  1. Personally I think it would be interesting to see more Kaladin and Jasnah sparring wits but I think that’s about as far as it goes. Maybe some additional flirting that never goes anywhere. I think Brandon’s plan for a Kaladin romance will follow the fantasy trope of the girl you grew up with in your hometown. It’s honestly the easy way out to write I believe. Somehow Roshonne dies and suddenly the girl Syl admits to already liking (Laral) needs saving from Kaladin (which is even ironic as Laral says she doesn’t need saving and Kaladin says that was the woman he was never going to marry). How wrong these two idiots are; they’re perfect for each other and they just don’t realize it yet. Honestly I find the Whole Jasnah/Kaladin dynamic more interesting. Hell, kill off Adolin an respark Shaladin. That would probably be more interesting too! That’s more difficult to write compellingly and if I were Brandon, Laral is just the easier choice. Mark my words.
  2. So let's pretend you're in Bridge Four... The leader you trust and have faith in went off somewhere dangerous without any help. The powers you've sort of been developing don't seem to be working now that Kaladin isn't close by. Sure you can't "fly" like Kaladin, but I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't want to follow after towards Kaladin, even if it takes you several more days, months, or years to catch up. I also find it suspicious that whenever Bridge Four is mentioned it usually ends up being vague just saying bridgemen or Bridge Four (with I believe the exception for Lopen and Rlain are the two members I remember at least being mentioned). I believe a small contingent of Bridge Four members have set out to help or find Kaladin, headed maybe towards Kholinar rather than Hearthstone and at some point will save or assist Kaladin when he is in a bind. My only gripe with this is Kaladin just recently spoke with Dalinar by spanreed. If this ends up being the case, shouldn't Dalinar have mentioned some of his men are headed his way? I don't know, what do you guys think?
  3. If Syl wishes, she can reveal herself to whomever she wants (like she has done in the past to Sigzil). I mean I also imagine Kaladin might actually introduce Syl himself, but in a more private setting most likely. My guess is Kaladin will probably summon his sword to protect people from something shortly, and he might introduce his shardblade in private to Lirin/Hesina afterwards. If I were Kaladin I would want to bring my parents back to Urithiru but from what we know of Lirin, he would never abandon the townspeople unless they can all go together as a group and because Hearthstone is no longer safe.
  4. I agree on the whole missing Shallan (and even Renarin). Wouldn't Shallan have accompanied Adolin to the wedding? Fortunately, I think Brandon might cover Shallan more next 3 chapters in the Adolin or Shallan POV chapters so I'll reserve judgment for now. So happy Kaladin's parents are at least alive (for now). That reunion was long awaited and great to read. I found it odd that Syl wouldn't have wanted to introduce herself to Lirin/Hesina right away but I guess she could be waiting for an opportunity to do so in private later. I have this dreadful feeling that Lirin is about to die in front of Kaladin, upgrading Kaladin's gloom to super levels. (Please be wrong ).
  5. Pretty interesting theory. Seems like plausible logic to me I like it.
  6. Well may as well explain my thoughts a bit about Sebarial and Palona a bit more. It stems mostly from Sebarial's sudden decision to actually go with Dalinar on the final expedition. Everyone recognizes it as strange. Someone who has paid to not do gemheart runs suddenly deciding he's willing to fight means either Shallan has convinced him off screen something valuable is there or he already knows/believes something valuable is out there to be found. But the even stranger part to me is when the 2 storms are approaching, we see Sebarial and Palona relaxed eating and drinking while pretty much everyone else is panicking and scrambling for their lives at this point. This stands out to me as a little crazy/mad and crazy/mad are sort of what has become of the Heralds after thousands of years (and I believe by word of Brandon too). Maybe I should make a separate thread on more of my thoughts because I have more but part of me thinks it's a bit crazy and likely wrong.
  7. Hmmm I have a few probably wrong theories going on in my head but for now let's go with: Sebarial and/or Palona are secretly a Heralds of the Almighty.
  8. No one has mentioned Kaladin's dad, Lirin. I want Lirin to be an Edgedancer or Truthwatcher so the surgeon who has been saving people all his life can continue to do so.
  9. I think at least part of Kaladin's future ideals will be related to how he was unable to protect people and then blaming himself for it. While I certainly hope I'm wrong, I think something terrible probably has happened to either one of both of Kaladin's parents. I can sorta see Roshone continuing to torment Lirin and since he has already taken Lirin's sons, Roshone will do something to Hesina (Kaladin's mom). Obviously, Kaladin will blame himself for it all. Lirin has always been a light in Kaladin's eyes, someone Kaladin truly loves and admires. Kaladin even once mentions to (himself around) Shallan, what would have happened if he had to have been the one who brought light to his family instead of his parents or Tien. I think Kaladin is heading into a situation where he will need to be that light. What would Kaladin do if he comes back home only to find his mother dead, and his father Lirin probably now a self-loathing drunkard feeling he has lost everyone and everything he has cared about in his life. Lirin believes everything hopeless with his sons dead already, the town of Hearthstone scared away for good, and his wife, the last person he loves in the world taken from him. In terms of character development, it makes a lot of sense that Kaladin's reunion with his parents will be the foundation for whatever his next Ideal will be. I certainly hope I'm wrong though, I want Kaladin to be happy but that's not going to happen.
  10. Have you read the preview Kaladin chapter from Oathbringer yet? (Spoilers for Oathbringer, book 3) http://www.tor.com/2014/09/30/brandon-sanderson-stormlight-archive-book-3-first-chapter/
