  1. Moriarty (Sherlock Holmes) Moash (only villain I felt any real tension in SA) @Captains Domon best Disney villain: wickedly smooth Maleficent. Thanks for the laugh lol
  2. The Maya arc is not very interesting to me. I feel like Andolins demise would be the best catalyst (unto greater heights) for our main three characters. So far (at least to me) the series hasn’t cost us anything. It’s been a safe read. If that makes sense. The wedding feels like a big setup for Andolins demise in whatever form that takes.
  3. OB is where I found Andolin’s character and his responses to be unbelievable. Everything rolls off him so easily. Where was the heat and anger we saw in the other two books? His thoughts about fashion were off putting given he is hiding he committed murder, shows little concern for how this affects his father and his easy acceptance of seeing Shallan making eyes at Kaladin. I really liked Andolin up until this book. Where is that guy?
  4. @Blazenella oh dear me. Can’t unsee that now. I guess one way to look at it- most of the time we are our own worst enemy.
  5. Jasnah accepting the role of queen. I really just want more of her as Shallan became increasingly frustrating to read.
  6. It’s almost March and I still don’t know when I will decide to reread the book. I think about it and then can’t bring myself to read through all the: viewpoints of characters better left in the background boring politics/redundant for way too much of the book main characters don’t even have scenes or conversations together the love triangle...what love triangle?...what love Brilliant Jasnah and fascinating Moash will be the reasons why I ever choose to reread. So your views @IronBars I strongly share.
  7. My biggest fear is that BS has written himself into a corner (at least for me ) with this “love triangle”. If Shallan and Andolin were to divorce I will find it unstatifying and anticlimactic. I didn’t want the pairing but the thought of reading : you go your way, I’ll go mine...boring. It seems highly unlikely with her dependence, year skip and then just Brandon himself. I tend to think the marriage will either continue with a realization of a truer love for each other or Andolin dies. I like Andolin but I will sacrifice anyone for Kaladins happiness. If it’s fate for Shallan and Kaladin let it be epic and costly. Sorry I haven’t read the last two pages of the thread. I saw all the divorce conversation and wanted to voice my thoughts. Now back to the thread as it stands.
  8. Bridge 4 carrying the bridge one last time towards life. ( I mentioned this in the other thread). Jasnah’s fighting was epic and breathtaking. My love for her is now solidified with OB
  9. I love the Shattered Plains. Urithiru isn’t very interesting to me, I hope we get back out there to the plateaus and chasms.
  10. @Seize yes why didn’t we see their wedding scene? I don’t know if you saw but in this thread there were people even questioning if the wedding even took place. This subplot (ok it’s like a main plot to me, I’ll admit) is so super confusing and so many scenes we didn’t get. Yet every viewpoint from Bridge 4? Honestly, it drove me nuts how little our main characters interacted and very little dialogue. It was either totally intentional and is suppose to create this conversation or it was a rushed badly edited book. The trepidation upon opening SA4 will be intense.
  11. Shallan doesn’t know who she is, what she wants to be, or her place in the world...but she knows her heart and mind in whom she ought to marry? Yeah confidence inspiring. I believe it’s been said on this thread-Shallan is very self-centered and a survivalist . This marriage isn’t about her love for Andolin it’s about him giving her a sense of reality. He for now is her anchor. Will she still love him when she is healed?
  12. Andolins outnumbered duel. Kaladin armorless. This alone makes me shake my head in pity for those who have not read the books.
  13. I found Moash fascinating and one of the few surprises in OB. He is exactly what I want in my villains. When he is on the page no one feels safe which that is the point (to me) of a good villain. I will find his pages easier to reread than several of our “smaller” characters. Odium and Amaram didn’t have the edge I wanted them too. So I’m looking forward to more of Moash.
  14. @maxal I see what you are saying. I would agree more if we didn’t get several viewpoint chapters from Andolin himself. I have not really followed the WoB so I never thought of Andolin as a secondary character. As for his feelings towards Shallan well we have Shallan thinking “he thinks I’m pretty” and “ he gets me” ( which I doubt) but really nothing more. Right? Book 4 seems like it’s going to be a pivotal book for the series. Make or Break-at least for me.
  15. @maxal we are talking about a line here or there about Andolin’s feeling for Shallan. That’s all it would have taken for the omission not to be so glaring. Very little effort on BS part to have done so.
