  1. Radiants DO have that limitation unless they are drawing the Stormlight directly from a highstorm. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/149-rithmatist-albuquerque-signing/#e2784 https://wob.coppermind.net/events/390-stuttgart-signing/#e12723 Okay, now, in order: The reason I wondered about bone is that although it is a living organ it also has a very large inorganic component, as well as it being the body focus for Talus. I don't just mean hunks of metal contaminated with rock, I mean metal that has reacted with other things to form a mineral and doesn't look metallic, e.g. bauxite, chalcocite, cinnabar, cobaltite, illmenite, pentlandite, pyrolusite, scheelite, uraninite, and wolframite. The restrictions by Honor are a good point I forgot to think of. By Soulcasting something colder, I mean Soulcasting something into something with a lower temperature than the original object, which I figure might be possible since they Soulcast things into fire. I did mean Soulcasting into something at lower or higher pressure than the surrounding atmosphere. Yeah, Soulcasting projectiles would probably be the least efficient way to use Soulcasting in a fight.
  2. I thought that Allomantic Pewter was a general boost to all physical attributes except the senses? I could've sworn that when Vin kept up her pewter for ages while healing, it wasn't just to stay alive so she could heal, but also that burning pewter sped up healing. I also thought that Pewter dragging wasn't just running for a really long time, but running at somewhat superhuman speed for a really long time.
  3. The actual abilities of Division are never made clear. It is said to be some vague force of destruction and decay, and it's been shown both burning and turning things to dust. There's WoB saying that it breaks molecular bonds. The question is, how does it manifest as both fire and decay? Fire is more than just breaking bonds, so how does it do that? I'd suggest that it's using energy from the bonds to raise the heat to regularly start a flame, but that can't be it because the energy released from reactions where we think about bonds being broken is really from the second half where new bonds are formed. It's probably just that the perception of the Surge means that all vague destructive powers are lumped in there as one, but it feels odd for such a power to exist side-by-side with ones that are really just one ability, like Gravitation and Adhesion. I suppose there's already Illumination with its ability to generate sound, but at least that has a slightly more rational explanation in that light and sound are both waves (even if they are different kinds of waves and in different things).
  4. A lot of the Essences have overlap based on how you interpret their descriptions and what state of matter something is in. If someone were to Soulcast something into ice, would that be Lucentia because ice is a crystal or Blood because ice is water? Would steam be Zephyr for transparent gas or Blood for non-oil liquid? Would bone be Sinew for its organic, animal-sourced nature, Talus for stone, or would you need both to create an accurate bone? Do metallic ores without pure metal in them count as Talus or Foil? Would bacterial matter count as Pulp or Sinew? What about viruses? Would plasma be under Spark or under one of Zephyr or Vapor? Could you create any non-oil substance that can possibly be liquid by Soulcasting something with a garnet? If you can Soulcast something into something hotter, like fire, can you Soulcast into something colder, electrically charged, at non-ambient pressure, or even moving? I'm aware the answer, if a certain answer for it even exists, is probably "blah blah perception blah blah" but I still wonder. Could it be that either of the possible Essences would count, or is there something that would tell you for sure? Requiring specific gemstones that correspond with the Essences makes a lot more sense for the much more limited Soulcaster fabrials than it does Surgebinders.
  5. Name: Sparkwrights Spren: Axonspren Axonspren resemble tiny spheres of plum, lilac, and indigo in the Physical Realm. They appear everywhere inhabited, but their size scales with the size of the atoms that cause their manifestation. In the Cognitive Realm, they look like humanoid beings with faintly purple and otherwise stark white skin, bright reddish-purple lips, nails, etc., and similarly bright blueish-purple hair in wild, glowing strands that resemble (but are not) lightning. They are unintelligent even in the Cognitive Realm when unbound due to how rare the knowledge of axi is in modern Roshar. Ideals: First Ideal: Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination. Second Ideal: I will reshape myself into the person who is needed. Third Ideal: I will rebuild what has been destroyed and relearn what has been forgotten. Fourth Ideal: I will invent and innovate anew, lest stagnation begin again. Fifth Ideal: I will leave behind a world better than the one I was born into. Surges: Cohesion & Adhesion Other Characteristics: The Resonance of their surges alters the manifestation of their surges, just as the resonance of Tension and Adhesion (and the raw power of the Stormfather) causes those surges to manifest differently in a Bondsmith than in a Stoneward or a Windrunner. Without the similarly Cognitive nature of Illumination or Transportation to accompany Transformation and with the less Cognitive and more Spiritual nature of the Connection formed by Cohesion, Sparkwrights do not typically consciously see into Shadesmar when Soulcasting, though people like Rock would. Rather, they Connect to their target via their Spiritual aspect without any communication, overcoming the Cognitive aspect of their target with force of will and Stormlight only. This means they take even longer to learn Transformation than it being their clockwise Surge would suggest; however, it also means that once they are practiced enough to make it work, they can more readily Soulcast than all but the most skilled (i.e. Jasnah) of other orders. Without the surge of Tension to alter the flexibility and hardness of material and with the surge of Soulcasting to offer its less physically direct approach to matter, Cohesion is very different for a Sparkwright. Essentially, Cohesion is to them an easier form of Transformation. Rather than demanding that the Cognitive aspect of an object change its Essence(s), you merely change its shape, no physical interaction required. Causing two objects to merge together in this fashion is harder, but not impossible. Separating two things that have come to consider themselves as one is just one step below true Soulcasting.
