  1. It’s pretty much what i expected also. However i do believe there is a significant chance that we would get The Lost Metal towards the end of 2020.. I believe that for SA4 to be published at a similar date, its first and second drafts have to be finished by the end of 2019. I also believe that Brandon suspects that it would take longer to finish SA4, past the self-imposed 2019 deadline, which would mean no primary book scheduled for publishing in 2020. Having thought of that, he might decide, during the summer, to take a break from SA4 and finish The Lost Metal instead for a 2020 release, and push SA4 for a 2021 release
  2. If i could choose, i would choose to read about finishing some series instead of starting some new one. Hearing about The Lost Metal would be even better, since so far, it is my favorite Sanderson series,
  3. I believe its one of: Sixth of the dusk sequel, Silverlight novella or Silence Divine novella .. Threnody can’t be, since it is a novel if done now and done right it could be available for late summer release, which means, 2018 will not pass without a cosmere story According to the state of the sanderson, this period was supposed to be reserved for the outline of the last alcatraz book.. but maybe he is doing them simultaneously
  4. Nightblood is squeduled after the elantris sequels (2 and 3).. and those are squeduled after the wax and wayne conclusion (release date is 2019).. and between them, there should be a 2 year period to write Stormlight 4 .. it would be a miracle if nightblood happens before 2025
  5. We don’t actually! But you can see the last three state of the sanderson (2015, 2016 and now) everything is changed except those dates. It was the same in that reddit post with the different squeduling. If you take that argument and add the fact that he has claimed multiple times that he is writing there books to relax from the ‘more important cosmere ones’ it doesn’t make a shred of sense to maintain that publication order. What i’m saying is, if the deal was flexible, he would have written them when/if available, not strictly like now
  6. It would have been a lot better if he had a different deal with delacorte, instead of book per year, book per 2 years .. The squedule would have something like this skyward 2018 + legion wax and wayne 2019 + alcatraz skyward 2020 + rithmatist stormlight 4 2021 + the dark one elantris2 2022 + skyward elantris3 2023 + The dark one 2 Stormlight 5 2024 + apocalypse
  7. Well its clear .. Brandon wants to guve himself some leeway with the Skyward series .. if he write all three this year, he can have one book squeduled for publication every year until 2020 .. but the cosmere is suffering because of it .. Wax and Wayne will probably be published at the end of 2019 ... stormlight 4 would probably be 2021 .. Alcatraz could be early next year so along with legion, 2 full series finished .. great if he can find the time for rithmatist 2, before stormlight 4, it would be even better
  8. I would honestly be surprised if the movie ends up in cinema (even as a limited release). Most likely it would be a 4/10 Imdb score straigh to dvd/vod. The reality is that fantasy if not done right and expensive it would fail. Apart from the Lotr, hobbit and the first narnia everything else is a disaster. Stephen King, the guy that has a movie for every book, gave his magnum opus to be massacred with a 50m budget. If you ask me, the marvel cinematic universe sistem could effectively be implemented in the cosmere, starting (all of them have to have something that connects them, like hoid + a watcher or something) mistborn 1 mistborn 2 elantris nightblood 1 mistborn 3 Woc max and wayne elantris 2 wor maz wayne 2 elantris 2 max and wayne 3 Oathbreaker Elantris 3 max and wayne 4 nightblood 2 SA 4 2 movies per year and this is already a 9 year project.
  9. He already said somewhere that the break between AG book 1 and 2 will be Legion 3 . I believe its because he doesn't have anything ready for 2018 release apart from AG1. There is also a strong possibility that Alcatraz would he a hidden one (written during revisions)
  10. Really bummed that there is no w&w4 squeduled for next year. I can understand his reasons but spending to much prime writing time on a side project is a bit of waste. It should have been AG book as a break from writing the important ones, but as i have said before, i believe the contract for AG publication dates is far more rigid than the TOR ones
  11. i would like to make a slighly more complex post, whit particular ratings about the plot/story, character, magic system and the language for the authors i have read so far (only the epic fantasy books are taken into consideration). Since its epic fantasy it is assumed all have decent or better than that, worldbuilding Sanderson (there can be seen a lot of improvement on the box/language since he took the wheel of time project) Plot 5* magic sistem 5+* (ultimate best) characters 4* the box/language 4,5* Joe Abercrombie Plot 4* magic sistem 1,5* characters 5+* (the best from these here) the box/language 5* George RR Martin Plot 5* magic sistem 1* characters 5* the box/language 5* Patrick Rothfuss Plot 3,5* magic sistem 5* characters 3* the box/language 5+* Jim Butcher (here i took an the Urban Fantasy, Dresden files into account along with Codex Alera) Plot 4* magic sistem 3,5* characters 3,5* (but fun) the box/language 4* All others, in my opinion, (barring those that i havent read yet), are a bit inferior. Sometimes a lot inferior Steven Erickson is great at plot and characters but to tough to follow for the common reader (Malazan is trully an Epic) Peter V Brett's Demon Cycle starts strong, lose a lot along the way, recovers somewhat, and we'll see how it will end in October Brent Weeks with Lightbringer, his better series, can be seen as a Sanderson lite. Night angel hovewer, even if it has great ideas, it is badly written, espesially the first book Mark Lawrence can be seen as a combination of Abercrombie and Butcher, just not that good Anthony Ryan, Brian McClellan and Brian Staveley are honorable mentiones, and good enough to read Michael J Sulliven started good enough to float above the water, and improved dramatically along the way, to warrant a place in the company of the previous three Larry Correia had a solid start with the Son of the black sword (a better book than many of those from the previously mentioned authors) All these mentioned, in my opinion, are worth spending your money and time reading I started and stoped with Lies of Lock Lamora and wasn't very thrilled. Since Scott Lynch is a slow writter, i will wait for him to complete the series, so i can try again I also started and stopped with Assassins Apprentice from Robin Hobb, but the writing style was jarring for me. Will try again in the future
  12. When i read the state of the sanderson i saw a potential problem with the squeduled book release: February 2017: SnapshotNovember 2017: Stormlight 3Spring 2018: Apocalypse Guard 1Fall 2018: Wax and Wayne 4 (final book)Sometime 2019: Apocalypse Guard 2Sometime 2019: Undecided. (There will likely be a second novel this year. It’s possible that I’m still working on Stormlight 4 though, and will have a lean year as a result.)Sometime 2020: Stormlight 4Sometime 2020: Apocalypse Guard 3 (final book) according to this, and his well known plan to write 3 smaller books between stormlight books, the 3rd Apocalypse would have waited to be written after stormlight4. And thats a looong wait for that book. He tells us that he is writing them to replenish his energy between serious books, but, i believe, his contract there is far more rigid than the Tor one. Just look at the proposed squeduling above, where every apocalypse book is on a strict one year period. Recognizing this, he probably thought that writing them all at once will give him far more leeway in doing his other, more important work. But that would negate the fact that he is writing them to give himself a break from doing the tough ones. I believe, to make everyone happy (honoring his contracts, and fan expectations) and give himself break he should write them as follows - Apocalypse guard 1 (3-5 months) - rithmatist2 or The lost Metal (3-5 months) - Alcatraz (one month) - Apocalypse guard 2 (3-5 months) - rithmatist2 or The lost Metal (3-5 months) - Legion3 (one month) - Apocalypse guard 3 ( 3-5 months) - Stormlight 4 Best case scenario, he will start writing Stormlight4 in the spring 2019, worst case, summer 2020.. I strongly suggest he stop writing new material before he completes his ongoing serials, including novellas. That being said, i have a feeling that if there are to be novellas written in this perios, they would be Snapshot 2,3,4 (because of the movie rights)
