  1. How I imagine a Mistborn would kill a Knight Radiant. 1. Get in close. Right in front of the knight. 2. Burn bendalloy, then Atium. 3. Prepare to burn steel to launch a coin throught the eyeslit into the knights skull. 4. Look for the future in that the coin passes throught the bendalloy bubble in such a way, that it hits the knights brain throught the eyeslit. 5. Launch the coin in that way. Result: The knight is either dead or severly hampered by the coin in his brain. If he isn't dead, pull your obsidian dagger and move in for the kill.
  2. Whoa. This threat is something else. So naturally I am going to add my two cents. First of you need to define, what metals the Mistborn has access to, how strong his allomancy is, how skilled he is and what equipment he has. Lets assume he has access to all 16 metals + atium in reasonable amounts, while being of a comparable strength and skill to Vin and Kelsier. This would give us the most options, when referencing feats from the books. The problem is the equipment. Here you can significantly alter the balance of any fight. Put a Mistborn in the classical "Final-Empire-Get-Up" and he will have a harder time, compared to being in full aluminium armour, while being armed with aluminium weaponry and guns, which would be expensive, but possible by the second era. Or give him knowledge of hemalurgy, a revolver with aluminium bullets and boom every fight is trivial. I think the most fair, would be two aluminium knives and a gambeson or something similar plus a reasonable amount of coins and extra vials. Good compromise between defense, offense, ressources and mobility. And quite comparable to what was used in the books. You can broadly put the mistborns opponents into 4 categories. 1. easy prey 2. challenging, but still favourably for the Mistborn 3. victor is determined by skill, terrain, luck, etc 4. You will first finish Bloodborne playing on bananas blindfolded, before you win here Number 1 would be everyone, who doesn't have somekind of healing ability. Mistborns just have to much damage potential to be defeated by someone without healing properties. So here I would place normal humans, most mistings and ferrings including f-gold, all awakeners including the Godking and Returned, sandmasters, koloss, pretty much everyone with sellish investiture excluding Elantrians and Dakhor monks, soulcasters, aviar users, aetherwielders and most forms of singers. Number 2 would be everyone, who either has healiing powers or is naturally resilient. This would be shardbearers, Radiants up to the third ideal as their major advantage is the plate, Fused, Dakhor monks, lifeless, Kandra and some Twinborns. These beings can either heal from the inflicted damage like radiants, resist it quite effectivly like Dakhor monks or the Fused. I placed Twinborns here, because they can have quite a challenging power set for a mistborn, but aren't as dangerous as the people in category 3. Number 3 here the victor of the fight is still determined by skill, terrain, luck, etc, although the mistborn is either at a advantage or disadvantage. Here I would place Radiants of the fourth and fifth ideals, heralds (after Honors death with their blades), twinborns with hemalurgic spikes, inquisitors equivalent to the ones in the final empire and during Ruins reign, Elantrians, Shades, Feruchemists, other mistborns and medallion users. These users have either extremely similar powers to Mistborns or are on a comparable power level or slightly stronger or weaker. Number 4 is a hopeless fight for every Mistborn. Here I would place hemalurgicly enhanced mistborn and feruchemists, steelcompounders, nicrosilcompounders, Inquisitors similiar to Marsh, Marsh, Kelsier in his current form, Fullborn, Unmade, Shards, Splinters, Dragons, Hoid. Just not worth discussing. TL,DR: Mistborn have a pretty good chance against almost everything in the cosmere, a lot of fights come down to skill, terrain, luck, etc. Some beings just wreck Mistborns. A fight against a Radiant of the fifth Ideal is not as clear cut as most people seem to think.
  3. Allomantic Electrum, Feruchemical Zinc and the sixth Heigthening. A-Electrum and F-Zinc allow you to be a cheaper Seer and gifts you increased mental capacity, speed of thought and probably intelligence, while also being relativly easy to store. I mean how often do you need to think about something really hard? Or focus really strong? The sixth Heightening so I would be able to live for ever and awaken aswell. Also all the "bonuses" the Heightenings give, complement the twinborn powers quite well, especially perfect life sense. F-Zinc would be quite usefull to discover new awakening commands. From there on you can just go nuts. Acquire three hemalurgic spikes all the medallions you want; steal a bunch of alluminium and build weapons and armors; go get more breaths and make your own Nightblood; find your way to Roshar and pick up a soulcaster, honorblade and some shardplate ind different colours; train your own pet aviar or shade. Just pick the fifth heightening and above to become ageless and you got all the time in the world to get even more powers.
  4. Just watched John Wick 3 yesterday and can't stop thinking about Keanu Reeves as Dalinar. Thoughts?
  5. Yeah noone understands how they came up with that. My guess is either powders or shrooms. I hope there was someone there who wrote all the Wobs down, because I completly forgot to note even the answers to my own questions.
  6. Today was Brandons signing in stuttgart. I went, so i thought i post everything that I still remember. He read a draft of the first chapter of Rythms of War, Stormlight 4. He mentioned, that he has already read one version before, so this probably isnt the hottest news. The chapter is from Lirins point of view a year after the end of Oathbringer. The singers seem to have conquered all of Alethkar and Herdaz. Naturally they also control Hearthstone and a lot of refugee from Herdaz come to town. Lirin is checking them for wounds and diseases. He has a longer talk with the leading singer lady in which they discuss, if Lirin actually feels for his patients. He says, that he cant allow himself to feel to much and she acusses him of having a stone for a heart. Later on he mentions that there is a new kind of plaque in the east, similiar to the ones that old manuscripts talk about. Something that hasnt been seen in modern times. He also dicusses with Laral, what do to with the Herdazian general, from the interlude in Oathbringer, as he is one of the refugees. Apparently he lost the war against the singers and got most of his men killed in a hopeless battle. Laral mentions, that some people would call that heroism, Lirin says he would rather have the men back. Brandon also mentioned, that the first scene of the Threndoy novel is people coming ashore after being shipwrecked at the coast of the homeland. I got to ask two questions, but unfortunately I have to paraphrase the answers. 1. If you have a way to manipulate Identity, like feruchemical aluminium, and a way of healing, like feruchemical gold, would you be able to not just shapeshift, but actually evolve your body like growing wings. A: He said, that you would need something more then just blanking your Identity and healing to actually evolve your body, but he said that it is enough for shapeshifting and quite similiar to what the singers do. For evolving you would need to be able to seriously manipulate your spiritweb. He also said, that hemalurgy would make this far easier, but also evil. 2. At the end of Oathbringer Kaladin says, that the oaths are about perception. So what would happen, when a crazy person bonds a crazy spren? Is there a hard limit to what the oaths allow or could they just go on a John Wick style rampage. A: He said, that eventually there would be hard limits, but that perception will get you a very long way, like Nightblood proves. So this was my first signing and it was awesome. Although I didnt get to ask one of the German translators how they got from Well of Ascension to Warriors of Fire. That still confuses me. He answered a great deal more questions, but I dont remember most of them well enough, so if you went please post them. Thanks.
  7. Marsh on Roshar would be really cool. Just to see his unique view on being stuck in a second apocalypse or him as a dustbringer. Someone with such a destructive origin and power, must basically be ashspren viagra.
  8. The deepest ones on Threnody, dustbringer sprens, all things metallic arts, Marsh and Kelsier, more of Nalthis.
  9. I think abilities refers to things like mental fortitude, physical strength or perhaps even cooking, because we already have Nicrosil, which steals investiture and Atium, which steals any power. So having Lerasium steal literally everything makes no sense. What I propose is that Nicrosil steals Investiture (= Magic), Lerasium steals abilities (certain skills, bodily features like strength or mental fortitude) and Atium can steal all powers (= all magics + all abilities (given that physical strength and so on could also be considered a power, in the case of strength quite literally)). I disagree with this quite strongly. Yes Atium turns you into a ridiculous killing machine, but Lerasium gives you 16 differnt powers +X. And Atium is only powerfull combined with other powers, when fighting someone with other powers. We see this when Yomen fights against Vin (?). Lerasium and Atium are the strongest metals in there respective magic systems.
  10. Do hemalurgic spikes interfere with southern-scadrian medallions? And if they do, would they count to the three spike threshold for being controlled? I can really see this going both ways, given that my theory on why medallions interfer is, that you are grafting to many different parts onto your spiritweb. Thanks
  11. Can Brandon actually break Nicrosil compounding? He kind of already proved, that it works with the Bands of Mourning. The only thing I can imagine is that the powers would interfere with eachother like Alik says the medallions do.
  12. Any idiot worldhopper taking a detour to Threnody, lighting a fire.
  13. Spark could also be just insane and take the first ideal literally. Life before death, you were alive before i killed you. The ideals are based of the interpretation of the spren and the radiant involved, right? They aren't mentioned to have hard border. Like step over this line and you break the bond, wasn't build in buy H&C. So if two psychopaths find eachother they could start a lot of trouble.
  14. If you can manipulate identity and have a way of healing like feruchemicla gold, you should be able do permanetly shape shift.
  15. We have seen a Hemalurgist worldhopper? Who and where?
  16. Krios

    Favorite Metals?

Zinc, both allomantic and feruchemical. Rioting and mental speed, imagine the possibilties.
  17. You could make an argument for it being even more op then being an actual fullborn, because fullborns dont get resonances and you could by manipulating the amount of metals and minds you are actively drawing power from. Second thought, that argument is kinda weak, but still interesting idea.
  18. Okay I need to work on being more precise. My idea was: 1. Wear two spikes charged with A&F-Nicrosil 2. Add a third spike charged with whatever, for example A-steel 3. Store A-steel into a nicrosilmind. 4. Switch the third spike with another attribute. 5. Repeat 1-4. 6. Compound the attributes. So no problem with shardic interference, because that only happens, when you have four spikes. Basically that is what I would do, then travel to Nalthis for breaths to reach the sixth heightening then get the surge of transformation.
  19. Sorry forgot to mention, that you would also need a full set of spikes of all other allomantic and feruchemical powers. With that you could basically make your own bands of mourning, which would never run out thanks to compounding as long as you have enough nicrosil.
  20. Yes, I would also like to very much know the answer to that questions. Mainly because Hemalurgy is the most fascinating magic to me, followed by Awakening. Maru Nui What happens when you burn a Hemalurgic spike? Brandon Sanderson Burning a Hemalurgic spike would have the effect of splicing your spiritual DNA to that of the person's that is in the spike, which would have some very strange consequences. source I think this is the newest WoB on this topic. To me it suggests, that you will gain the power in the spike, but also warp your soul during the process. Maybe that just means a personality change or even a change in physical appearance, when you use healing magic the next time. But would this method create cracks in your spiritweb or not? Hemalurgy and insanity does so, but you are essentially adding more soul to your own permanently, maybe that would fill up the cracks. If this is the case, you could circumvent shardic control by doing this. Also you could just get yourself two spikes, that contain A&F-Nicrosil and tada Fullborn. Plus people with thoes abilities are way easier to kill than a coinshot. The whole hunting someone for their power is something, that seems to be disregarded a lot, but would actually be pretty dangerous. I eman try stealing the surge of transformation from Jasnah or A-steel from Wax without having any powers yourself. Obviously you should first aquire some form of immortality, so you have all the time you need. I would go for buying breaths up to the sixth heightening, for eternity and deeper knowledge about awakening.
  21. Arent there bullets, that are specifically designed to rip quite huge holes? Like where the bullet is shaped in a special way. You could teach your spren to mimic that form.
  22. Couldnt you use a normal gun and construct bullets where your spren assumes the part of the flying piece, while the physical bullet is just the blackpowder in a metal casing and the spren sits on top of it.
  23. I think a killing spree among allomancers and ferrings, all with holes in special places, all killed with a similiar weapon, would relativley fast draw attention. If not from the heros, then from the broadsheets and constables. The Set can't possibly control everything outside Elendel. And I do think the Kandra would look for suspicious deaths. Also concerning the warehouse. I got the impression, that it is a pretty ramshackel construction, which had quickly been build.
  24. WARNING: THIS THEORY IS BRUTAL AND GRIMDARK! So I wondered where the Set got their hemalurgic spikes like the ones Edwarn and Telsin use. 1. They could just harvest spikes from their own misting and ferrings. I think this is unlikely, because it is somewhat wastefull and good luck getting your most powerfull fighters to get themselves killed. 2. They could go around murdering mistings and ferrings in the general population. Also unlikely as it would very fast draw enourmous amounts of attention. Specifically from Wax, who knows about hemalurgy. And now the third and really dark option. Snapping in Era 2 has a way lower threshold than in Era 1. So it probably occours at birth, which is quite traumatic, we just dont remember. Also Vin snapped at birth or close after that. The Set also still have the highborn ladies, who are all related to the most powerfull allomatic heritage on Scadrial (Spook aka the Lord Mistborn). The sheet Wax uses to draw the their familylines is "5 feet long and several feet wide". That indicates a significant number of victims. And they probably also abducted terriswomen, but as they aren't important people, that just didn't draw the publics attention. So they could "breed" misting and ferring babies, use a skilled seeker to determine their powers and then harvest them. So instead of 18 years to create one misting or ferring, you could create one in less then a year. Marasi even mentions, that they want to breed an army of allomancers in Alloy of Law. So it doesn't seem to far fetched. Depressed greetings
