"Food would be nice" Aaron groans softly
QuoteThey fought the Chimera. Terrance almost died and needed gorgon blood, so we’re down to one vial of that which Aaron has. Edgar’s leg is now pretty badly hurt.

Just now, Thaidakar the Ghostblood said:
“The place with the hot springs I keep hearing about? I could use me one of those… do you think I could take one with me when I leave this place?”
he looked at the menu and pondered over the options “I will take some chouta and the one called the pewter arm, if that’s alright.”
“…they are craters in a mountain filled with water. I don’t think you can take one with you.”
But with all the new magic he kept hearing about, it very well might be possible.
”If you somehow are able to, do not take one. They belong to the Horneaters.”
Lunamor led the man over to a table, then disappeared into the kitchen to prepare his order. The smell of frying oil quickly wafted out. It was easy to tell when someone was making chouta.

The man smiled truly this time, "You could say it is, depending on who makes it. What sort of drinks do you have in this heck hole of a planet?" Quickly, he added, "No offense."
“Eh, the lowlands are a heck hole. Urithiru isn’t lowland, but he is Alethi. He is basically the same. The Horneater Peaks, they are much better.”
Lunamor wasn’t about to offer any Horneater alcohol, however.
”We have all colors of wines as well many special cocktails and drinks.”
He gestured towards the glittering menu proudly displayed on the wall (the first post ).

The man raised a hand, giving a small semblance of a smile, “Do you keep any beer in this place?”
“Beer?”
Why did people keep asking for things Lunamor hadn’t heard of before? He scratched his head.
”This thing, we do not have him. Is he a type of stew?”
He was always happy to learn new recipes, provided they had a limited number of spikes.

A man entered the restaurant. He was grizzled, old and his black and silver uniform looked as if it had gone through a rose bush. He sat at the bar, a hand on the sword at his side. On his brow was a circlet with a jewel in it that had not before been seen on Roshar, or in this galaxy. Hanging from his shoulder was an instrument wrapped in a cloth that was sewn in strange patterns of strange colors.
Lunamor excused himself from his current conversation, then walked over to the newcomer. He was wearing very strange clothes and had some sort of crown. Was he royalty? The man would’ve had guards if that was the case. Perhaps he was very confident royalty. Or the circlet was just befitting his odd attire. He couldn’t determine if the colors of the cloth he had wrapped around something clashed or not. This weirdness made him suspicious of the man; the unidentifiable object hanging from his shoulder didn’t help.

"No, of course not, why would I-" Twinkle hurried to answer, but trailed off.
The question wasn't really worth asking, was it? She just had to look around. Rob had betrayed everyone, but one person above all of them. His spren.
Cup was no more, and Twinkle had avoided thinking about it. And who was to say it wouldn't happen to the rest of them?
Ed is not like that though.
Cup must have thought the same about Rob.
Rob probably felt backed into a corner. He must have thought he had no choice, like I told Ed.
And how do you know he will never feel like that too?
I know him well, he won't.
You know him? When did you bond, four months ago? Humans hide things. And even if he isn't, they change.
If that happens, so be it.
...
The other voice finally shut up.
So be it.
"I-" she started. "I'll be careful." she had been whispering the whole time but the sound now came out even quieter than before. It was barely audible.
"Are you alright, Glint?" she said. "I-I mean, I'm not implying-" she trailed off again. I'm not implying I suspect Ben of anything. She couldn't bring herself to finish.
“I’m alright!”
Glint pulsed slightly brighter, both at Twinkle being alright and her willingness to be careful. Thinking more about what he had said, however, he dimmed again. He’d lied. Cup was dead.
“Well, not alright. I am very sad.”
Had Twinkle been implying that Ben would hurt Glint? He briefly felt indignant about that before realizing that he had just implied the same thing about Edwin.
He could trust Ben. Ben didn’t hurt people like Rob had. Like all of the others did, or were at least supposed to… So many radiants were made for violence… Sometimes Ben made Glint be a sword, but he didn’t hurt people with him. He preferred him as a shield.
Edwin wasn’t strong enough to know how to hurt people very well, yet. Cassie could, though only recently. James could, but Glint doubted he’d be able to kill the Nightwatcher. And Shana… her purpose was killing. But Ben loved her. Mahad loved her. Rob had loved her too. But Rob had seemed to like Ben… this was so confusing.

Twinkle almost started flying up to tell Ed someone was talking to him, before she realized the other spren was addressing her. That had been a whisper too, she figured Ed wasn't supposed to hear.
This was a first for her. She didn't talk to the other spren much, or the other Radiants for that matter, partly because Ed wasn't that social to begin with. It was a good opportunity.
After making sure he hadn't realized anything, she went down to where Glint was waiting.
"Hi, Glint. Is something wrong?" she said, lowering her voice too.
Twinkle was ok. Edwin wasn’t a murderer. Glint paused for a moment, unsure how best to answer Twinkle’s question. Things were bad, but nothing appeared to be wrong with Twinkle.
”Things are very wrong, so I needed to check that you weren’t dead. You are not, so that is one not-wrong thing!”
That seemed sufficiently tactful to him. He’d added that last bit in an attempt to be cheerful. Now that there was less risk of Edwin hearing, Glint’s voice had stopped shaking.
”Are you hurt?”
He hadn’t heard of a radiant hurting their spren before without killing, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t possible.

Glint tried to cry for a while longer, his ineffective lullaby trailing off. He managed a few sniffles, but it just sounded like Ben when he had a cold. Why couldn’t he cry? He felt sad. Humans cried when something sad happened because they had emotions. Glint had emotions too. Was that not good enough?
Even among spren, mistspren were known for their lack of emotional displays. It was hard to make expressions when you had a crystal mask for a face. They still felt emotions, though. They were quite strong feelings, sometimes more so than most others’. Not being able to cry hadn’t bothered Glint before. He’d never wanted to. But now he couldn’t mourn his friend.
He dimmed. Cup was dead. It was Rob’s fault. Her Radiant, the person she had trusted the most in the world, had murdered her. Rob hadn’t seemed like the sort of person to do that. Were any of the others like he was, too? Kind on the outside, but rotten on the inside…
Glint needed to check on the other spren. He had to make sure that they were all ok. Mahad would be fine. Shana could be trusted, and she needed her spren right now. Glint slid across the floor to the nearest Radiant, still less bright than usual. He didn’t know Twinkle or Edwin very well; that meant the latter could be a prime suspect. He stopped at Edwin’s feet and whispered.
“Twinkle?”
Glint almost never spoke to people other than Ben, so his voice was a barely audible whisper. It sounded like wind chimes in a soft breeze and trembled slightly from nervousness. Normally he would’ve asked Ben for help, but Ben assumed the best in people. He wouldn’t like that Glint was investigating his friends for murder.
QuoteI’m gonna ignore the fact that Glint spoke to everyone earlier in this scene, I’d forgotten that he almost never talks to people other than Ben
