    "I... don't need that."

Jenny looked back to Terrance. He was speaking, that was good. He apparently wasn’t injured enough to need ambrosia. She wasn’t sure if he was downplaying his injuries or not, but he didn’t seem to be actively bleeding out, so she opted not to push it. Putting the ambrosia back in her pocket, she was quite relieved that it hadn’t been used. They were running out.

”Is it ok if I ask what’s wrong?”

    He didn't say anything.

Jenny turned to Elsie instead, speaking in a whisper.

    ”Is Terrance ok?”

She pulled out some emergency ambrosia from her pocket just in case. Seeing him bleeding and on the floor crying terrified her. Terrance hadn’t cried like this when he’d gotten injured before.

Eventually, she found Elsie and Terrance in a [presumably empty?] section of the train further down. Terrance was sitting on the floor, sobbing.

Jenny’s eyes widened, and she dashed over, too concerned to worry about scaring Terrance away. She managed to keep her last few steps to a walking pace, however.

    ”Are you ok, Terrance?”

She tried her best to speak softly and calmly, but a little bit of panic crept through. Was he hurt? It looked like there was blood on his arm. Has he been attacked? She quickly glanced around, scanning for threats before turning her attention back to Terrance.

Not spotting Terrance, Jenny walked down the aisle with footsteps so soft that she was completely silent. She kept her face tilted slightly downwards and put her hair up into a bun with one of the many hairbands on her wrist. She intended to continue on until she saw someone familiar. With each step she took further away from the rest of her friends, she grew more and more anxious. Where was Terrance?

“Yeah, maybe. I’m not very sneaky though.” He shrugged.

“I’m pretty sneaky. I’ve had lots of practice.”

Jenny was experienced both in hiding from monsters and spying on elderly satyrs. She wavered for a moment, looking at her cards, then placed them face down on the table. She gave an impressively intimidating stare at the other players, focusing on Ed in particular. She managed to conjure a few shadows both for dramatic effect and out of genuine intensity.

    ”No one touch my cards.”

She then walked to the end of the train car and stood to the side of the door, barely revealing part of her face as she glanced down the other car.

What all would Jenny see at this point? Also, a note that she is pretty sneaky and would be very difficult to spot in this situation.

“I don’t know. That might make it worse. He’s so confusing.”

Jenny held her cards up in front of her face again, but this time it was in an attempt to hide her panic. Would Terrance run away if he saw people he hated come to bother him? Was he already trying to run away? Should they stop him? It was dangerous to be alone, but it was also dangerous to be on the quest. She hoped he’d stay, though.

”Maybe we can try and see how he is without letting ourselves be seen.”

“Do you think Terrance is ok?” Edgar whispered to Jenny. “I don’t want him to get hurt, I’m worried about him.” @Lunamor

Jenny peeked out from over the top of her cards. Terrance was missing. He’d left a while ago. How had she not remembered that? She always did this, got too fixated on something. She never could pay attention to what was actually important.

”Should we go try and check on him?”

  8. 1 hour ago, Weaver of Lights said:

“Are you enjoying the game?” Edgar tried to distract himself from Terrance’s sudden disappearance. He hoped the boy was ok.

Jenny nodded enthusiastically. Her attention was completely zeroed in on the game. Her face was rather obscured by her cards.

    ”This is already really fun!”

She was excited by the fact that she was actually playing with other people more than anything.

Oof, if Jenny ends up hearing his reasoning she’s gonna have a real bad time.

He smiled at her still, noticing her looking at his cards, knowing she was on her way to learningg how to really play the game. He had three blues, including a +2; three yellows, all numbers; two reds, one a skip; and four greens, including a reverse and +2. He also had a wild.

Jenny mulled over her options. Going for yellow would probably mean she didn’t have much risk of being hit with any of Ed’s special cards. That would be her new strategy. Peeking at cards turned out to be very helpful.

He smiled at her, blushing slightly, “Sorry, old instincts.”

Jenny smiled back, but continued to hold her cards extremely close to her face. Ed probably wasn’t trying to lull her into a false sense of security, but it couldn’t hurt to be prepared. She was now rather tempted to peek at Ed’s cards too, however. After all, it was only fair…

Edgar attempted to glance at her cards. He tended to do that when playing card games, it came with being an older brother.

Jenny noticed Ed trying to peek out of the corner of her eye, and held her cards even closer to her face. Unfortunately, this was also making them difficult for her to read. She shot him a stink eye. She couldn’t let anyone else beat her, especially if it was by cheating.

Elsie felt nervous. "I gotta go find the bathroom. I'll be right back..." She walked out. She had to find Terrance.

Jenny took the opportunity to study her deck some more. She really, really wanted to win. She apparently seemed to have quite a bit of pent up competitiveness.

    He shuffled adeptly, then dealt.

Jenny picked up her cards, then kept them extremely close to her face, trying her best to prevent them from being seen by anyone else. It was pretty overkill, but she wasn’t taking any chances.

  14. 1 minute ago, Random Bystander said:

"Ok. So there are these cards." She held up the +2 and +4 cards. "They make people draw more cards. When you stack them, they add that many cards to be drawn by the next person." She explained. "Now, for jump ins, if you have a duplicate card to the one on the discard pile, you can play it at any time."

Jenny nodded. Fortunately that seemed to have only minimal math involved. She probably wouldn’t humiliate herself too badly.

    ”That makes sense.”
