I'm about 3/4 way done Oathbringer at this point, and I'm definitely enjoying it. That being said, however, I have found myself pretty concerned about Shallan. Her change in personality when portraying Veil was cute in WoR, but in Oathbringer she changes so wildly from Shallan to Veil to Radiant, altering her personality, self-control, confidence, conscious thoughts, and how she views other characters. This is textbook DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). She also behaves pretty wildly, stabbing herself in the leg with scissors, stabbing a mans' hand through her own, and purposely exposing her safehand to Kaladin, Adolin, and King Elhokar. Do you think Sanderson purposely portrayed her as mentally ill as a way to highlight her suffering as a child?

Hey, all! I found myself yearning for Oathbringers' November 14th release a few days ago, so I decided to make a playlist of some rock/pop/ folk songs that I think represent the characters. I encourage all of you fellow Sanderfans to add more playlists in different genres, but here's my start. The playlist is in the image. I'll explain a few key songs for you, though, as I have a few more obscure artists on the list. Anyway, one of the most representative songs, I think, is "River Driver" by Great Big Sea, which is a band from Newfoundland with heavy Celtic influences. Listening to the lyrics, they paint a picture of desperate young men being forced to work as river drivers (loggers). The lyrics like "Was just the edge of sixteen" and "far away from home" I think represent the hopelessness of Kaladin's situation in "The Way of Kings" and that imagery is a reminder of what he had to endure to get to the point of being an accepted Radiant in Dalinar's charge. The context of the song is different of course, but substitute "river driver" for "bridgeman" and the song works perfectly. Thanks for reading, and I hope that all of you will add your own playlists and suggestions!

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

When you look at family heirlooms and wonder if they ever held Stormlight. -
I guess you could make the stick your role model. You know, someone is forcing you to bow down, to change, to become something that you're not. But you just stay there, proud, strong, and you be yourself. That is what the stick represents. Stay strong, sharders!

Either Mistborn or Knight Radiant. Both really powerful if you use them right.

What to read after all the cosmere books
Fabian_Caldwell replied to bdoble97's question in Cosmere Q&A
The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss. Stunning book. It's heartfelt, original and beautifully written. Just wow. Told through the present day as a writer recording the life of past legend, it follows the adventures of a teenager named Kvothe (Pronounced Quohth) and his talents after the death of his parents. We also get present day Kvothe, now Kote, a lonely and depressed innkeeper. A traveling scribe convinces Kote to tell his story, and so begins the epic tale. 10/10 would read again. The first book is The Name of The Wind. Knock yourself out!
