  1. This may not be an issue because these typos are fixed with reprints, but in the UK paperback edition for part 2 (I didn’t notice on part 1, the blurbs might be the same), the blurb refers to Jasnah as Dalinar’s sister. This is also many years late, and I don’t think I’ve read all the posts on here, so it might not be useful, but then again it could be.
  2. It’s Venli, from the chapter headings. I thought it looked neat. Glad you like it!
  3. I made a pattern gif! I’m not sure if others have done this (they probably have) but it was good fun.
  4. Wow!!! That’s really good. I especially love the dotted rhythms: as you mentioned, it’s almost a pirate song.
  5. Ok, but all I’m seeing is rithmatics this, rithmatics that. You all are missing something wonderful about this book: the clockwork! I know that it’s a fairly major part in the ending, but it’s also?? So aesthetic?? The crabs that clip the lawn, the idea of sleek metal and gears turning smoothly, the fact that even the trains are clockwork. This book is excellent for its magic, its characters, its illustrations, but also for the aesthetic. To me, the world seems like sunshine and grass and chalk dust and cogs, the elegance of neatly drawn diagrams and the fluidity and motion in the messy ones. You can hear the scratching of chalk on concrete and wood, as well as an ever present ticking and clacking. You smell the chalk and fresh air, and feel the formal cut of a school uniform. There’s a feel that this book captures that I love, and here’s my best representation of it.

    Movie?

Lol for year 7 one of my friends and I did our assignment (making a movie trailer) on The Rithmatist. (It was terrible, but good fun.) I agree that it would make an excellent movie. I know it wasn’t released at the time you made this post, but Snapshot would also make a great movie, imo. (And the film rights have been bought!!) Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians would also be pg, but it probably wouldn’t make a great movie.
  7. Gran Gran definitely has the ability to Sense, but I feel as though it’s weaker than Jason’s was. And this is just me, but I don’t think that she has any other cytonic abilities. A
  8. Thanks for the link! I think last time I checked, the page was linked to itself so I kinda... assumed it was some sort of inside joke? Like it requires you to reason bc it will lead you to the same page... or something. Lol.
  9. I didn’t notice that. That’s a really cool connection.
  10. Wait, I was under the assumption that’this was in the same universe as Defending Elysium, (or however it’s spelled lol.) Has this been refuted? If it is the case, the way it ended was
  11. I read this in one day with my cousin. We read it out loud, alternating chapters. It was really fun. What I loved about it was the way the plot twist(s!) were foreshadowed but I still didn’t get either of them. Just thinking back I could see how each of them were hinted at. In addition, Brandon Sanderson comes up with an idea (recreate one day!) and extends it so that it’s the coolest possible version of that idea. (Serial killer who thinks he’s in a Snapshot, cops who work in a Snapshot, how can Deviations change a person, how best to set up a murder inside a Snapshot). I thought it it was really cool and interesting.
  12. Also, in the Scrivener’s bones dust jacket, it mentions that Brandon has been known to bring swords to weddings. He cut the cake at his wedding with a sword.
  13. I was pretty sure they’d been shattered into the Dor - especially considering timelines. If Mistborn 2 is roughly the same time as Stormlight, and Galladon turned up in The Way of Kings, the Dor was definitely shattered before then. (I’m not certain but I’m pretty sure that he is immortal to some extent and he was with Demoux, who was promised (to Micah DeMoux, the photographer, his namesake) to not die (and get a girl).) Also there’s this quote from Arcanum Unbounded “Autonomy’s policy of isolationism in recent times (in direct contrast to her interference with other planets, I might add)...”
  14. If this Earth is one dimension, and the Reckonersverse another, he is by necessity an extradimentional being. I support the theory he is Calamity.
