  1. Star's basically have negative heat capacity. So they heat up when they loose energy and cool down when the gain energy.
  2. Reading these posts, I think "the sun" could be linked to the warmth/power Dalinar feels on occasion. The epigraph could be the entity that Odium and other(s) killed ("we killed you"). The remnant of this entity would then be what is telling Dalinar to "unite them". After linking the three realms and Odiums proclamation, Dalinar feels this warmth, this other Sun even more. I hope this isn't off topic but you need to be careful when saying hotter in terms of stars. The surface temperatue is what dictates the colour of the star's light, and it is this that emits more red light when the surface is cooler (around 4000°C). But the internal temperature is still around 15million °C. The surface of stars do get cooler (red-er) and hotter (blue-er) and fluctuates at different stages of the star's life. Some stars fluctuate periodically over a few days or weeks. The point I want to make is the surface cools down and stays red when it evolves into a red giant, and this happens because the centre of the star has contracted and warmed up! So the star is actually hotter internally !
  3. Ah great. That quote answers my questions. Thanks! So definitly Preservation and Ruin in the mist. This means that the mists could contain an additional amount of Ruin to balance Harmony. To the first reply, I actually used to think Harmony used the slight extra Ruin to allow him a bit more freedom to act, as long as it was, well Ruininess. To enact change. But this worries me because it mean that Harmony very slowly will destroy the world even of it takes a long time or he doesnt realize he's doing it. A slow entropic death. So I like the idea that the mists, or something is being used to channel his excess ruin to prevent himself from slowly prodding the world to ruin.
  4. Hi I don't know if this has been discussed before, but do you think that the mist are now the excess ruinous intent in era 2? A WoB implies Harmony is doing something with his "spare" Ruin so to speak (new to using the forums so im not sure how to link this WoB). So could the mists now be this excess ruinous investure rather than preservation? The reason I thought this is at end of Alloy of law, Wax burns some of the mists, while wearing the spiked earing. However, in era 1, a spike stops Vin using the mists, which were of preservation. So my question is, was Wax able to use some of this mists as a consequence they are now more of Ruin, which is in line with Wax "being of Ruin", or did he have access just as a consequence of Harmony's attention (implying the mists are still of preservation or just Harmonys combined intents in general). P.s I know there are theories that the spare ruin is related to a potential daughter-product of an ettmetal reaction, but what if this excess is the mists, or that a mix of both ?
  5. Oh great! Ive only read SA once and just srarted my re-read (Kalak scene) and I tend to mess up the order of when things happen. In my head I thought that scene happened before! Thats quite interesting in itself. The blade did not disapear this time, even though Kalak mentions it should. So the fact the blade remained rather than disappearing is significant... Could the blade now be more powerful now it is no longer keyed to a true master?
  6. Thanks:). After posting I had a think about it and yes, if the spirit web is changed it makes sense for the Listeners to change. The spirit web is the person, filtered through the cognitive into the physical, so it makes sense that if the spirit is changed, this would cascade down into the physical, in a genetic way. Crackpot theory here but... This makes me think. Could this mean that Listeners spirit web consist of a large amount of investure, and so are all Savants? Spiritual alterations can be passed down genetically so shouldn't savant-like traits also be genetic? So, how I view the Unmade as symbiotic, they take something from a being while giving something back to said being. I believe Calderis theory, and how BAM works is to give access to the forms of power, but as a result takes/feeds off the spiritweb itself, so that when BAM was captured, it took the invensture with it. And if the Listeners are savant-like, could this be why they became SlaveForm, the investure taken was a large part of their souls. Dullform could have protected them because a spren is typically needed to "access" inventure. So if I add to calderis original theory, the purpose of a spren for Listeners is to access investure encoded their spirit web, and dullform is a result of a spren that cannot allow Listeners to do this properly. This could explain why dullform survived? Is one of the purposes of the Everstorm a way to replace to replace this investure? I have used a lot of conjecture here without evidence so I apolagise in advance!
  7. Hi. I don't know if this question has been asked or theorised before but I was wondering that now Jezerien is dead, shouldn't his honorblade vanish too, or because Jezerien is proper dead, will the blade remain? In the prelude to WoK, after seeing 8 swords, Kalak knows 8 had survived because: "If their masters had died, the Blades would have vanished". The term "master" I mean to think the original owner, not the current person wielding the blade. As in, if the current owner died, I wouldn't expect the blade to disapear. So I believed that when Jezerien died, the blade also went, but with Jerzerien proper dying, I'm no longer sure if this is 100% accurate. Side note. I also believe we have not seen the true power of the Honorblades. Kalak also mentions in the prelude to WoK that: "These Blades were weapons of power beyond even Shardblades" But, what we have currently seen from an honorblade is, in my opinion, a little underwhelming. So I also believe we have yet to witnesses the full power of an honorblade. Are there any WoB that answer theae questions?
  8. So I believe Kaladin mentioned in OB that the Singers in Slaveform were bred, and so I presume the children of Slaveform are also in Slaveform. My question is why? If all Singers are born as Birthform/Formless, why are Slaveform offspring not in Birthform/Formless? Or more specifically, how does the lobotomy/retractation of a spirit web also affect the offspring's spirit web. How do they inherit this? Does it mean that the physical Form of the parents influences the Form of the offspring?
