  1. I think the dagger Moash uses does not 'kill' the herald so much as it somehow traps their soul (identity?) inside the gem on the hilt. From the book: Was it done this way to keep the current state of the Oathpact intact? The other Heralds POV we get mentions they sense the other's loss Does this means that they could somehow be freed from the gem later, rescuing/restoring them? Naturally, if any of this is true, I think it's possible we may see up to an additional 9 versions of such daggers with the appropriate gemstone on the hilt. Thoughts?
  2. I'd like one that involves Mraize/The Ghostbloods and gives more insight into their mission.
  3. Yes, but you'll have the attention span of a goldfish. I want a wallet that always has the correct amount of cash in it when I open it to buy something.
  4. Howdy! What is your favorite part(s) of the Costmere? How much of it have you read thus far?
  5. Not a spoiler of any sort, but -- it's subtle. When there is direct interaction, I really enjoyed it. I liked the way it's done, too. =D
  6. Oh Man.. if you like Lift and Wyndle, you're going to love Edgedancer so much! Are you delaying reading it as a tactic to make sure you read the other stories first?! =D
  7. FWIW, in Arcanum Unbounded, there is a prose-only version of White Sand that follows the graphical one. The graphical one was hard to read in kindle format because it doesn't zoom, so it was nice to have a little more in-depth recap in text-only afterwards.
  8. Also, don't overlook the Coppermind! Fantastic wiki articles on all the major players and good summaries of books if you need a brief refresher on something.
  9. Man, OB is SO good. I read WoK and WoR digitally when they were released and listened to them back to back prior to Oathbringer's release. Was a good refresher and brought some of the smaller plots and happenings back into my mind. I just took advantage of a big Audible discount and used my first credit to get Oathbringer in audio format. Going to listen to it over the holiday to further cement it in my brain. =)
  10. How much of the Cosmere have you read about so far? What is your favorite setting and/or magic system?
  11. I listened to Warbreaker and while OK for about 95% of the book, the narrator made Lightsong come off as a philosophically conflicted surfer-dude vocally. I REALLY liked his character arc and the reveals about his first life towards the end. I liked him a lot despite the imprint/impression the voicework gave me of him. =p Hoid has only gotten better. I liked the level of his inclusion in OB, as well.
  12. I didn't realize until yesterday afternoon that I hadn't actually finished AU - I was only about halfway! I read the Silence chapter and really, really dug it. Wouldn't mind going back there. Storywise, I like SA/Roshar the most for its (continuing) depth in scale and character arcs. It's most close to WoT, which was my first (long-form) High Fantasy series (LotR's length feels quaint by comparison!). OB felt like a little bit of a firehose with the additional settings/cultures mixing in and the increased insight into the Listener/"Voidbringer" PoVs and expanding Surgebinder abilities. Magically, I really like the Metallic Arts - especially in the Wax & Wayne era. Less all-powerful Mistborns and more uniqueness in the Twinborns. I liked the slightly shorter and quicker pacing as well. I have a feeling Hemalurgy will come to the fore in later books with more crossover between some of the systems, in potentially dire/sadness-inducing ways. =/
  13. Welcome. You should try to find some time for the Wax and Wayne Mistborn series. I really enjoyed it!
  14. Hello! I've been lurking around the site and the Coppermind for a while now, reading interesting topics of interest while I was (re-)listening to WoK, WoR in the lead-up to Oathbringer. I finished OB last week. I got it digitally on launch day, but wasn't able to dive in right away, sadly. In the last few months before OB, I listened to all of the Mistborn books and Warbreaker. I read Elantris and Arcanum Unbounded as well. I haven't read White Sand yet.
