  1. Evelyn wanted to scream. To run from the blackness, from the smoke that billowed out dark and thick from the sinking temperatures and Rob's unhinged laugh, from the wrongness that filled the room. But someone was already screaming, and anguished near-shout. Rob was laughing. James sank to the floor. Evelyn set her feet, and she raised her hands. She couldn't fight him, couldn't trace those chains through the air while Rob was still standing there, hand dripping, needing help. She couldn't run. She couldn't fall. So she stood, as fear sought to tear her down. She stood, hands frozen in the air, and hoped desperately that it would be enough. @I think I am here.@Wyndlerunner@AonEne
  2. Evelyn's eyes widened as she listened. Genocide? She felt as though she'd been doused in ice water. They couldn't. Who-? Every portion of her mind rebelled at the idea, and Evelyn backed away several steps. She hardly knew what she was doing, rationality and recognition washed out by a rush of noise. Rob had been the one to bring it up? She couldn't believe it. She couldn't believe any of it. Ene squirmed in her grip, and Evelyn realized she'd been holding her too tightly. She loosened her grip, unwilling to move, unwilling to be left alone through all this, only for Ene to jump free and race around a corner in a gray blur. Evelyn couldn't even watch. She stared at Rob, eyes wide in disbelief, then at James. She'd thought Rob was nice. @AonEne @I think I am here. @Wyndlerunner
  3. I should probably actually get on the Shard some times to interact again instead of just lurking. I would also like to know what the results are.
  4. *eyes reminder carefully* *looks at the general lack of progress on the rest of the thread* Uh... I reject your reality, and substitute my own?
  5. Same sentiment as Condensation! And while I certainly can't stop you from thinking that way, you can also hardly stop me from pointing out all the things about it that I love! *proceeds to put it in a spoiler tag* Why? Who knows. Compliments are weird sometimes, so if you really don't want them I'm not going to force you to take mine. Though I do feel the oddest urge to give them all names. Like, that one could be Anne, the hoodie guy could be Zach, there are endless possibilities! But, uh, I'll probably try to resist the serial naming urge. Also the one that insists that, "no, look, seriously, they're characters and they need backstories and look at all the plot potential." . . . So anyways, hope that helped! Or at least didn't harm!
  6. Healer startles, turning to see the passed out Love Interest. "I can try. You're lucky that mostly dead is still a little bit alive." She barely flinches at Corrupted Hero's death, too focused on trying to help Love Interest, though she does begin to grumble something under her breath. It sounds rather like "See if I ever work with Heroes and Villains again, dying all over the place . . . attacking . . . no respect for . . . plot holes . . ." All this while bandaging the worst of Love Interest's wounds, pulling the necessary supplies from a satchel that seems way too small to actually carry everything she's using. Once she's finished, she stands again, brushing hair out of her face with the back of her hand. "I've done what I can. Now it's up to him, and whatever care he gets from here on out. If you're smart, you'll find a place where you all can rest and recover."
  7. A wild Healer appears! She squeaks upon finding herself between Corrupted and Possible Hero, throwing her hands up in. . . kind of surrender? "Don't kill me! I'm completely useless in all fights, except as a human shield, and I would really prefer not to be used as one!"
  8. *edges into the room* *sees what people are doing* *considers leaving again* Um, hi? I'm also female, so. . .
  9. I'll definitely be sad to see this go! I actually pulled the sight up earlier to see what the next drawing was before realizing that technically the month was at an end, and there would be no more.
  10. I kept meaning to say this sooner, but I might not have a submission for this time. Not only am I nearly out of time, but videos tend to kill the computer that I use. I could try to do something, that would doubtless end up very bad, but videos aren't really a great medium for my situation.
  11. Traitor, suddenly realizing she is not being chased, slows down, stops entirely, looks around in confusion, then shrugs before going on her way.
  12. Traitor arrives on the scene and pounces on the moving target (Corrupted Hero) with an instinctive reaction that would best be comparable to that of a cat. She manages to get in one good hit on the Corrupted Hero before suddenly realizing who she is and fleeing for her life.
  13. 454. Pay close attention to your surroundings, especially the sounds of the same. Sudden silence, particularly in forests well populated with wildlife, though the rule applies anywhere, is a signal to immediately begin preparing your magical wards. Should you lack magical protection against external threats, one, how have you survived this long, and two, the silence is instead a sign that you should either prepare your weapons, or flee your location as fast as possible. The low, eerie sound of stringed instruments is another warning sign. Boss music is a sign, depending on the purpose of your group, that you are either approaching your goal or should, once again, flee as fast as possible in the opposite direction as the one you had previously been traveling. The only exception to this rule is when you can actually see the musician. 455. Never run with pointy objects. You are likely not the chosen one, even if the chosen one role exists within your world. Therefore, karma occasionally demands idiotic deaths in order to create stakes, increase the randomness of the death, and to make examples for the rule. If you have not been instructed on how to properly run with dangerous weapons, this may be you. You will trip on a root/stone/nothing/your own foot, impale yourself, and either slow the party down* to the point where they are ambushed, or die. *Such slowing will often cause great annoyance to your traveling companions, and they may kill you out of sheer annoyance. Other options include abandonment, as it is better that one man should die than that the whole party should suffer.
  14. Traitor is dying of boredom. No one has given her a quest, and so all she can do is wander around (aka: snoop), train, and think. She hates it. She's practically actually dying, because her character wasn't meant for this! She is the agent of chaos! Of change! Therefore, Traitor abandons the lair without warning and sets off on her own, completely sure that they won't think she's defected at all. After all, she did give them plenty of warning, and even baked them some cookies as a thank you.
  15. Traitor stares mournfully at a cookie before putting it back in her pack. She still hasn't eaten any of them. Traitor is becoming increasingly restless, used to moving around everywhere, and suggests infiltrating the group of heroes. She also suggests Evil Scientist creates something to un-corrupt the hero again so they have something to fight, building a giant cookie fortress, crafting weapons out of tuning forks, and hiding decoy "My One Weakness'" everywhere. Obviously, she's willing to take up the task. Or she could spy on the common folk, or- pretty much anything, honestly, just so long as it's something where she can actually be doing something.
  16. People think that I'm nice, but actually I'm just evil. I'm glad the feedback is actually helpful, even if it's not always the most appreciated. I tend to be annoyingly honest, so whatever I say is generally also going to be accurate to my own perception as well. Let me know if you ever want more feedback on stuff, and I'd probably be happy to give it
  17. I mean, I thought about doing a picture. Once. For about 15 minutes before my art skills failed me and I just went, "yeah, how about words." It makes sense, kind of, it's just interesting. Also, since you missed doing your own piece before (And yes, I know that was intentional, you get compliments anyways because vengeance! And also because of the vast amount of things that I liked that I don't want to ignore). "An Act of Dying Justice": Love the themes of justice/vengeance. They interact nicely with Corvus' powers, and I love the memories that Aethan clings to as well. The flashbacks were extremely well integrated, especially when we learn of Aethan's abilities. There are some places where you could cut out some excess description, but there were also things about it that I really liked. Corvus and Aethan as an unreliable narrator, for one, along with the contrast of the Pacis' white uniforms. Traditionally white symbolizes, virtue, integrity, peace, things like that, and that symbolism contrasted really well with both the actions of some of the Pacis and the later blood. Speaking of, creative names! The name of the Pacis worked really well for me, along with the name of the country.
  18. I wrote these last week, partially as potential games submissions, partially because they got stuck in my head and writing was about the only way to get them out. Nothing really horrible about them, just not a ton of emotional connection either. Along with all the faults I could pick out but am consciously ignoring I should probably just let people read for themselves, though, so here you go, if you want to read them. First one is called "Jobs Like Ours," and was mostly just to explore an idea. Second one is called "Blur," and, well, you can blame a song for it's existence.
  19. What is it about creative people that makes us compete for last place? Though if anyone's was going to be the worst, it would obviously be mine.
  20. Traitor returns, accepting the cookie happily before inspecting it and tucking it away in her pack. She's unsure of whether the cookie barrage is an attack or not, but accepts all the cookies just as happily, offering some to Villain's Lieutenant and Evil Sidekick as well. She'd offer some to Mentor, but by this point Mentor has already left, and Traitor is pretty sure she would accept the cookies either.
  21. Traitor is now even more confused, unused to being invited places, especially not when people know who she is. Traitor follows Mentor a few steps before pausing to look back at Evil Sidekick and Villain's Lieutenant. She's still unsure, looking for some kind of instruction or acceptance.
  22. Traitor no longer knows what to do and looks to Villain, Villain's Lieutenant, Evil Sidekick, and even Mentor for directions. Her monologue has trailed off. Traitor is too confused at Corrupted Hero's sudden decent into tears to continue without external prompting.
  23. Traitor is aware that Side Character and "Comic Relief" are leaving, but does nothing to stop it. Instead, she begins to yell loudly about corruption and heroes, entering a monologue to distract attention away from the fleeing characters.
