  1. Oh, that’s a great point. Do we know if a Radiant can worldhop without breaking their bond or injuring their spren, since spren are slivers themselves? Or perhaps they aren’t injured, but start losing themselves the farther their human travels, like how Syl was ok when she got separated from Kaladin in RoW when he dove into the well to get to the sibling’s node, then subsequently fled the tower. When he went back to the marketplace she zipped right back to him and didn’t seem to permanently lose much of herself. Maybe Radiants can worldhop, but they lose their abilities away from Roshar?
  2. Recap of what we know, based on a recent re-read of Rhythm of War: 1. The Ghostbloods are looking for a way to transport Stormlight to other planets. Mraize also explains that the same Connection issues that prevent Stormlight from moving away from Roshar also apply to heavily-Invested people. 2. Thaidakar cannot leave Scadrial, likely because he is so heavily Invested and has such strong Connection to that planet. 3. Mraize says Kelek is working on a way to escape Roshar. He may have ideas on how a highly-Invested person might be able to move off planet. 4. The Ghostbloods are obsessed with Ba-Ado-Mishram. 5. Kelek believes the Ghostbloods were hunting him to get information about Ba-Ado-Mishram. 6. Ba-Ado-Mishram was Connected with the Singers, and putting Ba-Ado-Mishram in a gemstone ripped away Identity and Connection from them. 7. Ba-Ado-Mishram is trapped in a perfect gemstone. We don't know where Ba-Ado-Mishram's gemstone is, but Shallan is committed to finding it before the Ghostbloods 8. Rhythm of War hints that Shallan may soon become a worldhopper If Ba-Ado-Mishram's imprisonment somehow affected her Connection with everyone's souls on Roshar, that could help Thaidakar sever his connection with Scadrial and allow him to move off-planet. Theory time: I wonder if Ba-Ado-Mishram's gemstone has been moved off-planet and somehow the Ghostbloods found out about it happening, hence Thaidakar's obsession with finding her and interrogating Kelek. Given the implication of Shallan being ready to explore other worlds, I wonder if Shallan's mission in Wind and Truth will be a worldhopping adventure to track down Ba-Ado-Mishram before the Ghostbloods can get to her. I can't wait for Wind and Truth! With the new Odium wanting to "save them all", El preparing to lead a human legion in a greater war, and Thaidakar aching to get off-world, there are going to be some major Cosmere-wide implications at the end of this Stormlight arc!
  3. Anyone else get Die Hard vibes from Kaladin being the rogue troublemaker hiding in the upper floors of occupied Urithiru? If Die Hard is a Christmas movie, and Rhythm of War is a Die Hard doppelgänger, is Rhythm of War a Christmas book? Yippee Ki Yay, Odium!!
  4. Oh doy, right there in the same chapter. Those late night reading sessions take their toll. I’ll keep an eye out for the origins of this original owner and why Mraize wanted him dead.
  5. One thought on Vasher / Nightblood / Dawnshards- I wonder if a Dawnshard supplied the intent/command to create Nightblood? The sleepless were willing to kill Rysn to hide the knowledge of a Dawnshard. Vasher killed Shashara to hide knowledge of how Nightblood was created. Given how powerful Nightblood is, I suspect something like a Dawnshard was used in its creation in addition to breaths. Just a theory.
  6. I’ve been wondering this too. It seems odd for a second colorful “chicken” to appear at Urithiru. How did it get there? Assuming it was brought there, who was the original owner? I have a hard time seeing a tropical bird finding its own way to a tower on top of a mountain. I also find it unlikely that someone would bring an Aviar all the way to Urithiru and not come looking for it- unless they wanted Lift to have it.
  7. I guess if Shinovar has grapes, an Apple wouldn’t be too far out of context
  8. Very good observations and commentary. These usually don’t stick out to me while reading, but this one rubbed the wrong way (pun intended): It interrupted my reading to think- did they have sandpaper on Roshar in this period? Navani requisitioned a file later in the book, so maybe they had other woodworking tools? That Brandon footnote helped clear this up for me. Also, was Kelek eating an apple on the first day of Adolin’s trial? That also seemed rather earth-y to me.
  9. I was wondering that - if she happened upon a stash of perfect gemstones that would be especially notable.
  10. I wonder if Sleepless got the idea to mimic humans from Kandra... As guardians of the Dawnshards, assuming that the other Dawnshards are spread throughout the Cosmere, I wonder if there are Sleepless on other planets and they have instantaneous communication with one another...
  11. Sounds like a device that would be really helpful to make Urithiru more inhabitable. It also sounds similar to the cold/tropical climate described in the Horneater Peaks. From Cord: Theory time - Sibling (or remnant thereof) is in the Horneater peaks now, making things lush. Cord's allusion to the "Ancient pact of the Seven Peaks" - sounds very oath-y to me. I wonder if a plot point of RoW will be Rock proving his devotion to his oaths by returning for punishment, qualifying him bond the Sibling, enabling him to charge the pillar underneath Urithiru to power the tower and make it nice and homey. Seems fitting - like a figurative stew wafting through the entire tower, bringing it to life. It tracks with his character.
  12. That was a miraculous find, where were they and how did they stay charged after so much time presumably hidden under the island?
  13. Just wait until the Sleepless meet their first Kandra...
