  1. According to WoB Child of Tanavast comment is significant.
  2. Pattern killed Tyn. She had already given two truths by this point. So she was to the third ideal. The first ideal is always the same. And in WoR the comment is made how she said the first ideal long ago. She never had to say that ideal again. So by the time she runs into Tyn she already had three pattern blade. It was the first time she had summoned him. The line about “but for her it didn’t have to be ten seconds” is her recalling summoning from her childhood vs the summoning of a typical shard blade. She is 4th by the battle of Thaylen Field. And she has garnet shard plate when approached by Jasnah.
  3. Also what if Tanavast is the reason Syl slept for so many years. Maybe his replacement revolves around her, whether he knew it was specifically Kaladin or not. Maybe he prepared Syl for his replacement. He didn’t make Syl, the stormfather did, but he was still alive when he had the stormfather begin creating honor spren. Maybe he prepared her just as he prepared the visions for the stormfather to give to someone of his choosing at the appropriate time.
  4. So I was reading through the WoB today. And I did some googling and some thinking. Between the statement regarding the Child of Tanavast vs Child of Honor, and the one about the end of Stormlight being written in the first two books. I wonder if Kaladin becomes Honor. I could Maybe Tanavast knew his end was coming and he foresaw Kaladin and knew would come and be his replacement. The story Kaladin and wit create about fleet, he died but by will he rose and flew on the winds and won the race. I know these aren’t direct quotes as I’m going off memory. But this is my new theory. Kaladin will become Honor.
  5. Hmm... that makes me think I could do an open ended questionnaire of like 5-6 questions that would be dual purpose getting to know the students and putting them in orders. They wouldn’t necessarily have to be academically driven, it’s important to get to know students also. Think of any good open questions?
  6. I could use help determining how to choose which orders to use. And how to determine which order to put each kid in while still keeping the orders close to having the same number of kids in. I’d like to create a brief survey that could be academic and character driven.
  7. US, so far all the answers to this are Stormlight Archives, so surgebinding and Roshar. The only other book I’ve read that doesn’t take place on Roshar is Warbreaker. I started reading Stormlight Archives bc my nephews were named Kaladin and Dalinar, and I thought any good uncle should know where his nephews Mamés came from.
  8. No. But I figured the kids wouldn’t necessarily need to understand that part to grasp what was happening. All they would need to know is they have to do certain things to earn gemstones for their order, order with the most gems wins. i was thinking that some kids may ask about it get curious and read the books on their own.
  9. When I took the quiz I got willshaper. Though I’m not sure how I feel about Venli.... yet.
  10. I was planning to choose one of each of the following pairs: Wind/Sky Will/Stone Edge/Dust Else/Light Bond/Truth
  11. I probably wouldn’t use all orders was thinking like 4-6 orders. Also I teach High School. I was planning on rewarding gemstones (points) for various task or things done. And order with the highest gems gets 10pts on their unit test.
  12. So in the past I have seen people use Harry Potter houses to create a point systems for their classrooms, by placing kids in houses and granting points to the houses for students doing various things. I was thinking I could do something similar with orders of knights. I’m in the exploration phase of this right now and looking for thoughts and ideas.
