  1. Theres some overlap in archetypes, I suppose, but that could be said of most fantasy. The new generation has to save the world from an evil set in motion by past misdeeds- they're helped by a few mentors/leaders/some ancient trurh until they come into their own.
  2. So, I was troubleshooting this PA that was drawing too much current, burning filters and popping transistors, and I start looking down the RF path, and notice a transformer turn that doesn't look quite right on the grounding. I got to unsolder it to move its placement for better grounding. I'm using flux and a fat solder tip, but the center wire/solder just isn't getting hot enough for the wick to suck up the solder. I look closer, and..... yep, they put a transformer with the wrong bent on. Basically, the center wire and shielding are all on the ground plane, effectively taking the turn completely out of circuit, causing and imbalance and super poor efficiency. No wonder making power was impossible to do without burning up components......
  3. I think the phrase, 'Unite Them" is cosmere wide. Ultimately, yes- I think Adonalsium must he re-united.
  4. There should be two shardpools. And it could be possible that worldhoppers use the second, but we still don't have any confirmation on whether it's been utilized. A part of me wonders if the skaze and the Fjiordel bone runes are corrupted versions of seons and aeons. We know Odium splintered Devotion and Dominion, so I wonder how much investiture Odium may have expended in doing so, and whether it left its fingerprint on Sel.
  5. I don't disagree that it is accessible. I'm just curious on how accessible, or what factors may or may not have led to them becoming more accessible in the gap. I started this asking about Reod era Elantrians becoming Ire. But, I'm aware it's all supposition. How accessible (eh?) is the arcanum coppermind?
  6. This is true, but we don't know what happened in on Sel between Elantris and him showing up at Purelake.
  7. Perhaps he just had to leave, to pull strings elsewhere? Consider any (though not all) taken up by the Shaod are adults. I don't believe there is a pre-determined amount of time in which to become Elantrian. I think it more likely he had to do something elsewhere and wasn't able to become Elantrian in the time he (was) allotted to do so. Perhaps the Reod did weaken the perpendicularity. But then, how did Hoid make it there to begin with? Was he stuck on Sel for 10 years, or can you still come in through a perpendicularity that you can't leave through?
  8. Thanks for the info, all. I guess I had assumed the Ire were post Reod castoffs, because if that organization was around prior to it, i would have figured when the Reod did hit, and the Eleantrians were being overthrown, they would have just left via the perpendicularity.
  9. The Ire, as we know are Elantrians that were thrown into the Shardpool once their pain after the Reod became too much to bear. The questions I've been pondering is whether they knew what the shardpool would do, and whether regained a measure of their former glory as Elantrians simply by traveling to the CR, or if they stayed basically Hoed until Raoden figured out how to get the Dor flowing again. Any theories or WoB's on this?
  10. No, I'm saying he's fom Nalrhis. We have no idea of him before he was returned. We dont know how long he lived or for how long he was dead. It's probably not true, but he has some backstory to fill in, and since Nightblood is similar enough in investiture cost to an honorblade, it does make for a fun crackpot theoy.
  11. So, is the Warbreaker a Herald? Nightbood uses a tremendous amount of breath and nothing is known of Vasher before he returned. He is came to Roshar to find Nightblood presumably, but did Nale take Nightblood to force him into coming back?
  12. Shards.. ...crystal, no? To me it makes sense it would be a frequency related split. Imagine a perfect harmony with all of the vessels singing their part on the register. It creates a harmony shattering Adonalsium. The part of the harmony "sung" dictates the attribute the vessel is imbued with. Ok, so maybe not al of it. But with crystals involved, frequency seems highly viable for the shattering itself.
  13. hundreds, def not thousands. the radiants disbanded "a few centuries" after the last desolation.
