  1. I don't know how to pass along this message, but I agree with the comment Brandon himself made about Elantris and Warbreaker: great depiction of characters is what differentiates great writers from good--loose wording, same meaning. Brandon: please stop focusing on 127 different magic systems and pay your full attention to your characters, their motivations, consistency of their intent (yes, that's the word you often use), and their believable evolution. This part really needs work. I know Brandon _can_ do it if he gets his priorities right. Can the beta readers help? It really is very important not to be taking the wrong direction at this time.
  2. Yeah, something along these lines, but definitely a point that I had not appreciated in the past two-three Mistborn re-reads. Vessels going mad like Fused or, dare I say it, Kelsier. Something to think about.
  3. Having read Mistborn a long time ago, now that you mention it, I have a question: why did Ruin want to destroy the world that he could rule, what would have happened to the Shard+Vessel if the planet they resided on was destroyed? What would they gain by this, what is the plan beyond just destroying? Many similar questions follow: when the Shard was taken, why did he not destroy something already, what was even the point of settling on a planet with Preservation and creating humans? It all seems very convoluted and pointless.
  4. This whole political landscape and options explored here are absolutely fascinating. I am interested in how pretty deep and revealing Realmatic revelations in recent books will play out against the backdrop of all those political machinations. I am confident that Brandon will be able to pull it off, however, I would also set the level of difficulty here at 9-10 out of 10 to be able to weave it all together harmoniously--pun intended.
  5. DELETED as not contributing constructively
  6. I still go back to that sphere-lit dinner on the Shattered plains. From memory, one of the first things he says is "Adonalsium" as a one-word sentence. I think it is at least likely that his focus is on the big union of some kind and I think he is in it for the result, considering it as good for the Cosmere, not necessarily like: "I want to become one".
  7. Yes, agreed, Dalinar is likely going beyond what used to be possible, encroaching into what would be the Honor level abilities, or even beyond.
  8. Interesting answers, thanks. I am fascinated by that power Dalinar is using. Why would Stormfather say that was "not right"?
  9. Had SA1 re-read over a dozen times but only re-reading SA3 for the first time and stumbling on stuff I did not notice before. Dalinar is escaping from visiting Jah Keved, specifically from the Thrill almost attacking him there. Q1. If the Thrill is so strong in that city, why is no one else affected: armed soldiers, Taravangian, Navani and so on? Is the Thrill selective? Why were the armies fighting before with strong Thrill influence but now everyone is perfectly quiet? Q2. It felt like the Thrill followed Dalinar through the gateway, did it? If yes, how? Q3. Dalinar pulls a shardblade from somewhere to operate the gateway? The Stormfather was unhappy, but was it really Stormfather manifested as the blade? What was that blade if not?
  10. OK, consider the following obvious scenario: type "Brandon Sanderson" into DuckDuckGo (which I use) or Google search--also checked just now. On DuckDuckGo, the only meaningful link apart from Wikipedia is the Home page. This forum is not linked anywhere at all on either DuckDuckGo or Google search (so only hard core fans know about it). The Youtube channel is _not linked_ from the DuckDuckGo search--only from the ads-driven Google search. So where exactly would potentially a million or more readers be able to "ask about the updates, and the answers will be given"? You are really overestimating the whole social malarkey--a lot of people never use it and, as I said above, there are no links and even if there are, the very first link on Google search is still the Web page--being the main source of reliable information about the author. EDIT: Plus, Youtube is _not linked_ from Sanderson's web page either and there is no mention of "go there and get the updates"!
  11. As long as (a) the percentage updates one way or another are on Youtube _and_ (b) are copied here by some kind soul, _I am_ happy--however, there may be other readers who may not be aware of this arrangement and have nothing but the website to track.
  12. OK, sure, but what about more low-tech people, who maybe access the site on mobile, maybe in a sick bed and want to see how are the next books going in a very clear way: book-percentage and that's it? Is it really that hard to update by a busy team?
  13. Hi, Sorry if this sounds a bit testy but I think what I will say is fair. Not updating the main Brandon page is getting a bit out of hand now. We are _your fiction_ fans Brandon, we are not Elder Ring fans, or Youtube fans, or Facebook fans, or random questions fans. You also have considerable staff, and surely, updating the main page in some reasonable way could be of higher importance than any of the above? Thanks!
  14. I think the Dawnsgard(s) have a big role on Roshar. It is worth exploring this if someone has any further ideas.
