  1. It's not unsupported, weakly supported you could say, but it is literally described as a spike - a very important element within the Cosmere. And it is a theory, not a "theory". I wasn't expecting anyone to prove or disprove anything. I was just thinking out loud about possibilities but I'm getting the impression it's not appreciated around here. I mean you don't have to comment.
  2. Some of your responses are factually inaccurate. It doesn't "kind of look like" a spike. It is "shaped like an enormous spike". I'm not "assuming that because Taln has a thin blade, he controls Thunderclasts" I'm theorizing that because Brandon described his sword as being "shaped like an enormous spike", it has a relation to hemalurgic spikes that we have prominently seen before. Has there been any mention of something being a spike and not directly related to Hemalurgy? It's a very important thing within the Cosmere and I find it unlikely he would use that description for such an important item carelessly.
  3. Wow you guys are really overthinking this. I mentioned thunderclasts because frankly, we don't know many enemies they battled with. Maybe 'Stormstriders' or How many times do I have to say it's just a theory, and while nobody seems to support it so far, no one has disproved it either.
  4. uh, no? I'm theorizing that because his blade is a spike, it is partially intended to take advantage of Hemalurgy. Yes, but they are clearly not the same. An Honorblade doesn't require a nahel bond for example, and it's been hinted that they are capable of things a normal blade isn't. Since Honor created the blades I thought it would be highly possible he knew of Hemalurgy and would be the responsible party.
  5. Ah but this is not a Shardblade or Nightblood. This is an Honorblade, and has different properties we don't yet know. I picture in my mind Taln riding a thunderclast into battle, it seems very suiting for him. He could also potentially use it on other creatures we haven't seen. Maybe directing an enemy with his mind while using other weapons in person.
  6. Kandra are from Scadrial, the question essentially had two parts and implied there are people not from Scadrial who have used Hemalurgy. Also WOK was the first Cosmere book I read, and even then I could tell there was a significance to his sword being a spike. I'm obviously not saying "this is for sure it", but I think the shape of his sword is very relevant, and we all know what a spike does in the Cosmere. It's just a theory.
  7. Thanks for the reply. I have some web dev skills and have implemented a dark theme with only one extra user model field and an additional small style sheet. If you're interested I might be able to do it for you. Thanks anyway.
  8. Like the title says, is there a dark theme site-wide option available?
  9. From the very first chapter. He can manipulate what is there, but what's there is only what Honor thought to include for his purposes.
  10. Symmetrical in every way, as in a circle or sphere.
  11. Yes, technically. Don't you think it should be completely symmetrical though?
  12. During Dalinars conversation with the Stormfather about the Champion, the Stormfather relates how such a battle would not defeat Odium, only bind him, and buy Roshar more time until he comes back. My thought is this: How would that make for a good ending for the series? I don't think it would. I think we would only be satisfied to see the threat of Odium defeated permanently, which means that either the champion battle can not occur or it will happen mid-series where either it buys only a small amount of time (book 5 interlude) OR what is more likely for a mid-series showdown, the good guys lose. Maybe resulting in the death of Kaladin, Alodin or maybe more likely, Dalinar. Given the amount of page time the topic has gotten so early in book 3, I'm inclined to believe it will happen sooner than later. It will be a book climax, rather than the final battle. The other possibility that I'm seeing thrown around is that there will be a new ultimate baddie. Someone we haven't seen yet who will step in for the second arc, making it possible Odium is defeated early. But personally, I don't see it happening. I think Odium is less an 'ultimate bad guy' and more of means to create a dramatic story. Thoughts? Has anyone seen any foreshadowing or death-rattles that might imply a major disaster for the good guys?
  13. It seems obvious that what we have seen of Urithiru is only half of what should be. I think it was described like it was sheared in half with a shardblade, and given the minor obsession with symmetry has anyone discussed why it was made that way? It was clearly intentional, since it has windows along the flat side and there hasn't been mention of constant dead-ends. It has 10 levels of 18 stories, giving it 180 stories (180 degrees is half of a circle). I'll guess there is another half to Urithiru either in Shadsmar or possibly on Braize. Given what we know of Shadsmar being a replica made of spheres, it might make sense that only half of it was built on Roshar so that the other half could be habitable by spren in Shadsmar. And the close relations between Radiants and spren would make this the more likely scenario. But I also wonder if the other half could be on Braize, given the use of the number 9 (18/2) and mysterious duplicity seen in early Oathbringer chapters. It could be they are a reflection of each other somehow. Not that I think that would be revealed at this point, I think the murderer plot will be fleshed out much earlier. But it could be setting up for a larger reveal of interconnectedness further on. It was implied the city was built by the Radiants, but maybe it actually predates them, maybe it contains a gateway to travel all the way to Braize and back?
  14. I don't think his anger was unjustified or evil at all. But I do find an interesting parallel to Odium, whom Brandon has said is not evil. For a while I thought it just meant 'hate' but when I looked it up again it's actually "the state of being subjected to hatred as a result of a despicable act", as in hated not hating. So actions like that could easily lead to being hated which puts them closer to Odium, like I said, they are likened to Voidbringers. I'm actually not convinced right now that do you want to elaborate on that?. Nale seems ready for a change of tactics after the ending of Edgedancer. Also, we already have an Edgedancer. Do you think Brandon is going to start doubling up main characters? I don't see him putting Adolin second after Lift.
