do. My favourite scene was him in the tower saving moiraine. not sure about my favourite in the whole cosmere though, maybe lopen? His attitude makes every situation better. And I can relate to his inability to stop talking haha.
  9. I wonder if Sanderson was thinking of Aes Sedai when building her character.. I did like Jasnah, but after her ‘return’ I found that as Shallan had moved on from her, so had I.
  10. Hi! thanks for the welcome I’ll do some skim reading whilst I’m at work. as for favourite book of Sanderson... maybe words of radiance? I love the series but book 2 seemed to be the most exciting for me. Also memories of light, but I think that was more due to it being the epic conclusion to one of the greatest fantasy series ever what about yourself?
  11. Hi team. Names Dan, Englishman living in sunny NewZealand. Long time fan of Brandon’s. Haven’t read his young adult books (except skyward and starsight) but have devoured his other works. Primarily listen to the audio books so I am also as big a fan of Michael Kramer and Kate reading haha. I’ve just started listening to “Shardcast” podcast too look forward to chatting to you all. P.s this is my first forum experience
