  1. Hey, welcome to the fandom! Favorite character? Favorite couple? And do you have a dream ship that probably won't happen? Could be across worlds.
  2. From the little glimpses of El's character, there's a small part of me that would absolutely love to see Jasnah and El. (Jasnel? Elnah?) I am painfully aware that this would never work, but a part of me feels like El is Jasnah without humanity, just pure calculating logic with no moral compass whatsoever. so yes, I know that they are way too similar to ship but that won't stop me from dreaming. Or maybe Raboniel and El? sound like the ultimate villainous power couple if you ask me. I
  3. Welcome! So far, who is your favorite character in the Cosmere?
  4. to actually use? I'd say the scadrial system. I love the straightforwardness of it all. but conceptually? definitely the Emperor's soul. I loved the whole idea of stamps, and altering one's own soul. I wouldn't say that he did nothing wrong, but I don't see him as wrong in his choices. In my opinion, he was a self-considered hero that grew weary of heroism. I don't think killing Alendi was wrong, neither was killing Kelsier. But I cannot justify all his actions over his centuries of rule. good question. that seems to me to be just a curse, but it would be quite amusing on Vasher i honestly just loved Shallan's past, and all interaction between Kaladin and Shallan, though I don't ship them. so I'm pretty sure I covered all questions? Let me know if I've missed any. Nice to meet you all!
  5. Hi! I'm a truthwatcher, and realistically, I'd want to live in Scadrial, alloy of law era. It seems the most similar to ours, and with a pretty cool magic system. It's also pretty safe and technologically advanced, and I can't give up all conveniences. how about you?
  6. I can see Adolin dying, but I hope not. Shallan is barely keeping it together now. If Adolin dies? She'll completely shatter. But then again, that could be very cool to see, so maybe I'm okay with that. It really feels like that
  7. Great to find a fellow Moash lover! See you 'round
  8. so, I technically joined a few months ago, but barely posted anything and never introduced myself! so, here are my favorites: favorite series: Stormlight archive favorite book:WoR favorite character: I'd say Shallan, with Vin a close second favorite short story/novella: Shadows for Silence in the Forest of Hell. Great characters, and a fantastic world. A lot darker than Sanderson's usual work, but that's what made it so great favorite villain: Zane, with Moash a close second. (I know, I'm gonna get a lot of hate for that, but I stand by it. Please don't kill me) it's great to join the community! See y'all on the forums!
  9. To point out the obvious, we finally get to see the application of the cover art! It'll be nice to see Shallan and Adolin alone together more now, I want to see how Adolin deals with her personalities, and how long that relationship can healthily work with Shallan drifting back to instability with Formless. This will separate Kaladin from the other characters, though. It looks like he will have a more individual arc for the time being, though I hope we get more between him and the other main characters later. His return to being a surgeon can have a lot of emotional impacts, and without Adolin and even Dalinar around to help him out...it's a good thing he has Syl.
  10. it looks like we'll get a little more of Jasnah's pov from RoW compared to the earlier 3 according to this annotation, but not by much. "Yeah, you don't get a lot of Jasnah in these early books though, unfortunately. There's a couple Jasnah viewpoints in the new book [Stormlight 4], so that's good. You'll get a little Jasnah, but you really aren't going to get a lot of Jasnah for a while."
  11. Gavilar could have a part in that. after the RoW prologue with Navani, I can see him while not being the cause of the possible traumatic event, in no way being helpful. The talk of Jasnah's "insanity" as a child seems to highlight the fact that mental illness is not dealt with well in Alethkar. We see this in Shallan's research on her disorder as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Gavilar had no patience to deal with his daughter, and may have locked her up or sent her away. You can see his impatience with her in the RoW prologue, where he pushes her betrothal to Amaram. He could very well be the "betrayer" of Jasnah's past alluded to in Oathbringer, leaving her to the "treatments" of her episodical insanity.
  12. I guess I'll have to wait. She has the potential for an amazing backstory and fascinating emotional complexity. I hope we at least get some foreshadowing and clues earlier.
  13. Does anyone think we'll get any of Jasnah's childhood story in RoW? There's been a little more allusion to her childhood insanity and trust issues in Oathbringer, and I really hoped she'd be the focus backstory character in RoW. She has a traumatic past and the foreshadowing of it seems to suggest that we'll be filled in at some point, maybe book 5. I just feel she'd be a much more fascinating character if we knew that childhood patterns that caused her to be so emotionally withdrawn. Any thoughts?
  14. Question; it's often talked about in vorinism the holiness of symmetry, and that taking a completely symmetrical name is blasphemous. it's mentioned in the book that Ialai's name is considered blasphemous, but what about Laral and Rillir? that's 3 characters with perfectly symmetrical names. Am I taking this too literally, or are there names all equally blasphemous?
