  1. Also, Mistborn commanding Koloss around. Thats the one example of this mechanic we have from a perspective charactor.
  2. Hoid has mentioned before that he has goals. Does Hoid have a specific acheivable ultimate goal which these goals serve, or is his mission one which he expects to be undertaking forever? Ultimately I'd probably get RAFO'd... but I think it might promt some interesting comments from Brandon.
  3. Great catch! This is really cleverly written.
  4. Dragon Steel and Aluminum could be one in the same. A before the shattering and after the shattering kind of thing... It would explain why it's so rare.
  5. I think it's about time someone asked Brandon "Is Adonalsium a name for a metal?" or something along those lines.
  6. Scars and injuries that you think are part of who you are don't seem to be healed by stormlight. Feruchemists might be too used to the act of storing for stormlight to "heal" the effects of them storing an attribute.
  7. That has some wonky implications.... Aluminum definitely has an identity, right? Everyone who ever says the word "Aluminum" is identifying it.
  8. I don't know who they will be... but there is deffinitly a flute that is a key element in the stories. The "dark wood" flute given to Kaladin by Hoid. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Trailman's_flute
  9. I like the worldhopper idea better...I can't think of any mechanics that have been put forward in Roshar that would make it easy for her to staple herself to reality the way Thaidakar did... I guess maybe a bondsmith could do it for her? She would make a GREAT mafia boss... imagine all her personailities taking on different roles in the organization without people realizing it's their leader they are with.
  10. You could probably do anything a shard could do... with the limitation being that you basically need to write code each time in order to do it. That's a pretty big limitation... but it is powerful at a slow pace.
  11. If I had to guess what it was going to be, I'd guess that the sytem would be ever-changing... maybe not a soft magic system in a technical sense, but soft in that it never works the way its user would expect... like... it may be a system that is the least connected to "intent". I dont think the Cosmere will go soft with an entire worlds "magic system" but Whimsey is likely the closest we'll get to that, whatever it ends up being.
  12. It's definitly a series that is worth rereading. I've read some series more times than others but I've read every book except Elantris at least twice Well worth it, every time!!
  13. And on top of all that, it seems like bondsmiths can literally just alter a whole host of magical related things, including another persons connection to whatever makes them magical in the first place.
  14. The first idea sounds like a very very cool ability for the protagonist of a story to have.
  15. That makes sense. We know it's a mechanic that shards are capable of (Ruin can send messages and Preservation can listen. Odium can form a sort of mental VR world to hold direct conversations in peoples minds)... we've even seen Dalinar speak in Kaladin's mind during a highstorm. I don't see why some magic system wouldn't allow for a form of telepathy.
  16. We (kind of) have 3 examples of Shards without Vessels right now... Honor on Roshar, and Devotion/Dominion on Sel.
  17. Welcome Alex!! I think you'll enjoy it a lot here I know I do.
  18. I don't think it's any more OP or insane than a giant lightweight sword that insta-kills your enemies.
  19. This would be an incredible question for Brandon. One that I think he would answer for certain too.
  20. I would choose to have a Divine Breath (for immortality and the option to save someones life from nearly any problem I can think of) paired with the surge of gravitation, because flying and immortality sound like the best methods to travel the world and do as much good as humanly possible.
  21. Keep working at it. The organization tends to come after the ideas have all been thrown into a variety of notes on my phone, voice notes, random thoughts that couldn't possibly count as "words" and random pages of writing to see how the system actually functions in writing If you looked at this magic system when it was half together It wouldnt have made much sense at all!
  22. Thank you very much! Yes. that makes a lot of sense. I appreciate the input. Thanks a ton!! I worked hard on it!!
  23. It's also quite possible that a significant change happens on Roshar that alters or changes the magic system prior to this AND Nomad has traveled more of the cosmere than potentially even Wit (at Wit's own account). So it's possible or even likely that he has access to more magic systems and that some things he can do have nothing to do with Aux.
  24. Isn't it also speculated on by a character in the books as being because of singer blood as well?
  25. Anarchist armies have existed numerous times throughout history, George Orwell served in one in Spain and has written about how the army was managed, if you'd like an in depth look. To make a long story short: the same way that anarchist governance can work, through a communal effort, built off of voluntary mutual aid, so too can a military organization be governed. Most of the things you mentioned do not actually require a hierarchical structure to be managed... and for those that do (military command, for instance) they are considered to be justifiable hierarchies and are typically always organized in a way so that any "leader" can always be ousted from their position at any time. I do agree with you here. Having no centralized form of organization when going up against a larger group has its drawbacks, and those drawbacks tend to lead to the centrally organized power slowly taking territory and absorbing the population under their statehood. This is why if a functional anarchist society were to exist in the Cosmere (or anywhere else for that matter) it would need to be outside of the sphere of influence of larger powers; or have overwhelming support from the majority of people in it's region/sphere of influence. When you think about it... that's kind of true for any form of society though... going up against a larger power will almost always end with the larger power absorbing you in some capacity.
