  1. You are definitely not alone here. It started... very slow for me and I had to be really patient, until the action took off and grabbed my attention. It wasn't my first Sanderson book though. So, that was probably one of the reasons I stuck by it, because I had faith that Brandon would make it all worth it. He managed it! Halfway through the book I couldn't put it away, until I was done.
  2. Thanks, guys. Always allomantic active and Tattersail is life!
  3. I think we should consider the fact that Jackson hasn't really fought to kill humans, whereas Kaladin is a seasoned soldier at every stage. Killing another person ain't easy and I have the feeling Percy would have a bigger issue with stepping over that threshold unlike Kal.
  4. It ain't just prose complexity that can create barriers for young and/or inexperienced readers. I am a non-native speaker and my main roadblock was the sheer amount of things that were happening in Way of Kings, little details that would become more important later and that you might not immediately catch or consider important. Of course, then you start reading something like Malazan and Stormlight doesn't seem nearly as busy in comparison. So, it's not just age, but also simple reading experience.
  5. Harmony. For one, you got the power of two shards behind you, instead of one. As far as we know that is unique in the Cosmere right now, seeing as Odium refuses to merge with more Shards. I'd say that as Harmony you also have more autonomy of thought, but its Vessel is relatively young so that might still change.
  6. I have this feeling that the idea for Hoid is to become familiar with the majority of the major investiture systems in the Cosmere. Like when he swiped a bead of Lerasium in Mistborn, becoming something of a in-world bridge between the various settings and their rules
  7. Okay, this is sick. Nicely done!
  8. Finished the book an hour ago... man, the last hundred pages was a rollercoaster of emotions. I refused to put it down, just had to finish it in one go. Amazing. I swear though, just when you think they take one step forward towards improving the situation Sanderson grins and makes them stumble four back at the end!
  9. Hey! Been using Coppermind for awhile now, knew the board existed and finally decided to bite the bullet and actually try to contribute to 17th myself. Glad to be here and hopefully I will be able to nerd-gush over the books with the lot of you. Any questions, throw 'em out here! ~ Tattersail
