  1. Hmm okay. Well that makes things more confusing.
  2. Yep. Thanks for saying what I said but longer.
  3. How do we know they are? They might be like Atium alloys, only burnable by the corresponding Misting.
  4. This WoB likely relates to the ability we see Wax use where he sees the investiture in everything as if they are metal. I can’t remember how he does this, maybe the Bands? It’s probably through this ability that Allomancers can push/pull non-metal objects
  5. Isn’t this just fact though? The whole point of the Shards is that they are a singular intent given immense power. None of them are good. Some are more destructive than others but too much of any one thing is bad. The major theme of the Cosmere is power corrupting, and the hubris of man daring to think they can defeat God and take his power. The power needs to be united or it’s bad for the Cosmere. I’m doing a terrible job at explaining this. But yes you’re right. The Shards are inherently dangerous because of their singular nature. All of them.
  6. I think the whole, needing connection to the shard to burn godmetals, thing has been retconned by the Atium retcon. Seemingly the point of the whole retcon was to make it possible for anyone in the Cosmere to be able to burn godmetals, this explains Hoid being able to burn Lerasium despite having no connection to Preservation, and will assumedly be a plot point that Brandon intends to use. I also think anyone would be able to burn a Shardblade if they could manage to get it in a form that wouldn’t kill them when swallowed. Even though they are alloys of Cultivation and Honour’s godmetals, they are still purely godmetals. The Atium alloys become limited to allomancers because they are alloyed with basic metals, so only allomancers for those metals can access the Atium alloy for their metal (for example: only Augurs and Mistborn can burn Malatium). I think this would apply to all godmetals. But tbh all this talk of godmetals is all so theoretical since we have very little concrete info on them and their properties, especially in wake of the Atium retcon which is still not entirely clear.
  7. This topic was discussed recently on r/Cosmere and I’ve given it a lot of thought. It’s not about reversing internal/external. It’s about changing the target of the Allomancy so that it’s almost as if they are burning the metal. So we know what gold and electrum do, they make you see another’s future/past instead of your own. For steel/iron - the target acts as the anchor for pushing/pulling metal, with the blue lines spreading out from them instead. Bendalloy/cadmium - would create time bubbles around the target instead of you. Aluminium/Duralumin - would drain/boost the target’s metal reserves from a distance. Copper would create a coppercloud around the target and perhaps bronze would show you Allomancy being burned near the target (not sure about this one). Tin/pewter - would allow you to enhance the strength/senses of the target (or perhaps multiple targets if you want to get fun with it?) Zinc/brass - not too sure about this but perhaps it could create a cloud of emotional soothing/rioting around the target? Nicrosil/chromium - this is the one I’m least sure of, but perhaps it wipes/boosts the reserves of anyone touching the target? Not super useful beyond specific circumstances but they can’t all be with something like this. Obviously the main issue with this is Pure Atium’s ability to see an extensive vision of the future, which obviously relates closely to Malatium and Nalatium’s effects, but not all these others. But that’s theorising for you.
  8. I agree with this. Too many people assuming it was just 17 people wielding the dawnshards killed big A and then they took the shards. No way it was as clean and simple as that. We barely even know what Dawnshards are, we can’t make any assumptions here.
  9. How new are you? How many books have you read? If you haven’t read many I’d suggest getting out of the Cosmere discussion area. If you’ve read most of them I’d suggest you spend some time reading the Coppermind to get up to speed on some of the basic aspects of the Cosmere.
  10. A tress of hair is just a lock of hair, of which she has many
  11. People who understand this stuff better than me may be able to explain it better, but here are my thoughts: Based on the note in tLM’s Ars Arcanum, I’d say there is something funny going on with cosmere wide connection/identity with regards to death. Khriss says there could be a magical origin to the phenomenon. I think because of so many people on Scadrial worshipping such a highly invested being, that belief is then transforming the concept of death across the Cosmere.
  12. I don’t think we know enough about Dawnshards or the Shattering to make any assumptions or headcanons about them at this point.
  13. Do we know it’s just Awakening being used? I assumed it would be a combination of awakening and AonDor. Perhaps Seons (sp?) are used to give the computer ai as well
  14. Can someone explain where we are getting this info about Iriali on Scadrial? I must’ve completely missed it Also, there is no explicit proof that Design was not present in TotES. She could’ve been there the whole time but was never mentioned by Hoid
  15. This thread seems to have derailed a bit, but back to the original topic, what are people’s thoughts on potential similarities between the Sorceress’ awakened metal soldiers and Autonomy’s troops?
