Brandon Mull was my author before Sanderson!! I’ve almost a of his works, except for the newest Dragonwatch, but he’s definitely one of my favorites. Looking back, I don’t enjoy his books quite as much as I used to (like, they’re still great and awesome, just not as magical as they were when I read them back in elementary and middle school), though I’d have to say that my favorite series is for sure Fablehaven, with Beyonders as a close second.

I love Mull’s books, but reading Dragonwatch I feel like I’ve kind of aged out of his writing style. The story is fine, but the writing in the last Dragonwatch book really started to grate on me.

As for Candy Shop War, I love it. And we are getting a third book, which I eagerly anticipate.

Wait, we ARE getting a third? AHHHH

I gotta agree, the writing is grating on me too. It’s started to feel, idk, like choppy/disjointed if that makes sense? The prose doesn’t flow well.

And l definitely agree that Dragonwatch wasn’t needed. I’ll still read and enjoy it, but it’s not hitting the Fablehaven spot imo. (Also agree that Five Kingdoms isn’t as good - still decent though)
