  1. What classes would the various characters of Sanderson's books (I say Sanderson instead of Cosmere to include Alcatraz and such)if they were in a Fire Emblem game? Considering Sanderson's style, I imagine most of these will not be the best fit, but it's still fun to do. You can be as vague or as detailed as you liked. I'll start with Mistborn Characters: Vin Starting Class: Thief Promotes to: Assassin Though not the best fit since Mistborn are magic users, it's probably the most obvious class for one. Giving Vin Lethality and/or Vantage might be akin to her using Atium. Kelsier Starting Class: Assassin Same reasons as Vin, though being older and more experience than Vin, he's already promoted. Elend Starting Class: Lord Promotes to: Great Lord Either this or Tactician, but he doesn't quite have a head for battle tactics until much later. Maybe if he used a Second Seal... Spook Starting Class: Thief Promotes to: Rogue Beginning as a thief if obvious, but I'm not sure Assassin is a good fit for him and neither is a Trickster. Rogue it is. Hammond Starting Class: Barbarian Promotes to: Bezerker Eh, I suppose any large powerful class (Knight, Soldier, Laguz/Taguel) will do. I picked Barbarian/Bezerker since they tend to be fast. Dockson Starting Class: Tactician More lilke the non-action Tactician from the first Fire Emblem released outside of Japan (FE7, Blazing Sword, Rekka no Ken, whatever) than the Jack-of-all Trades Tactician from Awakening. Breeze Starting Class: Bard/Dancer As absurd an image as that makes, it's really the best fit for him. He uses his soothing to put people in a better mood, much like a Bard/Dancer revitalizes units and allows them to move again. I imagine no one would want to hear him sing/see in dance, though. XP
  2. Nice job, guys! I really like how you play off each other. I've read the book and listened to the Graphic Audio production, but I'm having a blast re-experiencing it through the podcast.
  3. Some time ago I pointed out the parallels between Gnosticism and the Cosmere. Adonalsium could perhaps be likened to the Monad/Bythos/Absolute/The One while the shards were like the Aeons. Gnostics also believed that everyone had three aspects: Body, Soul, and Spirit, though some other Gnostics believed only certain people had Spirit, which was the divine spark from the Pleroma.
  4. Thanks for the feedback! The Kyurem is caught is is now called "Harmony."
  5. I wasn't sure if this was the right forum for this discussion/elaborate question, but I thought it would be the best fit. Anyway, I'm playing through Pokémon White 2 and have yet to capture Reshiram or Kyurem. In my White Version, I named my Zekrom Ati and will name my Reshiram in White 2 Leras. My reasoning is that Reshiram and Zekrom are partially based on the concept of Yin and Yang. Also according to the games, the two Dragons were once one along with Kyurem, which seems to represent Wuji, the absence of Yin and Yang. This would make the Original Dragon perhaps representative of Taiji, the highest principle from which Yin and Yang flow. Just as Reshiram and Zekrom were part of a whole, Ruin and Preservation were as well. It helps greatly that Ruin is often represented by the color black, the same color as Zekrom and Preservation by white, like Reshiram. I chose to name them after the original human(oid) holders of the shards because just calling them "Ruin" and "Preservation" seemed rather obvious (and "preservation" is well over the character limit for Pokémon names). This still leaves a name for Kyurem, however. Though Kyurem can combine itself with Reshiram or Zekrom, it is as of yet not possible to merge all three in order to reform the Original Dragon. As such, Kyurem doesn't really have a shard or character that represents it in the Cosmere. It isn't even known yet if the Original Dragon will be an entirely new Pokémon for just an "Ultimate" forme of Kyurem. There are a number of possible, but not entirely fitting names I have come up with, and I'd like to know your thoughts on which one would be best for Kyurem: Sazed - Just as I named the Tao Dragons after the original holders of the Preservation and Ruin Shards, it would make some sense to name Kyurem after Sazed. It's odd to imagine the humble Terrisman as a massive Ice Dragon, but likely Ati and Leras were none too impressive before they became Shards. However, Sazed currently holds both Ruin and Preservation while Kyurem can only be Black or White. Perhaps this name would be more fitting on the Original Dragon? Harmony - It is largely similar to Sazed, though it would break the naming convention a little. Maybe Kyurem would get a pass being close to the original, just as Sazed as Harmony is a step closer to Adonalsium? Rashek - Rashek saw himself as being both of Ruin and of Preservation, but in truth, he only held the power of the latter. This could be likened to Kyurem combine with Reshiram to form White Kyurem. However, Rashek was not some remnant left behind by the Shards breaking off. It would also crash in a possible future game where the Original Dragon is obtainable Adonalsium - This name fits somewhat as the original form of Ruin and Preservation does not just include them, but all Shards. There are many problems with this name though: It seems that only three Pokémon make up the Original Dragon, far fewer than there are Shards. In some ways the Original Dragon is treated as a deity, but Adonalsium might be a more appropriate name for Arceus, especially since it holds 16 Type Plates. Too bad Arceus is usually a distributed Pokémon and thus un-nick namable. Hoid - This one is perhaps the weakest name for Kyurem. Hoid's goals are unclear and while some have speculated that he wishes to reform Adonalsium, it is (as far as I know), only speculation. He holds some base, but again, what this is exactly and if it directly related to Adonalsium is uncertain. It could relate to Kyurem wanting to "fill its body with Truth and Ideals," but again, it's largely speculation Rutabaga - Self-explanatory. Of course, if you have other suggestions, you may post them.
  6. I'm with what others have said. I go with character assumptions until proven wrong. I did think that the epitaphs in Hero of Ages were written by several characters, or at least the earlier ones were with later ones being all or mostly Sazed.
  7. It was sometime after I finished Hero of Ages. I looked up Sanderson's fansite and stumbled upon The Time-Waster's Guide forums, where there was a long thread for the book. I mostly wanted to read other people's opinions on the book and the series in general, but it was there that I discovered that Mistborn was linked to Elantris, Warbreaker (which I hadn't read at the time), and future books. I thought it was so awesome that he had created this metauniverse (though at the time, I didn't know if all the novels and series book place in one universe or it it was a multiverse situation) and most of his books would take place in it and link together, even if only slightly. My respect for him grew ten-fold from there.
  8. More progress in Xenoblade, though I have been doing a lot of sidequests. I'm taking care of the ones that have are "timed" (I think those clock icons just means they disappear after a point of no return? I'm not certain). I also played through the DS game Atelier Annie twice. It's the first time I played an Atelier game, and I greatly enjoyed it. It's so very charming. I've been flipping between the DS game Solatorobo and the GBA game Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand. I want to concentrate on the latter, and while I know the sun isn't absolutely essential, it does make things easier. Sadly, it's been rather rainy these past few days...
  9. I'm not certain if this topic would go here or in the Alcatraz sub-forum. I will understand if it has to be moved. Basically, what characters from other titles, be they books, TV, movies, video games, whatever, have abilities or quirks that behave like Smedry Talents? Perhaps these character even have traits that are similar or identical to character Talents we're familiar with. I've noticed a few, and maybe a few of your have as well. Colette Brunel from the game Tales of Symphonia is the best example I can think of. She has unusually lucky clumsiness: she will trip and fall over when startled or even for no apparent reason. Sometimes this causes property damage, but most of the time it has some good benefit: She may discover a needed clue or item, trip into a hidden passageway or fake wall, or even trip unintentionally to dodge or knock someone else out of the path of an enemy attack. Heck, one time she did damage a wall, she created a Colette-shaped hole and it became something of a holy site/tourist attraction in the town (she is a Chosen, a religious figure in that world). Other character have noticed her lucky trips, but it embarrasses Colette, and points out that she doesn't do it on purpose. Obviously, her "talent" is identical to that of Sing's. Two characters with similar "talents" to each other are Beaux from the video game Atelier Annie and Ryoga Hibiki from the anime Ranma 1/2. Both have horrendous senses of direction and could get lost in a closet. While Beaux running gag is to get lost in the neighborhood, then to nearly starve to death when he does find someplace or someone familiar, he did apparently appear on the island the game takes place on all of a sudden. He does even remember crossing the ocean from the mainland. It's a bit of a stretch, but it sounds like Kaz's Talent. As for Ryoga, despite his penchant for not going where he wants to go, he always seems to stumble onto an important event or at least whatever is going on in that particular episode. Not so much lucky transportation than lucky significant event-finding.
  10. That's what I figured Alendi saw, too. He saw the Mist Spirit, and either assumed he was seeing many, or in his paranoia, thought he saw more than one.
  11. Title of the track is "In the Final." It's something of an odd song for the game, but I thought it really enhanced the last boss fight.
  12. Made a good deal of progress in Xenoblade, finally making it to Makna Forest. Man, that Reckless Godwin unique monster was a handful. It took a number of tries and three levels before I managed to beat it. Also took some time to complete various quests. I need to go back and do earlier ones, though. Things are getting ever more interesting story-wise as well. Even though I should be playing a new handheld game, I've found myself continuing my replay of The Worlds Ends With You. I'm up to the second day of the second week Maybe it's because of the upcoming release of Kingdom Hearts (which I've decided not to get, at least not for a long while), but I've been on something of a TWEWY kick lately. It's mine, too. I wouldn't say its underrated since fans and critics alike praise this game, but it's certainly underplayed. I do hope there will be a sequel at some point.
  13. Color me intrigued for sure. It may not reveal much, but it certainly whets my appetite for this book. I can't wait!
  14. Aside from beating Oracles of Seasons, I continued a replay of The World Ends With You. I'm on the 7th day of the first week, though I'm grinding for Yen pins. I also played Majora's Mask today and just passed the Snowhead Temple. I will slow down playing this, but will continue until I am finished. I have a bit of a backlog building, so I can't get too crazy. I also started the copy of Revelations: The Demon Slayer that I bought some months back, but boy did I have to jump through some hoops to play it. The save battery in the cart had apparently died, and I figured getting another could prove to be pointless. So I endeavored to replace the battery myself. Despite shelling out some $25 for a mini soldering iron and solder, my sister's boyfriends managed to replace the battery by using a piece of electrical tape to fit it in snugly. While I didn't take the soldering stuff out of the package and was going to return it to RadioShack, my mother "bought" it off me, as she thinks it could be useful. It saves now, though for some reasons, only Slot 3 works. The other two slots lose the save. The game seems to be a rather simple early RPG. Though it came out in North America in 1999, it was first released on the original Game Boy in 1992 in Japan, then a color version was released in 1999. It shouldn't really be surprising that the story isn't something stellar. Monsters are ravaging the land and there are people like my character who can use a power called "Gaia" so I should use it to stop them. I recruited a lot of monsters/demons and will soon be able to start fusing them. Like other early MegaTen games, Demon Slayer's creatures do not gain levels, and I have to keep reminding myself this so I can stop rushing back to town when one dies. The music is surprisingly decent, too, for a GBC game.
  15. Not only started but finished The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I took out a massive single-book collection titled The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide, so I've already moved onto The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. I can see why this series is so popular. It's very witty and wonderfully absurd. I rarely laugh out loud while reading (I just chuckle from time to time), but I did with this one.
