In all honesty I have no strong feelings either way regarding syladin, however in the interest of entertaining the possibility I have been listening to a podcast were one of the main couples is between essentially frankesteins monster and a ghost , the point being they are explicitly romantic without the possibility of physical intimacy . This is different however as there are undoubtedly some cosmere shenanigans that would allow for that, but I don’t think there needs to ( this goes for all spren x human/listener) be a blanket throwing out for that possibility I just don’t think the relationship between syl and kaladin needs to be a romantic one but I do think romantic spren x physical beings will eventually happen, but I would personally prefer if spren if they desired romantic connection sought that out in someone they weren’t bonded to so tightly, since they need that bond to be sapient

i dont mean sanderson necessarily but at this point, if you dint have a reason for why every single character is straight and cis then thats just not realistic, Im done with calling it anything other than lax writing. And I mean this as a general statement, Sanderson has gotten better at this. “content has no bearing over quality” no offense but that makes no sense.

i think i would be reasonable in calling it bad writing to have absolutely zero lgbtq rep

you’re right, technically the singers are non-binary but the also aren’t human, they’re more of a tetranary or something like that , which is great but i wont call that rep . Characters who aren’t human and shouldn’t really have human genders are great but actual humans exist, and gender isn’t as solid as that would lead us to believe

I think there is not necessarily an issue, but an all to common instance of the only non-binary character being one that wouldnt have a human. concept of gender , and I think itd be neat if there were more non-binary characters who were human. I dont think this is coming to the cosmere anytime soon but an eldritch abomination can dream.

The Mechanisms are immortal hoidlike space faring pirates, not in the cosmere of course. To be more specific how do you think a cosmere wide band would function in era four cosmere ?.

Do we have any confirmation of wear the smoke goes when nightblood kills something ? We know all investiture is keyed to certain shards and if the black smoke is investiture then who does it belong to ?

I think that when Brandon does decide to write a gay male protagonist, he will do wonderful job of it.

I still don't really jive with or understand the difficulty with writing lgbt characters, and I don't mean without any of the sensitivity reading or research that wouldn't normally go into writing about a group of people that oneself isn't a member of . A while back I read the book The Raven Tower where the main viewpoint character is a trans man, now I myself am not trans so I can not speak to whether the portrayal was accurate to what actual trans men experience, but I have friends who are trans and to my cis eyes it seemed like a well written example of representation . Was the main character being trans really relevant to the plot ? no, but does it need to be ?. I think besides the lack of representation, the nearly complete absence of lgbt characters just pulls me out of the narrative. It's like when I'm watching a movie and the oly women present are the ones "relevant to the plot" it kinda just feels contrived
