  1. So for my English class I can build an event or setting from a book I have read as a project. I can’t decide what I want to do though. It can’t be overly complicated as I need to have it done in a week. I’ve had a few ideas, but didn’t really like them that much. Any suggestions?
  2. Ah, figured it was that or White Sand. I haven’t read Shadows of Silence in a while though, so I wasn’t sure.
  3. Colors is from Warbreaker, shadows I’m not sure, maybe White Sand. Rust and Ruin is from Mistborn era 2.
  4. You can tell I have a history class at the end.
  5. SCUD!
  6. My favorite is probably Way of Kings. That isn’t quite set yet, I’ll probably decide once I finish Rhythm of War again in a week. It’s mostly because Kaladin is my favorite character. Final Empire is also where I started Cosmere. By the way, you can quote multiple people by using the little plus button under the post you want to quote. We generally frown upon double posting, but it happens.
  7. Ouch, this game is fun. Yes, it can go on for way too long. I played it for a good three hours last time. But the expansion packs really add something in my opinion. Exploding Kittens I can see where you’re coming from though.
  8. Welcome! There’s plenty of Cosmere fans to go around. Be very wary of spoilers since you haven’t read Oathbringer yet. Don’t worry as much about Rhythm of War spoilers, they are generally kept to their own topics. Anyways, glad to have you! If you are simply looking to hang out, go check out the community tab. We talk about everything there. And, as always, a question: what’s your favorite book?
  9. I’ve never had frogs, but man alligator tastes like chicken. I’m not sure if it’s white meat though, I’ve only had it once.
  10. Over the last few days I have read a lot, and suddenly I was done with Oathbringer! I believe that is 5 read throughs of that book. And man this book is wonderful. Part of what I love about Sanderson is that you can always find something new. Every reread, there’s some connection that you didn’t see before. It’s wonderful. Anyways, this morning I starter Rhythm of War, so SPOILERS for that until I finish the book. I’ll do my best to remember to keep it all in spoiler tags, so you should be safe scrolling through.
  11. Hey all! I’ve had this idea for a while, so I figured I should actually do it. I’m going to talk about the books I’m currently reading. I’ll give updates, thoughts, and ideas. Feel free to join in the discussion and give me recommendations for what I should read next. Currently has spoilers for: At the moment I am rereading Stormlight. I am currently in Oathbringer, still towards the beginning. I believe Dalinar just had his spar with Kadash. Now I know that’s a Dalinar part, but man do I love me some Kaladin. I love his character development in this book, especially when he visits Hearthstone. He’s becoming a better person while dealing with Roshone, but reading about him punching Roshone is so satisfying. I love it.
  12. Favorite month! School’s out, sheep get worked, and branding season.

  13. Yea. There’s a lot in that interlude that can reference either one.
  14. Alright, some progress has been made! I am currently in the middle of the meeting of Radiants Dalinar calls when Shallan doodles instead of taking notes. I’ve been having thoughts about the Defiant interlude. Are there any good theories around for who Puuli is waiting for? I’ve been thinking about it possibly being the Wandersail crew, since they are supposed to come from the Orgin.
  15. When you and your mom have a casual competition to see who will finish Stormlight first. (We’ve both read it multiple times.)
  16. I already read this. Self promo? Not allowed.
  17. Scud yes. I always need more to read. (Once I finish RoW again I’ll probably go back to the Dresden Files if I can get my hands on them, but other than that I’m free)
  18. I’m sorry about your grandmother, but congrats to your family. That’s quite the rollercoaster you have to deal with.
  19. I have this now.

  20. By a single vote, the winner is... @BreezeCauthon as Wit! Congrats on your victory lap. And now I have an announcement to make. It’s been wonderful organizing and leading all these tournaments. I love reading your roasts and comments. However, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, I haven’t been keeping up with the schedule. I’ve been too busy to give this the time it deserves. I found myself only getting on the shard to run this. This is nobody’s fault. Nobody drove me to do this. This is just what I have to do to make the shard a fun place for me again. So, with that said, somebody new will have to step in and take over for me. I will answer any questions you may have, but it shouldn’t be too difficult. I’m not forcing any of you to do this, but three people in particular have been very active the last few tournaments and beyond. So @Hoiditthroughthegrapevine @BreezeCauthon and @Kingsdaughter613, I would like to give you three the option of taking this on first. If one of you wants to take it for sure, or if you want a rotation, or to let anyone lead any tournament, it’s up to you. Before anybody else takes this over, I’d like these three to have the chance to first. Thanks for making this a wonderful competition to run. (Sorry for overshadowing your victory Breeze).
  21. I’m turning into the ideal Midwesterner, I say “ope” every time I mess up in tennis.
  22. Fancy with the keteks! Nicely done Breeze. Link
  23. I’ve stalked it enough that I can normally remember it.
  24. There’s an entire thread for this!
  25. And our finalist is @BreezeCauthon! Congrats! Thanks for playing @Shard of Reading, as always. Officially speaking, we have our winners! The Rosharan team has pulled ahead, winning this tournament 4-2. Congrats to @Random Bystander as Nightblood, @yeshevishman as Adolin, @BreezeCauthon as Wit, and @Matrim's Dice as Nikki! However, @Random Bystander and @BreezeCauthon have battled hard to get here, so I will still give them their final round. Good luck against each other! You have until Monday at 5 PM CST.
