I just wanna hear more about Kaladin's little fling. Sounds like he had a fun night after some drinks and hooked haha

Gavilar was trying to become the new Honor
DarthHoid replied to Solomonster's topic in Stormlight Archive
I agree he definitely wanted to be a shard. He already saw himself as worthy of Godhood. I wondered if he got tainted by an Unmade, but it seemed like he was plenty bad on his own. He seemed to keep a lot from the other SoH. I wonder if he had the means to attempt Shardhood, like in Secret History.- 49 replies

I'm just hoping it's a human and not some unseen Spren watching for them. Time for Dalinar to play some Game of Thrones and start feeding false info until something turns up.

Its mentioned as a possibility, which makes sense to me but that of course doesn't make it canon. But broken can probably mean many different things. The main characters appear to be broken in ways very relative to our own world, but their may be other interpretations of broken. Possibly even just self perception, which could open it up to the entire of humanity. Seems like Singers/Listeners are complete opposite, since they seem to be so in tune with one another, part of a greater whole. Though individual Singers like Eshonai and Venli seem to distinguish themselves as separate, possibly adding to Broken theory.

Honestly, I don't forsee a relationship in Kaladin's upcoming character development. I'm sure he'll have someone, maybe beyond the scope of the books, between 5 and 6, but I think he's got some work to do on his soul. Even Shallan probably wouldn't have a romance arc if it wasn't pressed upon her by Jasnah. Radiants are broken people, and broken people are difficult in relationships, especially when they're both broken. Though I will admit, its definitely more likely for him to end up with someone without Radiance.

Prologue made me think Gavilar may not be actually dead.
DarthHoid replied to Harbour's topic in Stormlight Archive
I personally hope he stays dead. I know he wanted to find a way to immortality, and perhaps through sheer will he pulled a similar move to Kelsier's. Though I'm not sure if its as easy on current Roshar. -
I'm personally stumped by this new form of transportation and many of you all sound like storming Cosmere PHDs. I do have some questions. From what I'm gathering, the Singer reduces himself to pure Investiture in the form of a red-violet light? Could this in anyway be related to how Human souls are represented back in Shadesmar, as little lights? How are the Singers or Fused represented there? How can they recreate the body without taking a piece with them to start from?

I really want to watch this video, but I have to ask. Can anyone provide a link of where to read the Chapters after Prologue and 1. I can't find anything. Unless it's not there. Then I'll just watch the video.

Since we have to assume a lot on the mechanics of the Cosmere, I would think that simply associating yourself with something gives it substance. Similar to the way a person can't regrow or heal lost limbs if it's been too long, probably because they're spirit web is now mapped that way. Whereas someone like Lopen figured it was only a matter of time until he got his arm back. Kaladin associates a lot of his positive feelings with the wind, and I feel that as the Connection between him and the Wind continues to grow, they may even become Higher forms of Spren, actively seeking to inspire those feelings within him when he's in one of his depressed states. It may perhaps come to a point where he has to make a decision between bonding with Honor or the Wind, representing freedom from oaths in a way?

Thanks. Kinda figured, but I do keep finding something I didn't know before every time I look around so thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Just rereading Oathbringer and a part stuck out to me, so of course it led to some extra side reading on Hoid. I know he's been confirmed to have powers of Fortune. In the book he says that when he was young he vowed to always be "there" when he was needed. Seems obviously related to him usually being in the midst of something important. Could the vow itself be related to his abilities, like an oath on Roshar? Is there an answer I haven't found?

Just rereading Words of Radiance. These may be obvious questions, but I couldn't find the answers. Maybe I will as I continue, though my curiosity is boiling. What is it that attracts or creates spren? Can Spren compound off one another?

I definitely agree on the Returned being "Investiture vampires", but Mr. Sanderson is known to talk about doing one thing one way, and then flipping it on it's head in another. Maybe it could be pulled off, instead of them being Gods, perhaps they'd be seen as demons or monsters.

I love the whole charisma aspect of Vampires so that's great. I also thought about their vision being based on seeing a person's Spiritweb, rather than the physical world itself, or maybe a combination of both.

I think I'd be great if they came about after the Ascension, maybe an offshoot of a previous race. Perhaps they adapted to low sunlight and must now live in hiding. I like the temporary power idea for the Vampire. I think some memory would be another good thing to take too. I feel that most things on Scadrial are superficial, created by a Shard or someone else, that it would be interesting to see if they could have developed naturally. I've always wondered what would happen if the higher powers weren't always shaping the world they want it.
