  5. Suddenly, Vin grew pale. Elend paused, glancing at her, sensing that something was wrong. Not with what he'd said, something else. What is it? Assassins? Mist spirits? Koloss?"I just realized something," Vin said, looking at him with those intense eyes of hers. "I can't go to a ball—I didn't bring a gown!”
  6. Hey @Grim_Aeonian, Welcome to the 17th Shard I would say keep the re-read of TWOK at 10... it is a good number. Perhaps it is time to get the re-read counter for TWOR and Oathbringer to 10 too. Hope you have fun discussing Sanderson books on this forum.
  7. When you extensively imagine when Frost would look like and this is what you find matches it the closest
  8. "I understood in a moment of stillness, Those candle flames were like the lives of men. So fragile. So deadly. Left alone, they lit and warmed. Let run rampant, they would destroy the very things they were meant to illuminate. Embryonic bonfires, each bearing a seed of destruction so potent it could tumble cities and dash kings to their knees. In later years, my mind would return to that calm, silent evening, when I had stared at rows of living lights. And I would understand. To be given loyalty is to be infused like a gemstone, to be granted the frightful license to destroy not only one’s self, but all within one’s care" - The way of Kings
  9. In my opinion, Shallan was never right for Kaladin. Kaladin needs someone who is stable, not someone who uses humor as a defense mechanism. However, this part in the story still got me. How he yearns to be happy and finds it beautiful when someone has that capability of at least projecting happiness
  10. I guess I have an issue with people hating on Moash or hating on any character. I believe this stems from their lack of seeing things from the character's perspective. These characters (Moash/Elhokar/Dalinar/Shallan etc) may have a bias or tainted view about certain things. We might not agree with these views but these views are there because of this character's past experiences. That very fact is what makes them a realistic and amazing character. After all, put yourself in the character's shoes... if you had to experience what they did, isn't it possible that you might react the way that they did? Isn't that what we as a reader like to see in characters - depth, motivation and a certain degree of realism despite the fantastical element of the world they are in.
  11. In my opinion, Moash is the other side of the coin. He is what Kaladin could have potentially turned out to be if he had given in to his desire for vengeance/anger in WoR. Moash wanted Elhokar dead despite the fact that he was not directly responsible for his parents' deaths. He didn't care that it was Roshone who was truly responsible. Like any person seeing red, he placed his blame in the person before him and then actively went about doing whatever he could to ensure that he exacted his revenge. In all honesty, I do not have the strong hatred towards Moash as many other readers do. I do believe that characters such as Amaram, Roshone and Sadeas are insufferable too. However I believe Moash gets the most hate as the others are either dead or inconsequential to the story right now. As for your point regarding Shallan, Dalinar and Adolin, I agree that they have character flaws that you have mentioned. However at the very least, the point that separates them from characters like Moash is that they are willing to change for the better. They are willing to work on their flaws, broaden their way of thinking, changing traditional stereotypes along the way and trying to become a better person. As Dalinar says it best, "Sometimes a hypocrite is nothing more than a man in the process of changing"
