  1. I honestly think Syl will ultimately make it to that point; she's already the person Kaladin relies on most, and it's implied that as their bond progresses, she grows more emotionally mature (as seen in the way she regresses when their bond is nearly broken in WoR). I think that by the time Kaladin has completed the fifth ideal, Syl will be fully equipped to handle him, even at his lowest. Also, let's not forget that through all three 1000+ page books, Syl is one of the only people, and the only one who's still alive, that he's shown a true, genuine smile to.
  2. Honestly believe Kaladin's gonna get a romantic partner and then is gonna blow it because he's going to prioritize some Radiant business one too many times. Unfortunately Syladin is unlikely to happen (althoooouuuggghhh we have seen that Syl is probably the most important person in his life right now, and we have seen that they're able to interact on an equal basis in Shadesmar, and at times in the Physical Realm)
  3. lbr the whole thing with Stormfather not wanting Syl to go to Kaladin, and all the "He's mine I chose him" type things definitely sounds like a father who by the end of the book has reached a begrudging acceptance of his daughter's marriage
  4. I think so far it has only been specifically mentioned in connection with Adolin, and I'm personally inclined to believe that it's due to his unique relationship with Maya. Also, as a side note, all Shardblades are deadeyes.
  5. Probably because red indicates corrupted investiture, and as humans on Scadrial are made from both Ruin and Preservation's investiture, it makes sense that their eyes wouldn't turn red unless it was investiture from a different shard that had been mixed in. Someone ask Brandon about it at the next signing!
  6. If they were fighting each other? Kaladin, as a result of his training, skill, and superior maneuverability/agility would probably win. If it was a contest of how many enemies each could take out, Jasnah would win as she can take out enemies faster and in a wider area with her Soulcasting. Of course, this is implying that the two have near-infinite stormlight like they did in the battle at Thaylen City
  7. Anyone else really hoping for a "classic" medieval european fantasy setting for Dragonsteel? I really want to see what Sanderson can do with what's basically considered the "standard" for fantasy fiction.
  8. Ohhhhhhh you're right, it's been so long since I read SH that I totally forgot Leras was a Cognitive Shadow. Time for a reread lol
  9. Exactly, I doubt he would even really have incentive to take it out of its case. What's he gonna do, lick it?
  10. ^^ I agree, while it's odd since we know of aether as a component in a system of investiture, it makes more sense for it to be the chemical rather than the.....mineral? Whatever an aether is. How would a crystal even cause a stain in the first place?
  11. I was at Emerald City Comic-Con last Friday and I found out from the Badali Jewelry booth that they're apparently meeting with Brandon later this year to talk about more jewelry options! I'm really excited for this, and personally I'm hoping for some new ring options - I already have the Jeseh glyph pendant, so I don't want to get another necklace, and my ears aren't pierced so I can't wear earrings... Is there anything you guys are especially hoping to see from the (possible) new pieces?
  12. We know it's hard for uses of investiture to have any effect on heavily invested objects or people - knowing this, I'm wondering if a mistborn burning atium would be able to predict the movements of a completely stormlight-full surgebinder. I don't really have any more to this, just a thought that came up.
  13. So I was browsing Arcanum when I came upon this little WoB: And immediately something stuck out to me (highlighted in blue) - Brandon says that he made it so that Shadesmar has air so that people wouldn't have to worry about bringing plants to get oxygen, or a Windrunner, or - wait. What? The way he says it, it sounds like (were it the case that Shadesmar had no air) a Windrunner would be helpful - if not absolutely crucial - in getting air into Shadesmar. This leads me to believe that, as they progress in the Oaths, Windrunners gain access to some sort of air/wind manipulation abilities; this seems to be supported by Kaladin's pressure bubble in Oathbringer. I'm curious to see how this could be applied by Kaladin, and other Windrunners, but I'm more curious to see if other orders have similar abilities not exactly related to their surges. Personally, assuming some (if not all) other orders have abilities we haven't seen yet, I like to think that the Skybreakers could summon lightning. It fits with their name (breaking....skies....), and would definitely be storming cool (yes, I will admit, I just want to see Szeth shoot lightning while dual-wielding Nightblood and his sprenblade). What do you think about this? Am I reading too much into this WoB? Do you think the orders could have abilities other than those strictly defined by their surges?
  14. The WoB is quoted as: So from this it seems pretty clear that he won't be THE main character, but one of multiple, as is common in the Cosmere This also could've changed - this was from the WoR signing in San Francisco, presumably 2014. The WoB directly before this one (as taken from the original 17S post) says that the order of the front five SA books would be Kaladin, Shallan, Szeth, Eshonai, Dalinar - and as we know from OB, that's changed. Personally, I'm hoping he plays a larger role than he currently does in SA, if not just because I absolutely love him as Wit and I want MORE
  15. Both these things happened before Honor was splintered
  16. Honor's power seems to still be accessible - Dalinar takes at least a portion of it at the end of Oathbringer, when he creates the perpendicularity. Maybe it's something to do with his bond to the Stormfather, Honor's Cognitive Shadow. Maybe Stormfather holds much (if not all) of Honor's Investiture, but can't access it for some reason? Maybe because, as a spren, he's mostly in the Cognitive Realm, whereas a shard would be in the Spiritual Realm? Interesting to think about but no clue if any of it is true lol I just like rambling
  17. At the end of WoR, IIRC, Kaladin was granted noble status and even some lands to rule over. Previously, after becoming a shardbearer, Moash was told he could choose a noble house to join, or found his own. My question is, do we know if Kaladin joined an existing house, or founded his own? (Also, if anyone knows, where exactly are his lands located? I don't remember (T . T) I need to reread)
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Eshonai basically tossed into the chasm by Adolin at the end of WoR? I know the Parshendi say she must've drowned during a highstorm, but I still feel like her "death" was when she fell in the chasm, even if she was still technically alive until the highstorm. I don't think she really qualifies as an off-screen death.
