The scene we get of Cultivation interacting with Dalinar in OB gives no hints that she sent Evi to him or foreshadowing it even via allusion. Not very "Brandon", if the avatar idea is correct. :-) I like the thought, but think RShara is right here.

Well, of course she didn’t say anything.

Cultivation has Shardic Sight above most shards. It is not a stretch to say that if this theory is correct, She would know what she is supposed to say, to get him to where she wants.

  4. Ok, here we go.

I was thinking last night about the end of Oathbringer and couldn’t get over the fact that Dalinar is able to talk to Evi at the end.

Now, the three possible answers are as follows.

    1. The first idea was that the realms were so close at the end of Oathbringer that Dalinar was communicating directly with the Spiritual Realm. However, this causes greater implications for the Cosmere as a whole, since at this point Evi would have passed “beyond”, which is said to be a  different place than the Spiritual Realm. Yet, here you have Dalinar being able to talk directly to someone in the Beyond?

    2. The second idea is that Cultivation knew that Dalinar needed to hear Evi forgive him, so kept her around.

    Kind of like (MISTBORN SPOILER)

    Preservation And Kelsier

    3. The final idea is that Evi is actually an Avatar of Cultivation. It is further possible that Cultivation saw with her future sight how Dalinar’s life would unfold, so she created a body (we know shards can do this, look at odium) and came down to help prune him to were he needed to be. I feel as if it is not that big of a jump for Cultivation to see so far into the future that she starts setting pieces in motion that fast. This explains why Sanderson won’t reveal the name of Cultivation, we all know it, and he wants that reveal for later. (You could go a little deeper, and say that the reason Evi feels so much for Dalinar is that he is so much like Tanavast, her old lover)

Cultivation created an Avatar of herself (called Evi) to come down to Roshar to help prune Dalinar to were he needed to be.

I am sure this will get shredded to bits, but there really needs to be some explanation of Evi talking to Dalinar at the end.

  5. Moash is going to eventually become a Skybreaker, I think.

Think about it, in WOR Syl tells kaladin that he shouldn’t kill Amaram because he is not a Skybreaker. Obviously he doesn’t, however Moash took the direct opposite approach here and killed Elhokar. Meaning that Moash believes in the same peverted Justice that Syl compares to the Skybreakers.

In addition, Moash agrees with Nale that the Singers are the rightful owners of Roshar. And, like Nale, Moash has sided with the Singers and with Odium in this conflict.

In terms of the story, this makes sense, as Moash has always served as a “Dark Kaladin.” This while further add to this balance as Kaladin represents doing the right thing, while Moash represents vengeance.

Eventually I think that Moash will take up the Shards of Honor and Odium, and take on the mantle of “Vengeance.” The attribute that has governed his life.

TD;LR: Moash becomes a Skybreaker and eventually the Shard of Vengeance.

    1. a suckling child - you need to be able to speak to get a death rattle
    2. a knife at the throat - that is the very place you must not cut if you want a death rattle
    3. "all who live wish me to let the blade slip" - that does not fit. The Diagramm are hiding what they do fearing an outrage or, bluntly, a lynching

    1. Only if you are working under the assumption that it’s the person who died talking; and not an unmade.

    Mason Wheeler(paraphrased)

So, according to King Taravangian, the... erm... I don't actually know the name for it, the uh, death-babbling phenomenon...

    Brandon Sanderson(paraphrased)

    Death rattles.

    Mason Wheeler(paraphrased)

OK, death rattles have been going on since about the time the Parshendi were first discovered. Soon after this, King Gavilar was killed, and he said something that sounds kind of nonsensical. Was that him talking, or someone else?

    Brandon Sanderson(paraphrased)

    No, that was Gavilar.

A Memory of Light Seattle Signing (Feb. 12, 2013)

    1.  Look at Sanderson’s answer, it wasn’t SOMEONE ELSE talking, because it wasn’t a Death Rattle. (Ps. I can’t find a WOB were Sanderson answers a question about if the death rattles are actually the person talking. I think his answer was RAFO but maybe an Arcanist will be of help @RShara @Calderis)

    2.  This might not be completely literal, it could be nothing more than a poetic way to talk about murder.

    3. I honestly think that on such a harsh world as Roshar, most people would be okay with the Machiavellian collection of the death rattles.

A death rattle. This sounds poetic, even biblical, Abraham and Isaac kind of stuff. And it pushes us to some kind of mystical interpretation.
But could this be the literal truth? If Odium cannot have Dalinar, how about forcing Dalinar into fighting for and protecting his champion?

Could Odium's new champion be Adolin's and Shallan's first child? Assuming Navani is beyond child-bearing years. It looks like a plan that uses Odium's professed goal, passion, and combines it with the enemy's weakness, honor,  and combines them into one weapon. We might see Jasnah and Zahel vs. Shallan, Adolin and Dalinar going at each other in full shard plate. And Adolin has to go for the noble third option. He takes his child, walks into the light and keeps walking through Shadesmar.

This death rattle is referring to the members of the Diagram killing people off to receive more death rattles.

I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it gain us further breath to draw.

  8. I like seeing the various Magic decks that people have come up with, so I thought I would make a place for people to post their various decks. I’ll post mine below. (Hidden for size)

    4 Izzet Guildmage

    4 Delver of Secrets

    2 Ludvic’s Test Subject

    4 Training Grounds

    4 Anticipate

    4 Lightning Bolt

    4 Manamorphose

    4 Shock

    4 Mana Leak

    4 Swerve

    2 Jace, The Mind Sculptor

    8 Island

    2 Glacial Fortress

    6 Mountain

    2 Inspiring Vantage

    2 Sacred Foundry

    4 Wear // Tear

    3 Detention Sphere

    3 Day of Judgement

    3 Tormod’s Crypt

    2 Pithing Needle

The deck above is a combo deck revolving around the interaction between Izzet Guildmage, Training Grounds, and Manamorphose. It can also serve as a Aggro deck that beats down with Delver of Secrets, and Burns your opponent out with  Lightning Bolt and Shock (Which makes it a Hundred times more Consistent).

Mana Leak and Swerve included to protect the combo/slow down your opponent. JTMS helps set up the combo by brainstorming, and can also serve as an alternate win condition. Also, the interaction between Ludevic’s Test Subject, and Training Grounds is pretty epic.

Anyway, enough rambling. What decks are you playing in Modern MTG?

It sounds reasonable - but how would MTG know the next oath?

I was not saying that MTG knows the next Oath. What I was saying is that the idea behind it, (admitting to not being able to protect everyone) sounds like it “could” be an Oath.

I almost don’t want it to be one because that means someone close to Kaladin is going to die like Adolin almost did.

If someone does die, I hope it is Moash.

However, it will most likely be a core member of Bridge Four. Probably Rock or Teft.

Each order (excluding lightweavers) has four order-specific oaths. Each order also has two divine attributes. For the windrunners, these are protecting and leading.

The first two seem to focus on protecting

This leads me to believe that the second two oaths will focus on leadership.

    (Oathbringer spoilers)

      Reveal hidden contents

Kaladin fails to swear the fourth oath while being attacked by fused in shadesmar. When he thinks of Tien, he stutters and collapses.

I don't know if it has to do with his reluctance to lead, but it is still notable.

The reason I disagree with this line of thought that a that it doesn’t fit thematically. His arc right now is about how he has never grown calluses to death, and he doesn’t know who to protect. Having an Oath about leadership right now, is like having an Oath about being more Pious, while Dalinar was struggling with taking responsibility.

First and foremost, Stormlight is a story. And as such the Oaths that fit best thematically, are the ones that will most likely take place.

I wish for pop songs to stop being so annoying.

Granted, pop songs are now the most enjoyable, entertaining, amazing songs ever. However, listening to these songs makes you never die. Now, you be thinking “that’s not to bad” but you still age, your skin shreds, and your bones crumble, but you still live.

I wish for the ability to see the future.

The Nightwatcher has no clue what that is. So she grants it, but now you are allergic to water. (To the touch, you can still drink it)

I wish Fall Out Boy would go back to the Punk Rock genre instead of Pop.

Granted, however you constantly hear pop music ringing in your ears for the rest of your life, also the song keeps changing, so it never becomes white-noise.

I wish to be able to binge watch shows that haven’t come out yet.
