About Me

Alleyverse characters:

Spoiler

KoTiel: Deceased

Spoiler

Name: KoTiel (Deceased)

Cause of Death: Over usage of the Dor during a fight burning out their Blessings.

Species: Kandra

Investure: Blessing of Presence, currently wearing the skeleton of a dakhor monk, but is only capable of accessing the passive abilities (enhanced strength, speed and durability). Has a brass spike granting feruchemical zinc, and well as a spike giving DA loyalty.

Appearance: Uses a stone true body (currently dakhor skeleton instead). Has a height of 167 cm (5ft 6in). Alters their appearance based on mood, but tends to have shoulder length black hair and prefers to wear either black or white clothing. Currently using the skeleton of a dakhor monk, but doesn't use the original appearance.

Weaknesses: Has trouble impersonating people. They also don't have a lot of fighting experience, and are incapable of attacking others because of the first contract, and they would only attack in self defense when they have no possible escape route left. After SDW they gained a bit more fighting experience, though still not that much. Their DA loyalty spike gets rid of their pacifism.

Affiliation: Neutral DA

Personality: Tends towards pacifism. They also like to stay in the background, observing people  Is very curious, and enjoys learning new things. Their ability to heal gives them a low sense of self-preservation, though they've learned to be cautious around shardblades. Their DA loyalty spike means that they don't have any real morals anymore, though they aren't actually interested fighting or hurting people, unless it allows them to learn new things.

History: Born as a tenth generation kandra, they received lessons on both shape shifting and impersonating people since birth. However, even with the Blessing of Presence they could never get the hang of impersonating people, so they tended to stay in the Homeland, instead of taking on contracts. Here, they kept studying, trying to become good enough to be able to go on contracts, to no avail. After the Ascension, they finally had the opportunity to leave the Homeland, and decided to go out and explore as much as possible, and see what the world (and humans) are like. Because of their habit of observing people, they eventually discovered a worldhopper, and decided to go out and explore other world themselves.

KanMien:

Spoiler

Name: KanMien

Gender: Shapeshifter, identifies as female

Species: Kandra (Genetically modified to be able to grow hair an nails, and repair broken bones (actual rate is lower than with normal humans, and only works for actual bones, so not for true bodies)

Investiture: Identity wiping blessings (Makes it easier to her to assume a different personality. While this helps with impersonation, it also makes it easy for her to develop  split personalities/behavior sets). Uses a Feruchemical zinc spike to replace the broken spikes she originally inherited from KoTiel.

Appearance: Her appearance varies, but she normally uses a female body. She uses a wooden true body of about 5'4'' tall, and has long, dark-brown hair. She generally wear a business suit that has been modified to be easier to move around with.

Equipment: Wields two handguns she found in an old DA storage room (the guns don't do anything special, they were stored there as outer-cosmere weapons), and tends to carry a large amount of spare magazines in her body. Uses a wooden true body. Carries a prototype Bag of Holding containing a anti-materiel sniper (modified with gravitonics so she can actually sort of handle the recoil) and a grenade-launcher, as well as a large amount of ammunition.

Bag of Holding details:

Spoiler

A recent experiment with alleymatics, this object has its internal dimensions connected to a small, semi-unstable alley. This allows people to store things inside the object even if they wouldn't normally fit inside, with the mass of the objects being masked. Important however is that the object still needs to fit through the bag's opening to be put inside.

Because the object is still highly experimental it still has a lot of downsides. Taking an object out or putting something into it destabilizes the portal for a certain amount of time relative to the mass of the object, making it impossible to use until it stabilizes again. Furthermore, the bag is only capable of holding a limited amount of items, though for some reason the type of item is of influence as well, with the bag only storing a limited amount of types of objects, and for each type of object only a limited amount of it can be stored as well, with the amount decided by the size and weight of the object.

Because of the nature of the alley it isn't possible for living beings to exist in it, and items stored inside don't seem to show any signs of time passing while inside.

Overloading the bag will cause it to spew out all of its contents while also destroying the inner dimension, making it useless.

Fighting style: She use her guns together with her feruchemical zinc to create something similar to gun kata, where she analyzes the stances of her opponents in order to predict the likely paths of their attacks in order to avoid them as well as to increase her accuracy. She also use her zinc to analyze her surroundings and come up with large numbers of strategies and switch between them.

Skills: Gun training, amateur level. While tapping zinc, this level will increase depending on the amount tapped. Intelligence, Intelligent. Again, while tapping zinc, this level will increase depending on the amount tapped. As a Kandra she has a decent knowledge of biology.

Weaknesses:

  • She isn't good at hand to hand combat, since her analysis doesn't work as well at those distances and because she has never received any actual martial arts training. She also can't create good predictions of her enemy's strategies since it isn't something that can be reduced to a physics or statistics problem.
  • Her hemalurgic spikes also allow people with strong enough emotional allomancy to take control of her. Her specific blessings making this easier than for normal Kandra.
  • She has been trying to avoid dependence on KoTiel's personality recently. While this helps stabilize her own personality and lower the effect of her blessings it also means she can't access KoTiel's skills, significantly impacting her skills with shapeshifting.

Personality: Tends to switch between two different personalities (not a case of split personality, see it more as multiple behavior sets), depending on the situation. The first is more soft-spoken, and tends to keep to themselves. She's also very curious in this personality and enjoy discovering new things. Her other personality is a lot harsher to other people and doesn't care much about others, showing little empathy and having no real problem hurting others. The multiple personalities come from the combination of her identity erasure spikes, trying to reconcile their pre-loyalty spike personality with their post-loyalty spike one, and trying to fit in with the other people in the DA. Recently these have started mixing more though as a result of them blocking out KoTiel's personality and memories and having time to start developing her own instead.

Relationships: Considers KoTiel a parental figure to her, though her opinions on them are somewhat complicated. Highly respects Mac and considers him to be her direct superior. Very close to Kumiko, though still trying to figure out how she feels regarding her.

Backstory: She was originally created by KoTiel after KoTiel got a spiritual bomb implanted in them. KoTiel created her by first making a mistwraith and then using essence spikes to erase its identity and transferring their own memories to it. The resulting Kandra decided to take the name KanMien and started to view KoTiel as a parent figure. After KoTiel died during the fight in the Den of Thieves she managed to get KoTiel's spikes and kept them as her inheritance. Not knowing where to go she decided to stay with the DA, although moving away from hemalurgic experiments, instead getting involved with the DoCI.
Later on she found Kumiko wandering through the alleys and decided to take her in, partially on a whim, as well as curiosity regarding her abilities. During the CoTW incident she helped defend the church, later arguing in favor of sanctions in the government debate on the incident. During the Plasmacore incident she helped mediate between the DA and TUBA, later also helping to fight against the invasion force, first by sniping the different monsters released and later fighting one of the Conquerors with a grenade launcher. Afterwards she decided to get rid of KoTiel's spikes, though she still kept them in her quarters as a reminder, and instead got a new Feruchemical zinc spike instead. She also looked into expanding her arsenal to be more useful in combat.

Takamine Kumiko (Epic name: Polygenetic):

Spoiler

Name: Takamine Kumiko

Epic name: Polygenetic

Gender: Female

Age: 18

Appearance: Has a Japanese appearance, and is around 5'2'' tall, with short, dark brown hair. She normally wears a blue sweater and a shorter skirt that's easy to move around in, together with combat boots. She normally also has some type of animal feature incorporated into her body. Generally these are a fox tail and ears. Wears a translator amulet in the form of a necklace.

Powers:

  • Animal Mimicry: When touching an animal she gets the ability to incorporate parts of it's appearance into her own body. When she does so she also gets the abilities of said animal. These abilities are based on the general perception of said animal, and don't need to correspond with the features of the animal she incorporates into her body. For example, including a fish would give her the ability to breath underwater and swim faster, but it still works even if she just changes her skin and adds webbing to her fingers. The abilities an animal gives also don't need to respond to their actual abilities. For example, including a fox or an owl would give intelligence based boosts, while said animals aren't noticeably smarter than other animals. The more well known and accepted a property of an animal is makes it easier for her to use it as well. A single form can be kept up indefinitely, and forms she's accustomed to can be kept up even when unconscious.
This ability also works with sapient non-human beings, but has a time limit in this case, with the form only being usable for a few hours after starting to use it, and the ability to use to form fading after about a day. To regain access to the form she has to make contact with another person of said species. The same also goes for beings created through magic, or having magic, such as through Hemalurgy. Using these forms requires more focus and energy than animal forms.
  • Myth Recreation: With preparation and a large amount of focus she's capable of temporarily upgrading a form, having it take properties from a mythological creature instead which results in more magical abilities. This only works if said creature is made up of animals she has already acquired. For example: If she has acquired a horse and an eagle she can use the forms unicorn (horse) and hippogriff (horse&eagle) but not griffin (eagle&lion), since she doesn't have a lion form. Using this ability will use up a lot of energy, with the amount of energy proportional to the power of the form. Using a form that is too powerful, or using one for too long will also overload her abilities, leaving her without them for a certain amount of time (amount of time depending on strength and duration of use of the form, minimum of one day, maximum can go up to a month for the strongest forms).
  • Animal Calming: Animals are more calm when close to her. This is a passive ability, with a fairly low strength. It generally allows her to get close to animals that would normally run away from or attack humans. It still has limits though, so trying to get close to a trained attack dog that has been ordered to attack her, or trying to get close to a hungry lion would still end badly. It's power also scales inversely to the intelligence of the animal. It doesn't work on beings with human level intelligence, with a Koloss being the maximum level of intelligence that can still be affected, all be it barely. Basically, this ability works by suppressing the instincts of animals, but it has a limit on how much it can suppress these instincts. This ability also only works on normal animals. Beings with a magical nature (like animals with symbiotic spren bonds) aren't affected by this ability, and other abilities affecting animals will override this one.

Weaknesses:

  • She has a spinal cord injury that makes it difficult for her to walk. While it has healed to some degree thanks to copying the abilities of the Phoenix she still can only walk short distances and isn't able to run. Her powers allow her to move around normally, but only while she is using a form. If her powers are ever disrupted she has trouble moving around.
  • Overusing her powers for too long will temporarily disable them, with the duration of them being disabled depending on the level of overuse. Overuse happens when using multiple forms at the same time, using a form based around a sapient being, or using a form that is based around a magical animal.
While overusing her abilities keeping up her forms will cost a large amount of stamina, with the amount depending on how strongly she's using them, and running out will trigger the powers being disabled. Using Myth Recreation will cause her powers to be disabled afterwards regardless of how long she uses the ability.
  • She's still extremely inexperienced with Myth Recreation (not helped by a poor knowledge of mythology), greatly limiting the amount of forms she can use and how much power she can get out of them.
  • She dislikes humans. Generally the only sapient beings she gets along with are non-human ones, and even then it takes a while for her to get along with them. Because of this she's also bad at working together with people, and generally tries to do things alone instead.
  • She has a very poor grasp on the language spoken in the Alleycity and relies on a translator amulet instead.
  • Epic Weakness: Being in a motorized vehicle. About the only vehicles that don't trigger her weakness are bicycles and boats, and even then she only uses them when she absolutely has too. Getting in one will disable her powers, and give her a panic attack. Even bicycles require a lot of willpower to use without having a panic attack, making boats the only vehicles she uses, and even then it's only rarely.

Skills: Intelligence, smart (15). Scholarship, animals, amateur (10). hand-to-hand combat, skilled (30).

Personality: She tends to rely a lot on her instincts, instead of thinking things through, and tends to display more animal-like behavior at times. She also dislikes humans, and sometimes has issues fitting in with normal society. Non-human sapient people tend to make her feel confused, but she's capable of getting along with them. She generally doesn't respect people weaker than her, and tends to live in the moment, not caring about any consequences of her actions. Dislikes being in crowds, and enjoys walking in nature, or empty cities. She's generally regarded as a bit of a problem child.

Relations: Her parents died when she was a kid. Very close to KanMien, though she's still trying to understand exactly what she's feeling about her.

Backstory: When younger she got into a car crash, and the event ended up causing her serious injuries, including a damaged spine, as well as killing her parents. Because of this she ended up staying in the hospital even after recovering, where she spend most of her time reading about animals. When calamity rose she initially stayed in the hospital, till she came along a black cat. Petting it, she found out about her abilities, and that they let her walk again. After this, she ran off and decided to find as many animals as possible. Eventually she found a way into the alleycity, and joined up with the DA after finding one of their members and discovering that they weren't human.
During the CoTW incident she helped defend the church against the attackers.
During the Plasmacore incident she was present during the initial presentation using a disguise, getting out together with the other rookie members when things went south. Afterwards she worked together with Whisper to investigate the building, later entering it when the shield malfunctioned. When the Phoenix attacked she attacked it, fighting with it for a while until something called it away. During the fight she also managed to copy it's abilities, it's regeneration partially healing her spine, but the strain from using myth-recreation knocked her out, causing her to fall unconscious and sit out the rest of her incident in her room recovering.

Alice Fisher (Epic name: Laplace): Retired

Spoiler

Name: Alice Fisher

Epic Name: Laplace

Gender: Female

Age: 35

Appearance: She is about 5'4'' tall, though she seems taller to people. Has shorter light brown hair and dark green eyes that turn violet when she's using her powers. Generally looks rather serious and strict. Wears glasses. For clothing she normally wears the Oxford professor's gown, but with a few modifications to allow for easier movement.

Powers:
    Laplace's Demon:

  • Primary power: Enhanced analytical abilities. This manifests in three different ways, Probability prediction, physics simulation, and pattern analysis.
Probability prediction allows for the analysis of trends from small data sets, allowing for the prediction of possible actions of groups of people, assigning probabilities to each possible action they can take. This works better the larger the group is, and the more data there is available. Predicting the actions of a single individual is much more difficult, even with insight into their personality. Larger groups, on the other hand, tend to average out.
Physics simulation allows for perfectly predicting the outcome of deterministic systems, such as the paths of a group of rocks falling down, or a roulette wheel. This ability requires knowledge of the rules behind the system to work though. Encountering an unknown phenomenon, or an non-deterministic one, makes usage of this ability impossible, and if she is only partially aware of the rules behind the system she can encounter errors in their analysis.
Pattern analysis allows her to take a phenomenon, or a number of incidents, and analyze the pattern behind them, creating a prediction of the rules it is based on. This works in concert with probability prediction and physics simulation, allowing her to establish the necessary rules for these to be able to work. The main issue with this, however, is that the rules she deduces might not be the actual rules that apply to a phenomenon or pattern, which might throw of her predictions by some degree.
This power is a semi-passive ability, with the power normally running subconsciously, with results manifesting as improved intuition, but she can also focus the ability on a specific task, which makes it much more effective, but requires her to consciously know what she's trying to analyze.
  • Secondary power: Area scan. This is an active ability that allows her to perfectly know everything about a 50 meter area centered on her. The issue here is that it isn't possible for her to consciously comprehend all this information, so she's only capable of accessing the positions, motions, and appearances of objects in this region, although she can also access information more specific information like temperature, sound, or specific materials, but this requires her to actually focus on acquiring this information, and on the specific place she wants the information from.
The interesting part about this ability, however, is that her first ability is also capable of making use of this information, but is capable of accessing the full breadth of information, granting what amounts to a pseudo danger sense, though limited to what information can be gathered from inside of the ability's active area (Note that threads don't have to be inside of this area to be noticed, but either this area or what can be perceived with their normal senses must contain the information necessary for the thread to be noticeable).

Skills: Intelligent (-30), Scholarship: Skilled (-30). While she doesn't have any actual combat abilities she'd probably make a decent long range sniper with some training because of her abilities (does this cost any points?).

Epic weakness: Dice. These will create an aura of about 2 meters around them that isn't visible to her Area Scan ability, and actually touching them will also negate her primary ability.

Weaknesses:

  • Her powers rely on the fact that whatever she's analyzing functions on rules. If something isn't based on rules, or if the rules aren't deducible then her powers can't give her any information.
  • Probability analysis can be defeated by making decisions based on random chance, with even something like flipping a coin to decide between to outcomes making her unable to predict the final action (as long as she doesn't see them flip the coin. If she sees them flipping the coin physics simulation will allow them to predict how it will land).
  • She needs to actually need to have data in order to make predictions, meaning that not having access to key data can lead to erroneous predictions. The same goes for actions of unknown third parties.
Note: Previous weaknesses were all oddities in her abilities, and were already taking into account by Voidus when calculating her total ability score.
  • She highly dislikes any form of combat, viewing it as beneath her, and because of this has very little experience in it, so her fights will mostly be her using her abilities to dodge attacks.

Personality: She has a strict, calculating personality, with a firm believe that the mind is much more important than the body, and that she is more intelligent than anybody else, so doing any fighting herself would be demeaning. She tends to have a personal hatred against people who mess up her predictions, and believes that her primary ability is actually her own genius shining through, and not an Epic ability (she's wrong, which she does know to some degree, but doesn't acknowledge).

Backstory: Originally a professor in mathematics at Oxford teaching statistics. She had a reputation for being highly intelligent, but also for being extremely strict and an ego that was much too big. After Calamity they started manipulating the university and town from behind the scenes, officially working as strategist for the local ruler but eventually becoming the de facto ruler. Eventually one of the other Epics in town tried to oust the leader though, and attacked them, defying her predictions at several points, causing them to develop a personal hatred for eachother, and seeing that she was going to lose, she managed to get into the alleyverse, where she managed to find the Jackal and decided to join the Bureau of Villainy.

Affiliation: Jackal/Neutral

Karin Hunter (Epic name: Maxwell): Retired

Spoiler

Name: Karin Hunter

Epic Name: Maxwell

Gender: Female

Age: 23

Appearance: She's 5'6'' tall, with long black hair and grey eyes. She normally wears a t-shirt and jeans, but wears a white lab-coat over them.

Powers:
    Maxwell's Demon:

  • Primary power: Separation of heat and cold. She can take heat from different substances, transferring it into something else. She can do this even when the substances are at thermal equilibrium, or when the substance she's taking heat from is colder than the substance she's transferring the heat to. This ability is much easier to use on gasses, with solids being the most difficult to use this ability on. The lowest temperature a substance can be brought to differs, but for air this is generally around -60°C (-76°F), and for other substances this lowest temperature is generally a lot warmer, with gasses being close to this temperature, fluids being close to -20°C (-4°F), and solids being around -5 °C (23°F), unless their phase will change while their temperature is being reduced, in which case either the lowest temperature for that phase or the current temperature will be the limit, whichever is lower. There isn't any real limit on the maximum heat that can be transferred to a substance, though gasses take less effort and are more useful. In order to transfer the energy the substance needs to be inside of 50 meters of her.
Additional notes: When not using this ability on gasses some time is necessary to gather the focus to use the ability, and both extracting and adding the heat will take time (gasses take time as well, but this is fast enough to seem instant). This also means that this ability doesn't work as an instakill on living beings.

  • Secondary power: Gas manipulation. She's capable of aerokinetic control of gasses, but with the peculiarity that this control takes more effort the closer the gasses are to thermal equilibrium compared to the gasses around them, with anything less than 10°C (18°F) difference from equilibrium being too close to manipulate, and a difference of 40°C (72°F) is necessary for full control, which generally gives the appearance of her manipulating freezing winds and flames/hot winds. Again, her control area for this ability is 50 meters. The controlled air can reach speeds of about 17 m/s, so enough to shake trees but not enough to toss larger/heavier things about, or create significant destruction. She can't compress the air, but are capable of stopping air from expanding or contracting from the sudden changes in heat, which means that if the air is hot enough she can actually use the additional pressure to knock people away, but at these temperatures they'd probably prefer that, since it's more survivable than being in the center of a fireball.

  • Peculiarities: The amount of heat they can put in a hot area is fairly small in the beginning, unless they create a large cold area and then channel all the heat into a small area. However, when heat flows back into cold areas, or from warm areas into the surrounding air, they can use the energy generated during this to increase the amount of heat inside of their hot areas. The increased heat inside of these areas will increase the heat flow, which will also increase the amount of heat generated, creating a compounding effect. This still has limits though, as they aren't immune to the heat and cold themselves, meaning that building up too much heat will kill them, and if the gas changes to plasma they'll lose control over it, causing all the heat to flood back into the general area, causing a large explosion. At the same time, because of their range limits they'll run into trouble if they use their ability for too long, as they'll end up cooking themselves, and they need to watch out when disengaging their ability as the resultant explosion might injure or kill them otherwise. They can also release control over zones they control, causing implosions and explosions because of temperature differentials (they can also use this to create energy, but it is more difficult because of the speed, causing large efficiency losses, generally losing 90% of the heat stored in the zone. This is mainly a method for decreasing the amount of time it takes to build up their temperatures again). If they have a bit of time to focus they can also combine their hot and cold zones to generate energy faster, or manipulate the shape and force of the explosions, this is a more advanced usage that needs training, and can't be improvised.

Skills: Intelligent (-30), Scholarship: Average (-20)

Epic Weakness: Failing to meet a goal she set for herself, or that she accepted from someone else. When this happens her powers will immediately shut down, and the time it takes for them to work again will depend on the importance the goal held for her. This also works for goals she sets herself unconsciously, such as needing to defeat an enemy.
Warning: triggering this weakness is a bad idea when she has been using her powers for a while and you're in the vicinity, since at that point reality tends to reassert itself, which tends to have explosive results.

Weaknesses:

  • She's vulnerable to her own powers, meaning that if she uses them for too long, and compounds the heat too much she can fry herself, or get killed when not releasing the heat properly, which can take a while if it has been building up for too long.
  • She can be rather brash, which means she sets herself goals quickly, which means she has to follow through on them.
  • Hates Laplace, and has defeating her as a goal, meaning that she's willing to sacrifice and/or betray almost anything and anyone to kill her, and can easily be controlled or led into a trap using this.
  • Her powers take a while to get going, meaning that she's stuck with just cold air until she gets a good level of compounding going and her powers become really dangerous.

Personality: Tries to think things through, often loses control quickly, getting enraged or hot-blooded, especially when using her abilities. She doesn't use her abilities often though, or at strong levels, because of the dangers involved, meaning that the Corruption isn't as strong for her. Often sets goals for herself, despite her weakness, since it allows her to motivate herself.

Backstory: Originally went to Oxford where she studied physics, but relied on a scholarship, which meant that she always needed to push herself to reach various goals in order to keep it. When Calamity came she was in her third year, and after living in the Epic controlled town for a while she decided she had enough with it and got together with a few other Epics to take over themselves, in the process ending up picking a fight with Laplace, who she still disliked from before Calamity. Setting herself the goal of defeating her, she followed her to the alleyverse after Laplace went there, and has continued looking for her, having received word that she was working for the Bureau of Villainy.

Aoífe O'Sullivan (Fragarach): Deceased

Spoiler

Name: Aoífe O'Sullivan

Epic Name: Fragarach

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Appearance: 5'4'' tall, ginger, short hair, green eyes. Wears a leather jacket, black jeans and combat boots.

Powers: When wielding a bladed weapon, her physical abilities are improved (a bit weaker than pewter), while the blade gives a limited ability to control wind, as well as having increased cutting power and durability (while better than the weapon normally would be, this isn't anywhere near shardblade level. She could probably cut through a wooden shield or medieval plate armor when using her full strength, but that is the limit). If she places the sword at someone's throat they have to answer any questions she asks them, and they aren't capable of lying.
Exact strength of her abilities (expect for forcing people to speak the truth) depend on the quality of the blade she's holding, with better crafted ones working better. Swords are generally also stronger than knifes, and medieval western style swords (arming sword, long sword, claymore) are more effective than those of other regions.
As for her wind manipulation, while she has a fair degree of freedom with it, she generally uses the following techniques:

  • Create a large area gust of wind (maximum strength low wind power 8). This can either be in a single direction or just circling around her randomly. She can use this to put people of balance. It takes about 1 second to create a single gust, getting a large scale continuous wind going takes about 5.
  • Create smaller, focused gusts of wind in order to propel herself forwards, jump higher or break her fall. These gusts can be created in less than half a second.
  • Circle air around herself. This wind makes it hard for projectile weapons to stay on course, functioning as something like a steel bubble, but works only on smaller caliber projectiles (pistol and sub-machine ammo, so assault rifles and snipers will just lose some accuracy). Getting one of these shields going takes about 3 seconds. Can be dismissed to to create one of her large area gusts, but as an AoE centered on her.
  • Focus the wind on her blade. This basically creates a small whirlwind around her blade, creating a field around it that allows it do deflect bullets and other projectiles coming into contact with it. Getting this going takes about 5 seconds, and while it's active it makes moving the blade around more difficult, making it harder to use. The shell is large enough to cover her silhouette when held vertically in front of her.
  • Launch blades of air. This requires her to swing her weapon in the direction she wants it to go, with the force of the swing correlating to the speed and force of the projectile, while the size of the blade controls the size of the projectile. These will lose power the further they travel, and will lose the ability to harm things once they've reached about 10 meters. Cutting power of the projectiles correlates to that of the blade used to launch it. This ability also requires her to have an air shell around her blade, and consumes the shell.

Of these techniques only one can be used at the same time. While the winds are strong and more complex techniques are possible, she doesn't have a lot of fine control over the winds, and so isn't capable of doing complex things like manipulating objects with them.

Skills: Decent sword and knife fighter, knows a bit about Irish myth. Amateur at unarmed fighting.

Equipment: Keeps a few hidden switchblade knifes on her at all times. Normally also carries a long sword on her back if she can get away with it.

Weaknesses:

  • Epic weakness: Being called a dog, or puppy. This disables her powers for a few minutes.
  • Her abilities require her to hold a bladed weapon weapon to work, meaning that disarming her will rid her of all her abilities.
  • Favors head-on approaches, often not considering things like tactics.
  • Blood-knight. Enjoys fighting, and will often fight people stronger than her. Doesn't mind putting herself in a disadvantaged position in order to make a fight more fair, or often doesn't finish off opponents in order to be able to fight them again when they're stronger.

Personality: Loves fighting, especially against strong opponents. Otherwise she tends to be rather serious and business-minded while on a job, but boisterous and outgoing otherwise. Rather quick-tempered, is bad at handling money, often leading to her needing to take on rather problematic jobs to get by.

History: When younger she was interested in stories about ancient heroes, and got into sword-fighting because of them. Here, she turned out to be quite talented, but also earned the nicknames of 'dog' and 'puppy', because of how she talked about old irish myths, specifically Cú Chulainn. When Calamity came she found out about her powers, and ended up working as a mercenary for various Epics, often hired to do interrogations. At some point she ended up in the alleyverse, where she decided to keep working as a mercenary (since she needed money) and established a reputation as a competent fighter, and sometimes being hired for doing interrogations as well.

Affiliation: Neutral, mercenary.

Gender: Female
Appearance: 5'2'', with long black hair and brown eyes. Normally wears a black pants with a grey hoodie that seems to be a few sizes to big. She has a number of scars hidden away under her cloths.
Powers: Presence Manipulation
This ability can make people pay more or less attention to her, as well as giving them the idea she is in a different location, or give the idea she/projected presence is someone else.
Hiding her presence works similar to the Grey Men from WoT, with roughly the same level of effectiveness. Its effectiveness varies depending on the sense used to perceive her though. Hearing or seeing her doesn't do much, but her smell is still noticed and can make someone pay more attention to her, though it's generally not enough to break the ability if she doesn't do anything too suspicious. Direct physical contact will immediately break the ability though, and will make them fully aware of her. Highly unusual actions, like firing guns or yelling will also seriously weaken the ability. This ability is also a lot less effective on people who were already aware of her when the ability activated.
Increasing her presence will make people around her focus on her, and draw their attention away from other things. When used with less strength it will simply make people notice her unconsciously, making her stand out more.
Projecting her presence will make people think she is at the projected location instead of her actual location. If the person in question is already aware of the her location it will only function as a distraction, disorienting the person in question. Also, if they actually see the location the presence is projected to it'll immediately fail as they realize there's nobody there, unless they think there is someone invisible around. An interesting quirk of this is that by quickly projecting her presence at different locations close to herself she can make it harder for people to know her exact location, disorienting people looking at her and making it harder to hit her with ranged weapons.
Disguising her presence makes people think she's someone else. This ability fails when someone pays actual attention to her though, since actual inspection would show them that she is somebody else. The closer she looks like the person who's presence she's using the less likely it is for the effect to fail. This ability can also be used in conjunction with projecting her presence, making people think it's someone else who's at the location the presence is projected to.

Notes:

  • It is possible for her to simultaneously hide her presence and project it.
  • Only one presence can be projected at the same time, though the presence can be re-projected at high speeds (about 0.15 seconds).
  • The range for projecting a presence is limited to locations either within line of sight or within 30 meters of her if she is aware of the location.
  • She can sense how much attention people are paying her, and is thus aware of it when someone breaks her ability.
  • If someone breaks her ability only the person in question notices her. Everyone else affected by the ability will still be affected, but the person not affected can tell the others about her, breaking the ability for them as well.
  • If someone has broken their ability reusing it will still make the ability apply to them again. Generally the ability would break again immediately (creating the disorientation/mirage trick with presence projection by continuously distracting them with new presences) but if the person who broke it didn't really pay any attention to her anyway it can successfully re-apply itself (for example, if someone bumped into her on the street and ignored her the ability could be applied again).

Skills: Assassination (Expert), Melee Weapons (Skilled, limited to knives, also includes throwing knives).

Equipment: A large number of hidden knives.

Epic Weakness: Feeling trapped, normally triggered by someone grabbing her wrists or restraining her, but other triggers can occur as well.

Weaknesses: Dislikes fighting and killing, she'll try to avoid combat unless she feels like she has no choice. She's also fairly shy and has trouble dealing with crowds. She has psychological issues related to her backstory, and if she feels trapped or threatened she can snap, having mental breakdown.

Guild: Church of the Whiterose.

Family: Parents and uncle, all deceased.

Personality: She tends to be somewhat quiet and shy, but likes caring for others, especially children. Has a dislike for fighting, and is aware of the psychological issues she has, and is trying to overcome them, while also trying to atone for the killing she did when she was younger. Both of these are why she enjoys caring for children.
When using her powers her emotions fade away. She personally has the idea that the more she hides her presence the more her emotions disappear as well. Her motivations stay though, and certain strong emotions can stay as well (specifically her fear of being trapped).
Likes being in open places.
Dislikes other people seeing her scars.

History: She grew up with abusive parents, learning quickly not to draw attention to herself. With the only person she liked a mysterious uncle who came by every once in a while. When she turned seven Calamity appeared, and one of the rampaging Epics killed her parents, and she survived only because of her own abilities manifesting. Her uncle took her in afterwards, but was only interested in her ability. It turned out that he was an assassin, and he started training her as well, eventually turning her into a skilled killer, having her serve as his tool and hiring out her services.
Eventually when she got older she managed to befriend a local girl. However, her uncle found out, and scared that she might betray him he kidnapped the girl, and tried to force Shade to kill her, engaging her weakness in the process. With the encouragement from the girl she managed to snap out of it and kill her uncle instead, overcoming her weakness. Her uncle still fatally wounded the girl though, and when she died Shade didn't know what to do, simply wandering about until she arrived in the alleyverse, where she ended up at the guild, deciding to stay in the hope that she might find a way to escape from her past, as well as a way to atone for all the people she killed.

Karin Dreier (Eldritch):

Spoiler

Name: Karin Dreier

Epic Name: Eldritch

Gender: Female

Age: 20 (looks 15 because of her abilities)

Appearance: 5'1'' tall, with an unhealthily pale skin, black eyes and long black hair. When actively using her abilities her skin gains a tar-like appearance. Normally wears a long sleeveless black dress made of an unidentifiable substance (actually made from her own body using shapeshifting). Someone paying close attention will notice she normally doesn't breath except when talking, and she doesn't have a heartbeat either.

Non-human physique: Her body is made up of an unknown organic substance which gives her access to a number of abilities.

  • Physical enhancement. This mainly improves her speed and agility, not her strength, and is on a similar level as the enhancement supplied by stormlight.
  • Enhanced reflexes. Her reflexes are about twice as good as those of regular humans.
  • No need for breath.
  • No need for sleep.
  • Regeneration. Her regeneration is a bit slower than that of stormlight and isn't capable of healing shardblade damage. However, the way her body works does mean she can detach or reabsorb cut limbs and regrow them. Additionally, her ... unique physical structure means that having her spine cut doesn't kill her, though it'll kill a large part of her body.
Whenever a wound is being regenerated a tar-like molluscoid matter will cover the wound or grow in the shape of the missing limb and then revert back to her normal skin-color.
Relies on stored mass to work.
  • Limited shapeshifting. While she can't alter her appearance or the nature of her body she's capable of detaching, absorbing and twisting her limbs, as well as growing tentacles from exposed skin. She can also use this to create clothing, though this clothing doesn't allow her to grow tentacles from it and is somewhat limited in complexity, generally limiting her to dresses and similar clothing.
Relies on stored mass to work.

Abilities: Her powers have mutated her body into it's current state. She also has an ability that allows her to store matter in a pocket dimension, which she needs for her shapeshifting and regeneration. She can still use those abilities without having matter stored up but it requires her to use her own body instead. She can only store up to 40kg, and any additional matter she absorbs simply vanishes. She normally absorbs matter through eating but she can also absorb parts of her body or secrete acid from her tentacles to slowly digest and absorb whatever she's touching (this takes a while, and isn't really usable in combat).

Skills: Hand to hand, skilled. Smart. Scholarship (molecular biology), amateur.

Epic weakness: Extreme temperatures. Any wounds inflicted by low or high enough temperatures (liquid nitrogen, fire) doesn't heal and needs to be detached or reabsorbed to be healed.

Weaknesses:

  • Her regeneration and shapeshifting are limited to the amount of mass she has stored up. If she uses too much of it she'll need to retreat to get more, and have to deal with the fact that her healing and shapeshifting won't work anymore.
  • She's missing a large amount of her memories, and doesn't remember anything except a few vague flashes of memory from the period between when she got her abilities and when she turned up in the alleyverse.
This means that she isn't capable of accessing most of her skills and doesn't have a lot of experience with her abilities, though it's possible for her to access them when going by pure instinct.
  • Dislikes showing off her abilities, especially her shapeshifting, and tries to use it as little as possible.

Family: Has a younger brother and sister as well as her parents. She doesn't know if they're still alive.

Personality: Tends to appear rather laid-back when not doing anything, often joking around with people. When she's actually doing something she tends to get rather energetic though, often appearing much more focused. Both of these are somewhat of a facade though, and behind them she's quite serious, analyzing everything that goes on around her. While she tries to hide it her missing memories affect her a lot, and the topic tends to make her rather uncomfortable. She believes there's a reason her memories are missing, and beliefs that getting them back will be dangerous to her, but she still feels a need to get them back.
Finds that she enjoys science, especially biology, though she finds the other DA researchers somewhat disturbing and doesn't really like a some the things the DA does. Dislikes criminals and those who prey on people weaker than them, and tends to try and stop them.
She doesn't care much about the big picture normally, instead focusing on helping a single person, without caring about the larger consequences.
Sometimes she feels like something is causing her to do certain things, and she always has a faint impression something is missing.

History: Isn't aware of most of her past, but remembers living a normal life with her family up until she was 15, at which her memories cut out. She still has a few memories of herself fighting, though with much more power than she can now. At one point she woke up in the alleyverse missing most of her memories, and was taken in by the DA's bioscience department, though she normally doesn't spend much time there, wandering through the alleyverse instead. During the Plasmacore incident she was told to stay in the alleys however, and isn't fully aware of everything that transpired during the event, such as Aylitha appearing and using an appearance similar to hers. Recently the department head gave her the suggestion that she might be interested in investigating the newly discovered cavern system, so she decided to join up with the ACE.

Affiliation: DA, bioscience department.

Theme song: Delain, Danse Macabre.

Spoilers for Karin's identity in the following section. The character outlined below will only exist in the alleys while Sudiov's nerfs are active, so they don't need to be scored.

Spoiler

Name: Aylitha

Gender: Doesn't fully apply, but goes by female for undisclosed reasons

Age: Doesn't apply, though her human form looks around 13.

Species: Eldritch abomination

Appearance: Generally appears as a human-sized fox with pitch-black fur or a human with an appearance similar to Karin, though shorter (4'7'') and a few years younger.

Abilities: Her body is made up out of the same cells as Karin's, though they can be much more specialized. She can also fully alter her body's shape. Her cells (and to some extent her entire body) function as gateways to an alternate universe, allowing her to transfer mass between them. Her main intellect also exists in this dimension, which allows her to have multiple bodies at once. She also doesn't have any real limits to the amount of mater she can transfer from her own universe into the one her body resides in, and while she does have limits to the amount of mater that can be transferred at once she can still cover an entire city in her growths in under an hour, though the speed at which she can eat things is much lower (though reabsorbing her own mater happens at the same rate as creating it)
She can also insert her cells into other living organisms to mutate their bodies, both to turn them into things similar to herself (which she can then place under her own control if she wants to) or simply rearranging their DNA and cells. This process takes time however.

Skills: Mastermind. scholarship (molecular biology), expert.

Weakness: Her main body is incapable of leaving the alleys while Sudiov's nerfs are in effect, and any bodies she does create are limited to the abilities Karin has.

Personality: Highly enjoys science and biological experiments. Generally doesn't pay much attention to the world outside the alleys, though that has been changing recently. Doesn't care about humans, only caring about those they consider interesting. She sometimes does show a surprising amount of humanity though. Hostile to people they consider evil, though their definition of evil can be strange sometimes.

History: A bizarre being that at one point found itself crossing paths with the alleys. Intrigued by this strange existence she decided to investigate, and ended up joining, seeing it as a good place to continue her research, eventually spawning and leading the bioscience department. Recently she decided to create Karin as an experiment with offshoots, using a personality she had absorbed before coming to the alleys as a basis and granting the offshoot significant autonomy. Recently she has started interacting with the rest of the DA again, and she started getting more curious about the outside world as well thanks to the Plasmacore incident. Because of this she decided to get the Karin offshoot more involved in what is going on outside, telling them to help investigating the newly discovered cavern system under the city.

Affiliation: DA, bioscience department head.

Theme song: Madame Macabre, God Syndrome. Yuki Kajiura, Sis Puella Magica

Hazel Blackmore (Vita):

Spoiler

Name: Hazel Blackmore

Epic Name: Vita

Gender: Female

Age: 17

Appearance: 5'1", somewhat scrawny. Her eyes lack pupils and irises and she generally keeps them closed. Wears a dark grey hoodie, jeans and a small backpack that looks remarkably heavy for it's size. Normally has longer dark-blonde hair. Always wears either earbuds or headphones. Wears a set of leather gloves.

Abilities (Epic):

  • Lifesense:
She can sense living beings around her, with the range depending of the strength/size of the being. Aside from their location she can also sense how they look and how they're standing, though this becomes more difficult at larger ranges. She can also sense how invested beings are, at least to some extent, but this behaves more like Breath-based lifesense, without the ability to actually tell the type of Investure.
Sapient beings are the easiest to sense, and she can sense those at a bit under a mile away, though her view is vague at that distance, only giving a rough indication of location and general number of beings there. Non-sapient beings are harder to sense, and the range is lower for them, though the range is also based on their size, and there's an exception for extremely large or invested beings. For example, a two mile tall giant or something like the Phoenix would be sensed from a greater distance than humans would be sensed.
She can also focus this ability, concentrating it on a specific area. Some of this happens automatically, filtering out unnecessary information, instead focusing on her immediate surroundings, but she can also deliberately do this, which allows her to see much more sharply in that area. Doing this makes it impossible to sense anything outside the area focused on though.
She can also use this ability to sense microbial life, allowing her to get a rough idea of where larger objects closer around her are (general range tends to be around 20 meters, depending on size and concentrations of microbes). Specifically focusing on an area allows her to find smaller objects as well, but the range for this is much smaller, generally only around a meter at maximum.
Actually touching a living being greatly increases her resolution, allowing her to observe the biological processes going on in whoever she's touching, the locations of their bones and organs, if they have any illnesses or injuries, etc. The level of detail is high enough that her mind subconsciously sees it as her own body though, making it difficult to hurt whoever she's touching directly.
Beings whose biology significantly differs from that of normal humans appear differently on her life-sense, allowing her to differentiate different species.
  • Biokinesis:
She can alter the bodies of anybody she touches. These changes can be minute, simply adjusting small parts of their biology, to things like healing large injuries. It does have some limits though. For one thing, she actually needs to touch whoever she's working on since otherwise she can't see what she's doing. Further more, actually using the ability to create additional biomass is time-consuming and difficult, so if she wants to add mass she generally needs to find a different source, meaning that something like regenerating a limb would require her to have the target eat much more than normal, and then spreading out the healing over multiple sessions to allow the target to regain their mass.
On the other hand, it is possible for her to convert one type of organic material into another, as long as they're part of the same organism. Removing mass is also much easier, since she can just cut it off or disperse it in some other way.
Doing modifications takes time though, depending on what she's trying to do. Interestingly smaller, more localized changes actually more difficult, since it requires her to first locate and analyze whatever it is she's changing. Even then, even something like closing a large cut can take a few seconds. Using her powers destructively goes much quicker, since she doesn't need to care about actually doing things properly, but this has its own issues. This is because using her biokinesis requires her to use her lifesense, but the way she senses the other body is complete enough that to her mind it's part of her own body. This means that damaging someone else's body is extremely difficult, since mentally it's the same as trying to injure herself. Similarly, this also makes it impossible for her to kill people this way.
Using this ability on herself is possible as well, but requires focusing inwards with her Lifesense, meaning she becomes effectively blind.

Biological enhancements: (this area can be cut if it will put her over the points limit)

  • Reduced need for sleep. Her body doesn't require any sleep. Her mind does still require it though, meaning that she still needs to sleep every few days. If she goes without sleep for longer than that the mental effects of sleep deprivation will start setting in.
  • Improved stamina. She can run and exercise for much longer than normal people, reaching the same point as trained athletes.
  • Immunity for most diseases and toxins. Non-organic toxins like mercury will still work though.
  • Reduced pain-sensitivity. While she still feels pain she can handle much larger amounts than normal people can while still being able to focus, sitting at a similar level as trained military personnel.
  • Improved physical abilities. Her speed and reaction-times are at a similar level to that of a trained martial artist. They're still at human levels though, just at the higher end of what humans are capable of.

Skills: Melee weapons, Average (35), Scholarship, biology, Average (20), Parkour, Skilled (not sure what point count this is?)

Equipment: Has a set of balisong (butterfly knives) hidden up her sleeves, as well as a number of throwing knives in different pockets. Her backpack also contains a number of them, together with taser, a blackjack and an extendable stunbaton. Also has a number of syringes with sedating agents in her backpack. Has a pair of reading glasses with a build-in camera and text-to-speech program, allowing her to read things, as well as a voice-operated phone. Wears earbuds or headphones that are always playing music. Also carries a number of emergency batteries for her phone, glasses and earbuds.

Epic Weakness: Sensory deprivation triggers her weakness. This can also be partially triggered by taking away only one of her senses, weakening her abilities, with her senses of hearing and touch being the most important. This is also why she's always wearing something that plays music, and not hearing anything tends to make her rather nervous and stressed out, compounded by the fact that her Lifesense also weakens. Losing her sense of touch can actually send her into a panic attack, especially if she also loses her sense of hearing, and the combination is generally enough to completely negate her powers, unless there's another external sensation she can hold onto like strong smells.

Weaknesses:

  • She completely blind, and relies on her Lifesense to perceive the world. While this normally allows her to live a somewhat normal life it does still cause significant disabilities since anything that uses light to transmit information (electronic devices, written text) still isn't usable, while in fights she needs to deduce what an opponent is doing by observing their stance or through what's happening to airborne microbes around her, which isn't always extremely accurate, especially if she needs to focus on larger areas.
  • The fact that her mind subconsciously treats the body of whoever she's touching as her own body means that it's extremely difficult for her to hurt them, especially using her powers, since her mind sees it as self-harm, or, in case of killing someone, as committing suicide. This also means that even if she does manage to overcome the mental blocks in question doing it would do a large amount of damage to her mind, with any serious damage being enough to make her seriously ill, including inducing vomiting, while killing people she's directly touching generally making her go catatonic.
Similarly, having someone she's touching get killed through different sources can be rather distressing to her, though not enough to do anything more than upset her.
This is made even worse by the fact the only time she did this she was still a kid, and under a great deal of stress, which caused her to be even more hesitant of doing this, and the thought of doing it is enough to make her nauseous.
  • Having injured people nearby distresses her, since triggers her power's sympathetic part to some degree, giving her an instinctive need to heal people. While she can resist this, especially when her mind is occupied with something else, it does distress her when she's calm.

Personality: Tries to keep other people at a distance, and is afraid of getting familiar with people. Has trouble with interacting with other people. Quickly gets attached to people who do manage to get close to her though. Has a tendency to lash out at people when she's stressed, sometimes even attacking them. Has instinctive need to heal people, which she rather dislikes since the sensation tends to be distressing, meaning that she prefers to stay away from places with injured people. Hates being in disinfected areas, since it limits her sight. Has abandonment issues. Normally always has at least some form of music playing, or making noise in some way or another. Hates being in an environment without sound. Has a habit of doing tricks with her butterfly knives as a nervous tick.

Family: Doesn't know the state her parents back on earth. Sees Ayltiha as an adoptive parent.

Backstory: Originally born on Reckoners Earth with a birth defect that left her blind, which left somewhat of a strain on her relationship with her parents. She was still a kid when Calamity rose, and she ended up being accidentally abandoned during the initial panic. After a few hours passed her parents didn't return for her though, so she concluded they had abandoned her and wouldn't come back for her, so she slowly started wandering around. At the same time her Lifesense also started activating, which increased her fear and confusion. Eventually she accidentally wandered into the Alleys, accidentally coming across an abomination. Her panic somehow allowed her powers to kill it, but the effect on her mind made her go catatonic.
Eventually Aylitha came across her, finding her in a nearly dead state, and deciding to take her in. In the end she ended up raising her for the next 12 years, with Hazel coming to see her as a new parent. During this time she lived with the Bioscience department, but she didn't study a huge amount of biology, and tended to stay away from the labs because of their sterile environments. When she turned 16 she decided to move to Acquisitions, though she's still trying to figure out if she'll stay there.

Guild: Da, Acquisitions (formerly Bioscience)

Theme Song: Delain, See Me in Shadows. Combat songs: A-One, Adequate. Within Temptation, Where is the Edge.

Mari (GB side-plot):

Spoiler

Name: Mari

Age: 17

Gender: female

Appearance: 5'4'' tall with short dark brown hair and brown eyes. Has a visible Terris heritage. Looks rather boyish. Wears plain black attire similar to a boy's school uniform.

Investure: Iron compounder/ferring

Skills: Hand to hand, skilled. Assassination, amateur.

Fighting style: Uses weight shifts to enhance her mobility by starting a movement while heavy and then decreasing her weight to increase her speed. Similarly, she increases her weight when attacking to impart additional momentum and force to her movements.

Weaknesses:

  • Hates killing. She'll only kill those specifically designated as targets and will try everything she can to find a solution that doesn't involve killing.
  • Her social skills are rather poor, making it hard for her to explain to others how she feels about something, or understanding how other people are feeling.

Personality: Has a rather no-nonsense personality, and dislikes getting close to people. When on a job she tries her best to get it done as fast as possible with as little collateral damage as possible. Dislikes her work as an assassin, but ends up staying anyway because she figures that she can accomplish at least some good this way, and because she's scared of her life changing again if she'd leave.
Tends to apologize to her targets before killing them.
Doesn't allow herself to express much emotion, especially when fighting.

History: Originally from Scandrial her family managed to somehow come to the alleyverse, but a few months after she was born her parents got on the bad side of some influential people and a ghostblood assassinated them. Seeing Mari they decided to take her in, raising her. When they found out about her powers they started training her as a Ghostblood as well. While she is aware of the fact that her parents were killed she doesn't know that the person who took her in was the one who did it, believing them to just be a random person who happened to find her.

Guild: Ghostbloods

Era 5 characters (Fatebreaker universe):

Spoiler

KanMien:

Spoiler

Name: KanMien

Gender: Female

Species: Kandra

Investure: Iron Feruchemy Blessings. Decay and flawed creation methods lowered the efficiency to about 85% for both storing and tapping. Furthermore, improper construction makes them flawed as Blessings, making it easier for emotional Allomancy to control her.

Appearance: She uses a true body of about 5'4'' tall, and has long, dark-brown hair. When expecting combat she normally wears a business suit covering a bullet-resistant soft vest (can stop small calibre handgun bullets and shrapnel, but not much else). Otherwise she tends to go with a more casual shirt and jeans, the look somewhat ruined by the two revolvers she tends to have on her.

Equipment: Polymer skeleton coated in iron. Two heavy-calibre revolvers (roughly similar to a .44 Magnum) made from a aluminium-alloy (the lower weight causes recoil issues, and requires her to be tapping iron while firing, while the lower suitability of the aluminium-alloy means they need more maintenance. ). Also owns a large aluminium-alloy rifle, similarly chambered for large-calibre bullets.

Skills: Intelligence, Smart (15), Projectile weapon training, Average (45).

Weaknesses:

  • Flawed blessings make it easier for emotional allomancy to control her, and she has developed the instinctive reaction to forcefully knock herself out if she feels strong amounts of emotional allomancy aimed at her.
  • While a decent strategist she has a habit of simply rushing into things, relying on her healing and Kumiko's support to deal with things.
  • Her young age means she has little experience with shapeshifting, with appearance changes taking a long time, and being incapable of imitating people (courtesy of KoTiel training her). Her ability at healing herself is decent, but somewhat underwhelming compared to Investure-based healing, or the healing rates some of the more skilled Kandra are capable of.
  • The recoil on her guns require her to be tapping iron while firing, since otherwise the recoil will be way to high, and can even break her arms if she isn't careful (especially because she's stupid enough to dual-wield .44 revolvers made out of metal that's way too light).

Personality: Easy-going with a lot of self-confidence, can sometimes come across as a bit cocky. Can be a bit immature at times. Hates losing. Really dislikes Hemalurgy, including her own spikes. Dislikes innocent people getting hurt, and tries to avoid collateral damage, but has no issue killing opponents. Sometimes falls into the role of having to reign in Kumiko though whenever she's taking things too far, and dislikes causing unnecessary suffering to people she's fighting, unless they really ticked her off (Hemalurgists and those controlling constructs using emotional allomancy).
Tends to joke that as a Kandra she's legally obliged to dislike people with emotional allomancy.
Feels most of the older Kandra she's met are kind of stuffy and boring, or overly serious, though she has expressed an interesting in meeting MeLaan after hearing stories about her.

Relations: Considers KoTiel to be a parent figure to them. Currently in a relationship with Kumiko.

History: Created by a group of rogue Hemalurgists, she spent the first year of her life with them, though she doesn't remember much of this, aside from the fact that she didn't like it much. After a year KoTiel found the place though, and ended up dealing with the Hemalurgists, saving KanMien and taking her in, raising her and taking her with them across the Cosmere, and even on a few trips to an earth, where she got her current skeleton. After about a decade they came across Kumiko during their travels, and took her in as well, since she didn't have anywhere to go or any knowledge about the world she was on. After a while Kumiko and KanMien ended up in a relationship, and they ended up living together in the Alleycity, and when KoTiel ended up leaving to continue traveling they ended up staying behind, joining TUBA.

Guild: TUBA

Theme song(s): Sons of Amon - God Mode

Takamine Kumiko:

Spoiler

Name: Takamine Kumiko

Epic Name: Kitsune

Gender: Female

Age: 18

Appearance: Has a Japanese appearance, and is around 5'2'' tall, with short, dark brown hair. Wears a white and red shrine maiden outfit when out for official business, otherwise wears assorted kimonos. Tends to have a fox tail and ears.

Epic Powers:

  • Foxfire:
Her primary ability. She can conjure Investure in the form of blue-purple flames and manipulate them. These flames aren't actually capable of burning things though, and aren't hot, and instead have the ability to burn away Investure. This works the best on kinetic Investure, innate Investure being both difficult and time-consuming. Actually burning something by simply projecting the flame in the air takes a lot of energy though, and is difficult, so generally it's easier for her to simply seal the flames into an object, focusing its power and allowing her to use the object in question as something similar to a Shardweapon, though somewhat weaker, but with the ability to cut through Kinetic investure as well, allowing her to use the weapon (or the raw flame) as something similar to Allomantic Chromium, though without the ability to burn away metals, and projected flames burn much slower than Chromium, requiring 10 times the time Chromium would take, though when infused in a weapon it can burn quicker.
Imbued cutting weapons move through objects without actually interacting with them, just as regular Shardblades, unless the Foxfire isn't strong enough to properly cut through it.
While a weapon imbued with Foxfire can cut through most inanimate objects just as easily as a Shardblade can, certain tough enough objects/materials (thick rock, high-quality armour) are capable of resisting and blocking the weapon, though it does damage them. It also doesn't have the strength to properly cut through someone's soul, and instead disrupts it, temporarily paralysing the limb (or the whole body, when cutting through the spine). The duration of this depends on how much Foxfire she puts into the cut, as well as the amount of Innate Investure someone has, averaging at about an hour. While the effect is active Foxfire will be visible along the cut. Investure-based healing can quickly get rid of this effect for much less Investure than it would cost to restore Shardblade cuts, or even severed limbs.
When she's burning her Innate Investure the power of her Foxfire gets boosted significantly. Projected Foxfire becomes actually useful and can burn things away at a distance, though still taking a few seconds, depending on the amount used. Weapons with Foxfire imbued in them will do much greater damage when cutting and stabbing things, with the damage spreading outwards similar to what Nightblood does, though the actual level of power is a fair bit lower, with the effect normally extending out for about 25 centimetres.
She can also control if a flame burns a specific thing or not, though this takes focus.
Any Investure burned away by the flames can be used to fuel her own abilities, though some power gets lost during the absorption.
  • Improved physical abilities:
She can surround herself with her flame to improve her own physical abilities, though this flame isn't capable of destroying Investure like her Foxfire is, though if she wants to she can use it to burn up part of her own Innate Investure, which can drastically boost her powers for a bit, but with the down-side of long-term damage or even death.
This boost behaves in the same way as stormlight does for a Surgebinder, enhancing her speed and granting her a healing factor. This healing factor also allows her to regenerate her Innate Investure, as long as she has some left and isn't currently burning it, but this takes a long time, even with external sources available, especially since burning away her Innate Investure significantly weakens her abilities afterwards until it is restored again (degree of weakness depends on how much was burned away).
Normally the degree of enhancement is roughly the same as with Surgebinders, but if she wants to she can decrease the boost to save power for using her Foxfire, or for longer endurance, and she can also increase the boost in return for quicker energy consumption and lower efficiency (the lower efficiency creates a soft ceiling on her boost when she isn't burning her Innate Investure, with the ceiling being about 3 times the Stormlight boost, though efficiency issues at this point have her burning through Investure at somewhat ridiculous rates).
Note that her healing has lower efficiency and speed than that of Surgebinders, so she tries to avoid taking damage whenever possible.
  • Barriers (This will get cut if the point count is too high):
She can create flame-like barriers. These barriers are normally very weak though, with low energy efficiency, similar to projecting her Foxfire (they aren't even capable of fully blocking bullets, though they can slow them down or alter the course to lower the odds of fatal injuries, similar to a weak steel bubble). However, embedding it into something can increase the efficiency a lot. When she infuses it into something she can create a barrier in the path of the object, which then stays behind for a few seconds, or manifest the barrier on the surface of an object, though that requires her to constantly fuel it.
She normally using this ability to create barriers in the wake of her sword to deflect ranged attacks, or on her shoes to create temporary barriers beneath her feet so she can jump in mid-air. She can't move barriers created through imbued objects.
When burning her Innate Investure her barriers become much stronger, with even projected barrier flames being capable of withstanding explosions. She can also fire off barrier flames from imbued objects in this state, which allows her to perform ranged cuts.
  • Basic shapeshifting:
She can hide her ears and tail, though they come out automatically when she uses her other powers.
  • Important Notes:
She isn't actually capable of providing the energy for her abilities herself, and needs outside sources instead. She is capable of building up a small stockpile by absorbing Investure through food, but this is inefficient, and the stockpile while only let her use her abilities at normal level for less than a minute. To be able to use her abilities normally she needs to carry an external supply with her, such as Stormlight infused gems.
Furthermore, any Investure she absorbs this way fades away after about 5 minutes, no matter how much it was, though she can burn through it faster than that, and when she absorbs additional Investure it gets its own timer. This means she needs to carefully judge how much Investure she absorbs each time, to make sure she has enough power to deal with the situation, while avoiding burning through large amounts of her supply and wasting it. This also means she needs to take the time to take out the Stormlight gems she wants to use, and focus on them, since she can't select a specific amount while they're still in her purse/bag.

Equipment: A katana.

Skills: Intelligence, Smart (15), Melee combat training (Kendo), Average (35).

Epic Weakness: Killing people. (Letting people die through inaction doesn't trigger this. Thinking she has killed someone but being wrong does trigger it. Killing someone by accident weakens her, but doesn't leave her completely powerless.)

Weaknesses: Slow at coming to trust people, and often expects the worst of them. Has a tendency of extending fights if she considers the other side evil in the hopes of making them suffer more, but this can leave her open to running out of power, or letting the other side escape.

Personality: Hides her feelings when around people she doesn't trust, which are most of them. Tends to be very serious, and can be quite cruel to those she judges evil, and while she can revise that judgement based on circumstances, she is slow to do so, and isn't actually always interested in doing so, being more interested in hurting someone and making herself feel better than actual justice. Often needs KanMien's help to remind her to slow down a little, and to get her to trust someone. Tends to focus more on punishing people than helping people.
Is uncertain how she feels about her ears and tail.

Relations: Parents died when she was younger. Later taken in by KoTiel and KanMien. Currently lives with KanMien, who she is in a relationship with.

History: When she was younger her parents were killed when someone robbed their house, and she ended up killing the robber in self-defence, the event traumatizing her, especially the feeling of killing people. When she was 15 Calamity appeared, and soon after developing her own powers she accidentally ended up world-hopping, where she was found by KoTiel and KanMien, who took her in, at which point she also found out that readably available Investure (often in the form of metalminds KanMien filled) made her powers much more useful. She spent a few years traveling with them, eventually ending up in a relationship with KanMien, while coming to see KoTiel as an adoptive parent. At some point they started living in the Alleycity, and when KoTiel decided to keep travelling KanMien and Kumiko instead decided to stay, eventually joining TUBA.

Shade:

Spoiler

Name: Shade
Age: 17

Weaknesses: Fairly shy and has trouble dealing with crowds. She has psychological issues related to her backstory, Has become dependant on the emotion dampening effect her powers create, and feels extremely uncomfortable when not using them. Isn't really capable of standing up for herself when confronted by someone she considers to have authority over her.

Guild: Ghostbloods.

Family: Parents and uncle, all deceased.

Personality: She tends to be quite cold to others, and doesn't really know how to interact with people except for killing them or being afraid of them and obeying them. Distrusts people who try to be kind to her. Has long stopped caring about the well-being of other people, and has a sick fascination with seeing people betray others, believing it to be the normal way for things to go. When using her powers her emotions fade away. She personally has the idea that the more she hides her presence the more her emotions disappear as well. Her motivations stay though, and certain strong emotions can stay as well (specifically her fear of being trapped).
Likes being in open places without any people around.

However, her uncle found out, and scared that she might betray him he kidnapped the girl, and forced the girl to betray Shade, and then got Shade to kill her in return, which broke her.
Later on strangers came by while she was gone on an assignment, and when she returned she found they had killed her uncle, as he was an ex-Ghostblood who had betrayed them. Since she didn't care about her uncle and didn't have anywhere to go she ended up going with them, and started working for them in the Alleyverse.

Theme Song: Delain, Scarlet.

Mari Enriel:

Spoiler

Name: Mari Enriel

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Appearance: 5'4'' tall with short dark brown hair and brown eyes. Has a visible Terris heritage. Androgynous look. Wears a black coat with hoodie and trousers.

Investure:  Two spikes increasing her connection to the alleys, resulting in the following abilities:
Her connection to the alleys sometimes allows her to glimps hints of things beyond reality, as well as give her the ability to sense nearby alleytravel (distance related to the strength of the traveller and the number/size of people, as well as how badly they're mangling reality. A city-block or two for regular alleytravel). Can sense alleymatics users, and they can sense her too (are there any others around, except maybe the Stranger?). (most of this is probably just fluff, just felt it was appropriate given how her powers work)
Alleymatics-based mass shifting. (spoilered because it's way too long)

Equipment: Small, long cylinders filled with lead projectiles strapped beneath her forearms where she expel the projectiles by moving her wrists the right way. She uses these when her mass is increased as a short-ranged shotgun attack by letting her mass-manipulation field's effect accelerate them when they leave its range. The deflection effect makes them nearly impossible to accurately aim though, made worse by the throwing motion, making it a very short-ranged attack. Projectile speeds sit at roughly 100m/s, low enough that they'll likely be non-lethal when not hitting vital points, especially with thicker clothing. They have a quick-release function in case of Allomancers.

Skills: Hand-to-hand combat, Expert (50), Assassination, amateur (20).

Weaknesses: Poor social skills, on account of spending a large part of her life in the DA. Can't carry aluminium, since it interferes with their abilities. Her ability to see things beyond reality can sometimes cause her to see some fairly scary stuff. She has gotten used to it to some degree, so no panic attacks, but they do frighten her and make her want to get away from that place. Phasing when those things are around is a very bad idea, and consecutive use of her powers in one location can attract their attention. Her two spikes make her more vulnerable to Emotional Allomancy, but not enough to be controlled under normal circumstances.

Personality: Fairly easygoing, sometimes seems to just stare into the distance (whenever she perceives something). Has a tendency to use her laid-back attitude and jokes as a defensive mechanism, and still has a lot of unresolved issues regarding the experiments the DA performed on her, and mostly sticks around with them because the job pays well, the alleys make her feel at ease, and the fact that her abilities make it rather hard to get a different job (and possibly a loyalty spike. Are we still using those?). The stuff she's seen means that she can handle more regular scary stuff pretty well. Hates people who prey on or abuse children, and normally deals with them permanently, sometimes bringing them in as test-subjects, though she might like doing this just a tad too much.
Quite curious, enjoys learning new things.
Highly aggressive in combat, trying to finish things as fast as possible, though she prefers not to kill people under most circumstances (people she considers evil are dealt with more permanently though).

Family: Killed when she was ten.

History: Her family originally emigrated from Scandrial when she was still a baby, and got decent jobs in the alleycity. However, when she was 10 her parents got killed during a robbery when travelling while she was at home. The murderer got arrested and convicted, but she didn't have anywhere to go. However, a DA researcher found out about it and picked her up, since she was an extremely rare iron compounder, which he needed for an experiment. Experimenting on her in secret (unethical experiments are one thing, but even a fair number of DA researchers draw a line with experimenting on an unwilling kid) he altered her spiritweb, mutating her ability, and then used spikes to connect her soul to the alleys themselves, granting her the innate ability to alter her mass by partially transitioning out of reality instead. Immediately after this was done she used this ability to phase her hand through his chest, killing him in revenge for the experiments. Most other researchers didn't care that much though, since the experiment had already succeeded and they still had his notes (and nobody cared that much about someone experimenting on kids). Instead they decided to keep her there and observe and train her, and later got her a job in the DoCI.

Aylitha's faction (don't participate in plots unless invited or very specific criteria are met):

Spoiler

Aylitha:

Spoiler

Name: Aylitha

Age: Unknown, above the 1000s. Physically tends to look roughly 13-14, when human at least.

Gender: Female

Appearance: Has two default avatars, a human(like) one and a fox.

  • Human: She'll generally look like a 13-14 year old girl with unnaturally white skin that has purple and black veins crawling across it. her eyes are pure black, and she has long black hair that looks suspiciously like thin tendrils. Wears a simple black dress, with the bottom looking slightly tattered and worn. When regenerating or creating flesh the flesh will momentarily have a tar-like look before returning to normal. When preparing for combat her entire skin will turn to this tar-like appearance.
  • Fox: A large, roughly 5 foot tall fox, with black fur and dark grey fur, as well as small patches of dark purple shining through.

Abilities: Her body is made up of an unknown organic substance, which is capable of freely altering it's own functions and can function without a need for oxygen, which allows beings created of it to freely alter their own forms, similar to Kandra, but also capable of creating bone and hair analogues, though this matter's natural appearance tends to be a strange hybrid between fungal, plant-like and molluscoid. This matter is not magical in nature, but instead the result of immense amounts of bioengineering.
What is magical about it is that each cell contains a connection to a different universe which can supply matter and energy to the cells, as well as interfere with them. It's in this universe that Aylitha's intellect actually resides, controlling her matter remotely. Through this supply of matter she also has a basically endless regeneration ability, as well as the ability to hide additional bodies elsewhere.
She's also capable of splitting up her mind, creating different individual versions of her mind that control specific bodies, or fulfill specific tasks, working together like a hive-mind that together forms the entity known as Aylitha. Generally these sub-intelligences are still separated from each other though, to prevent any harm to an individual from affecting the whole.
Furthermore, both the main intelligence as well as the sub-intelligences also capable of creating drones, creatures that subsectioned off from Aylitha herself, though she does retain indirect control, and because of this have much more limited resources, only being able to have 40kg of mass stored away at once, though even a drone can still subdivide its mind further, but will need to rely on the creation's own brain instead of the hosted in her own universe.
Has managed to figure out how to create basic motivators from epics, but the process is crude, and because it involves creating human flesh it requires her to create a biological interface around it to be able to properly use it. Currently only has motivators from Hazel, which are limited in function, and she normally only equips drones with them, to prevent contamination of the whole.

Skills: Intelligence, mastermind. Scholarship (biology, chemistry, genetics), expert. Scholarship (investure), skilled.

Weaknesses: vulnerable to fire. While this isn't enough to kill a sub-intelligence, it can lock them down because of the need to constantly regenerate, and it can kill drones outright.
Because of her curiosity and self-preservation instincts and a preference for subtlety she normally only sends small numbers of drones to deal with her targets, and doesn't care too much if they escape, instead only escalating the power and number of drones if someone continuously kills them.
Doesn't interfere with the city except for her assignment of resetting individuals who remember the old world, unless a threat shows up that nobody is capable of dealing with, but even in that case she prefers subtlety and keeps interference to a minimum.

Personality: Highly curious, has trouble understanding people. Tends to classify based on how interesting someone is, instead of like and dislike or good and evil. While she is capable of empathy and caring about people this normally only applies to specific people close to her, and to a lesser extent those she considers interesting.
Doesn't care about what happens to drones and sub-intelligences, and they generally have low self-preservation instincts, but Aylitha as a whole does have one, going as far as placing emergency bodies and biomass on different worlds, as well as using drones and sub-intelligences to prevent harm to a part from damaging the whole.

History: Her full past is unknown even to those closest to her, Hazel and Karin. She originally arrived in the alleys while the original DA was still active, and worked alongside the Lonely God and the Stranger. When the decision was made to seal of the alleys she disappeared as well, taking the part of the alleys she made her home in and moving the partially into the physical world, placing them far beneath the city, connected to the sewers and other old tunnels, where old experiments and disconnected drones of her can be found. The alleys are still partially connected to the rest of them though, but only those chosen by Aylitha (and extremely rarely someone very (un)lucky) can travel them. Here she made her home, eventually finding Hazel wandering in the alleys as a kid, and curious about her she took her in, and later managed to bring out Karin with her help.
She's one of the few beings in the universe who know the world was reforged, though her memories of the original world are missing, and she doesn't know when the change happens, but she does know it's her task to deal with anyone who starts remembering the old world again. She personally suspects some kind of outside threat was the reason behind the change, and that large-scale memory restorations can cause it to reappear, though she isn't certain about that.

Affiliation: Aylitha's faction

theme song: Yuki Kajiura, Sis Puella Magica. Beethoven, Moonlight Sonata (1st movement).

Hazel Blackmore:

Spoiler

Name: Hazel Blackmore

Gender: Female

Age: 17

Appearance: 5'1", somewhat scrawny. Has longer dark-blonde hair. Her body has a large number of non-human features from the enhancements Aylitha gave her, which are visible as black veins and patches being visible on her skin, which are mainly concentrated on her limbs and back. Her eyes are completely black. Technically these enhancements are a completely different creature that exists in symbiosis with her. For her clothing she normally wears plain-looking clothing that somewhat resembles a suit, and wears dark sunglasses to hide her eyes. Always wears either earbuds or headphones. Wears a set of leather gloves. Wears a small, heavy-looking backpack.

Abilities (Epic):

  • Mindsense:
Can sense the minds of nearby beings, and use this to find their locations. She can recognize specific people this way. Range is limited to roughly 400 meters, but can be greater or smaller depending on the strength of the mind in question, as well as how much effort she's using.
This works on the same principles as the creatures on Pathi, meaning that beings inside a coppercloud or similar magical effect (Aviar) can't be sensed.
  • Sense Borrowing:
She can connect to specific minds she senses to borrow one or multiple of their senses. Utilizing the senses of multiple people requires a fair degree of focus though, so she can only do this with a few people at once.
  • Telepathy:
Can read surface thoughts of minds she senses when she focusses on them. She can also directly talk to them this way, as well as broadcast messages to everyone in her vicinity.
  • Mental Illusions:
Can create mental illusions that are either broadcasted to everyone vicinity, but limited to only one sense (generally things like disguising or hiding herself), or more complex multisensory illusions targeted to only a few specific people.
  • Memory Examination and Manipulation:
She can perform cursory examinations of the memories of nearby people, with a range generally limited to 30m, as well as perform basic alterations to those memories. This is generally limited to erasing the last hour or so, or make them forget having seen her. When she's physically touching someone her abilities are enhanced a lot, and she can look through their entire memory, and edit whatever she wants. Certain stimuli can recover old memories though if it becomes clear to the victim that that specific memory has been altered, but it will generally take recovering information about what actually happened as well, which is why she tries to keep memories as constant as possible, relying on the fact that most people's memory is naturally unreliable.

Biological enhancements: Aylitha has made a number of modifications to her body, as well as giving her implants made from her biomatter.

  • Pain Dissociative Disorder: While she does experience pain, it doesn't cause any suffering to her, and she experiences it in the same way as someone else would experience a room being warm or cold. This means that she is aware of it when she receives an injury, and can take appropriate measures, but pain doesn't actually bother her. This is what allows Aylitha to create motivators using her DNA without her being in constant pain (technically she is, but it doesn't bother her).
  • Improved physical abilities: Her body naturally has the same benefits as someone burning pewter.
  • Reduced need for oxygen: The organic matter given by Aylitha doesn't require oxygen, which allows her to conserve oxygen for much longer, being able to go without breath for 10 minutes, though heavy exertion will lower this.
  • Ocular implants: Her original, non-functional eyes have been replaced by new ones made from Aylitha's cells. These eyes are linked to the rest of the implants, and form a sentient (but not sapient) symbiotic entity that she can connect with to borrow its sight. While these eyes are attached to the muscles in her eye-sockets they aren't attached to her nervous system, and thus she can't actually focus them, needing to rely on automated mechanisms instead. These eyes are capable of viewing infrared and ultraviolet light, but this can sometimes interfere with her normal vision, and she has trouble distinguishing between different shades of the same colour.
  • Halted ageing.

Skills: Melee weapons, Average (35), Parkour, Skilled (not sure what point count this is?)

This is also why she's always wearing something that plays music, and not hearing anything tends to make her rather nervous and stressed out, compounded by the fact that her Mindsense also weakens. Losing her sense of touch can actually send her into a panic attack, especially if she also loses her sense of hearing, and the combination is generally enough to completely negate her powers, unless there's another external sensation she can hold onto like strong smells.

Weaknesses:

  • Is part of Aylitha's group, and thus doesn't interfere in things unless she has specific orders (which she won't get unless it's the only way to save the city), instead simply observing.
  • Her abilities generally don't work against copper burners, and she can't sense people inside a coppercloud or similar effect, which means she can't directly target them, though broadcasts will still affect them. The only way she can directly act against someone burning copper is physical contact, and even then it takes a lot. The only exception is people with very weak copper, like people with degraded hemalurgic spikes, in which case their signatures are simply extremely weak.
Aluminium lined hats can make someone much harder to see and affect, but unless they use thick linings she can still affect them when putting in effort.
  • Requires her powers to see, and if someone manages to disable her abilities, either by fully triggering her weakness or through touching her while burning Chromium.

Personality: Can be rather quiet. Tries to keep other people at a distance, and is afraid of getting familiar with people. Has trouble with interacting with other people. Quickly gets attached to people who do manage to get close to her though. Has abandonment issues. Normally always has at least some form of music playing, or making noise in some way or another. Hates being in an environment without sound. Has a habit of doing tricks with her butterfly knives as a nervous tick.
Extremely devoted to Aylitha, as well as Karin, and generally doesn't care about other human beings.
Considers combat a last resort, and normally uses illusions and evasion instead to simply get away, since she knows she's hard to replace for Aylitha, and that unlike Aylitha and Karin she isn't immortal with powerful regeneration and backup bodies.
Only really comfortable around Aylitha and Karin, and has trouble dealing with things when they're not around. Considers her implants a comforting presence.
Unconsciously performs constant surface scans on people around her. She knows this is an invasion of privacy, but doesn't care.

Family: Doesn't know the state her parents back on earth. Sees Ayltiha as an adoptive parent, and isn't sure about Karin, but generally sees her as a sister.

At the same time her abilities also started activating, which increased her fear and confusion. She accidentally wandered into the Alleys, eventually stumbling onto the part that Aylitha separated out, something that generally doesn't happen. Surprised, Aylitha nursed her back to health and raised her, and eventually managed to bring back Karin with her help, and the two of them ended up working together as Aylitha's agents to help her.
Somewhere along the line Aylitha also get her permission to install her implants, and create motivators from her.

Guild: Aylitha's group

Theme Song: Delain, See Me in Shadows. Within Temptation, Where is the Edge.

Karin Dreier (Eldritch):

Spoiler

Name: Karin Dreier (Eldritch)

Species: Aylitha drone (formerly human)

Age: looks 17

Gender: Female

Appearance: 5'1'' tall, with an unhealthily pale skin, purple eyes and long black hair. When actively using her abilities her skin gains a tar-like appearance and her eyes become a chitin-like black. Someone paying close attention will notice she normally doesn't breath except when talking, and she doesn't have a heartbeat either. Wears nondescript clothing somewhat resembling a business suit, as well a darkened sunglasses to hide her eyes. The cloths themself are woven from her own biomatter, allowing her to use them as a output point for her abilities.

Has a direct connection to Aylitha, which allows the two to communicate and allows Aylitha to clone her if she dies, but because of the way this connection works Aylitha isn't actually capable of interfering with her actions, unlike as with other drones.

Skills: Hand to hand, skilled. Smart. Scholarship (molecular biology), amateur.

Weaknesses:

  • Is part of Aylitha's group, and thus doesn't interfere in things unless she has specific orders (which she won't get unless it's the only way to save the city), instead simply observing.
  • Her regeneration and shapeshifting are limited to the amount of mass she has stored up. If she uses too much of it she'll need to retreat to get more, and have to deal with the fact that her healing and shapeshifting won't work anymore.
  • Dislikes showing off her abilities, especially her shapeshifting, and tries to use it as little as possible.

Family: Her original family is long dead, but their descendants are still alive (how many depends, she can't really go back to her old world anymore so time is fuzzy). Considers Hazel to be somewhat of a sister to her, but doesn't quite know if she should treat Aylitha as a mother, old friend or sister.

Personality: Quite calm, often doesn't seem to really care about things that much. Deliberately doesn't get attached to people, since she knows that they'll die anyway in the end, but still tries to do what she feels is the right thing, and won't mind helping someone in need, as long as it doesn't interfere with Aylitha's policies.
Functions as the moral compass of the group (sort of), given that neither of the other two really cares about humans, nor do they have any sense of ethics or what is considered an appropriate response.
Her approach to situations (especially combat) tends to be highly analytical, and revolves around analysing as much as possible and using this to find weak points, and try and devise as many possible ways a situation can go and how to deal with them.

History: Originally a normal human in some random earth world, she was chosen by Aylitha as her host, and had her body mutated into its current form. For the most part Aylitha actually stayed in the background, and wasn't capable of controlling her. However, after a century or so she started growing weary of life, partially because of immortality but mostly because of a lot of dead friends and family. Eventually she handed control to Aylitha and went into a permanent sleep in a corner of their shared mind.
Nearly a millennium later, however, Aylitha managed to contact and wake her again with the help of Hazel, and together they convinced her to join her, with Karin giving Hazel permission to transform most of her memories from episodic to semantic, allowing her to remember her life but not have the deal with the emotional impact as much, and afterwards Aylitha created a new body for her, and she started helping them.

Affiliation: Aylitha's group

Theme Song: Really Slow Motion, Unbroken. Combat song: A-One, Adequate.

Aylitha's creatures:

Spoiler
General details:
Spoiler

Abilities: While the creatures are made up of the same base biomatter as Aylitha, the cells are normally specialized, reducing or removing their weakness to fire, but also reducing their regenerative capabilities and shapeshifting abilities, and giving them specific organs that are necessary for them to stay alive. Generally these changes also create other effects, such as greater strength or speed, or improved defensive capabilities, with the specific improvements depending on the creature.
Keep in mind that the general benefits of the cells are still there, so their strength and speed will be greater than expected for their muscle mass, and they don't require oxygen. They'll also only have a maximum of 40kg of mass available for regeneration, less if they haven't been able to eat. They can use food to replenish this reserve.
They might also have other more specific abilities, but these creatures are rarer, and generally sacrifice more on other fronts. A large number of these creatures might not rely on eyesight, instead using different senses. This can be exploited to deal with them, but can also make certain tactics against humans not work.

Weaknesses: Each creature will have a minimum of at least one weakness, which can generally be deduced, but will be unknown at the start. Aside from that, their general intelligence is normally quite limited, with their intelligence being closer to that of a smart beast, not a human. Furthermore, those specifically send out by Aylitha to hunt people aren't actually capable of killing people, instead trying to capture them.

Notes:

  • While these creatures will be send out to hunt people who remember the old world, they can also be found in underground areas. The creatures encountered there are not under direct orders and don't have any issue killing and eating people.
  • When someone first starts remembering the creatures send out will be weaker, and few in number. If someone kills them or bands together with others it will cause stronger ones to be send out, but simply evading them and escaping won't cause as much escalation, and will instead cause creatures with different/better senses to be send out instead.
  • If creatures on a hunt are evaded or killed it will take time before new ones are dispatched, giving time to prepare.
  • Not all details about the creatures will be noted. If you want more specific details because your character is fighting a wild one or would have previous knowledge because of their backstory, please send me a message.

Barghest:

Spoiler

Appearance: tall (6'5''), bipedal creature whose limbs look too large, and is capable of walking on four feet as well. Covered in a coarse, black fur, with a head like that of a wolf-hound, with strange slime dripping from its jaws. Overall, its body has a thin and scrawny look. It's eyes are completely red. Instead of barking it lets out a noise similar to that of rattling chains.

Sometimes found in packs.

Faceless:

Spoiler

Appearance: Its body looks human, but has a tar-like skin, and when it moves it looks like it lacks a skeleton. It's name comes from the fact that nothing is visible on its head, instead being completely smooth.

A strange, high-pitched noise can be heard being emitted from its body.

Boeman:

Spoiler

Appearance: Headless, humanoid figure wearing shaggy clothing that leaves its stomach bare, with it's stomach being unnaturally wide, and having a stitched scar running horizontally across it.

Rumoured to take away naughty children, with the scar on its stomach transforming into a mouth.

Executor:

Spoiler

Appearance: A knight, covered in bone-white armour plates, with small amounts of tar-like skin being visible through the cracks. Looks heavy-set with muscles, but the armour doesn't look as if it has any flexibility

Schlock:

Spoiler

Appearance: Blob monster, looks as if its made up of black slime, moss and vines. No legs or other extremities are visible.

Mindstalker:

Spoiler

Appearance: Looks as if its entire body is made from chitin, with legs and arms closer to that of an insect, with a somewhat scythe-like appearance. No visible details, aside from a strange, somewhat small bulge on its back.

Can make itself appear as people from its victim's memories.

Sisters:

Spoiler

Appearance: Look a lot like a younger version of Aylitha's human avatar, but without most of the blatantly inhuman aspects, with the only remaining aspect being the white skin. Can't change facial expressions.

Intelligent. Every singly one looks exactly the same.

Foxes:

Spoiler

Appearance: Human-like, except for the fact that their head is that of a fox.

Intelligent, unspecified abilities, but likely something that appears magical. People around them seem to have an unnatural urge to trust them.

Alleyverse side-universe characters:

Spoiler

Fantasy world (Jörð):

Spoiler

Lilia Blumenkind:

Spoiler

Name: Lilia Blumenkind

Age: ~58 (physical age looks like it's between 14 and 20)

Species: Descendant, mother is human and the father is a class 4 (Haunt) forest spirit.

Gender: Female

Appearance: 5'4'' tall with purple eyes and dark green hair, she has a somewhat inhuman appearance, which makes estimating her age somewhat difficult. A large white lily grows out the side of her head, and small vines grow in her hair, the vines having small flowers growing from them. Her skin shows hints of green as well, in places having a texture similar to that of leaves, or vines. She has thicker vines growing out of her wrists as well, which normally wrap around her arms and her upper body, but she can use them as tentacles too.

She wears trousers and a shirt, both of which seem to be made from a green, plant-like material which seems surprisingly sturdy. She also wears sturdy leather boots.

Magic: She is a skilled Fleshcrafter, and has used her magic to inscribe a small set of spells on her own body, some of which use her vines for targeting things (no ranged spells). The small amount of magic that she knows that isn't Fleshcrafting is extremely primitive though, relying on extremely outdated theories and being highly simplistic and wasteful.

Innate Magic: She's capable of seeing spirits, even those who aren't powerful enough to be visible to normal people, or those that try to hide themselves. She's also capable of physically interacting with them, and asking them to do things for her. They aren't required to do this for her though, or might do things in a way she doesn't like.

Spells (Asterisk denotes inscribed spell):

  • Physical enhancement (trigger word: Styrkja, deactivation: Eðlilegt)*: This spell alters her body, improving her metabolism, muscles and bones to allow for increased strength, speed, stamina and agility, but can't be active for longer periods of time, as the changes to her metabolism would become dangerous otherwise. This spell consists of two parts, one to activate it, and one to deactivate it, since the spell doesn't need to be continuously running for it's effect to manifest itself.

  • Hardening (trigger word: Herða)*: Temporarily hardens parts of her vines, making it impossible for Lilia to bend and move those parts, but making them more effective as weapons and defenses.

  • Decomposition (trigger word: Niðurbrot)*: starts decomposing all organic matter that her vines touch. Since it only decomposes what is directly touched, this doesn't instantly kill targets, instead only giving surface injuries. If she has her vines wrapped around something she can use that to keep pressing her vines against it though, destroying it.

  • Fleshcrafting: A skilled Fleshcrafter, she's capable of healing people, as well as interfering with living beings in other ways. She can also use this to manipulate plants as well. The complexity of these spells means that this generally can't be done on the fly though.

  • Heating spell: A very basic spell that can be used to heat up an area, or be focused in a smaller area to cook things. Does not create fire.

  • Water condensation: A basic spell that takes water vapor in the atmosphere and condenses it, creating a source of drinkable water.

Skills: Decent woodland survival skills, especially when it comes to hiding in the woods. Knowledgeable of biology. More intelligent than her personality might sometimes indicate. Good tracker, and a fairly good hand-to-hand combatant (though only when using her vines and magic). Has fairly good instincts (except for social situations).

Personality: Her personality is somewhat strange, acting childlike at times, while surprisingly mature and wise at other times. Doesn't really understand human morality that well, and her thought patterns are somewhat alien to humans, being more similar to that of a spirit. Her rather bizarre perspective also means that she generally shouldn't be asked for healing, since she's just as likely to heal a person as to turn them into some bizarre creature. Tends to be rather soft-spoken.

Weaknesses: Almost all of her spells take time to set up, and she doesn't have any ranged spells. Her non-Fleshcrafting spells are also extremely simplistic, and are more utility spells, not combat spells. Her appearance and personality mean that a lot of people, especially the superstitious ones, are somewhat distrustful of her. Her attitude towards and usages of Fleshcrafting can also put her at odds with other mages.

Family: Her mother lives back in her village. Her father disappeared and reappeared at irregular intervals, and is believed to be a spirit.

History: Born in the Flower Spirit's village, she was somewhat unusual because of the white lily growing out of her head when she was born. Named after this lily she was raised normally, living in the village, wandering through the woods and modifying herself. When she got older she started getting interested in the outside world, of which their village knew almost nothing, except for the few pieces of news they got from the few merchants and locals that visited them. At one point, she decided to set out into the human world, taking a number of Investure crystals with her, and went traveling, exploring the different lands.

Themesong: Adrian von Ziegler, A Celtic Lore. Faun, Von den Elben.

Horror story:

Spoiler

Lisa Waite:

Spoiler

Name: Lisa Waite

Planet of origin: Random earth, one where no weird things would ever happen (right?).

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Appearance: 5'8'' tall. Looks relatively plain, with long brown hair and grey eyes. Is nearsighted and wears larger, round glasses. Tends to dress rather conservatively.

Investure: N/A

Skills: Decent scientist with a lot of knowledge of physics. Bad at more practical applications though. Fast runner. Has a decent amount of experience with horror movies, so knows the tropes.

Personality: Soft-spoken and introverted. Dislikes horror movies, and hates jump scares. Gets scared and panicky easily. The type that when frightened by something hides in a corner with a candlestick, only to brain the first person to try and help her because she confuses them for something scary. Very curious when coming across new things, when they're not scary at least, and she has finished panicking.

Weaknesses: Scared quickly, and tends to either panic and run or crawl into a corner when scared. Has difficulty saying no to people.

History: Originally living in new england, she had a number of friends who really liked horror movies, and always dragged her off to see new ones, with her being unable to say no even though she didn't like the movies. After graduating, she went on to study at the Miskatonic University, aiming for a degree in physics. However, at one point something bizarre happened, sucking her into the alleyverse. When she finally managed to stop panicking she found out about magic and (after another panic attack) decided to go and study it to see how it figured into the normal laws of the universe.

Reckoners RP characters:

Spoiler

Kaitlin Howards (Amethyst):

Spoiler

Name: Kaitlin Howards
Epic Name: Amethyst

Gender: Female

Powers: Has the ability to create crystals looking similar to amethysts (actual chemical composition is different). She also has the ability to control these crystals telekinetically, but this limits the mass of the crystals to thin spears and shards. Crystals can be larger when grown from the ground. Using her powers will also have parts of her body slowly turn into crystal. While this does increase her strength and durability in the short term, it caries downsides for longer usage. This is because the crystals will also make it harder for her to move, and over-usage of the powers will start turning organs into crystals, which will kill her if it reaches vital organs. Normally these crystals will fade away again after she stops using her powers, but over-usage means it'll take longer for them to vanish, and at least some of them will stay behind.

Weakness:

Spoiler

Being told by someone she respects, or has gotten attached to, that she has disappointed them. The strength of the the effect depends on how attached she is to the person saying it to her. This will happen even if it's clear it's said as a joke, but in this case the psychological impact will be lower (though it will still be there).

Appearance: 5'2'' high. Has shoulder length black hair, and generally wears jeans, a hoodie and hiking shoes. During colder weather she also wears a thick winter coat with a hood attached to it. She also has patterns of crystal spread across her body in fairly symmetrical patterns, including her face, from previous overuse of her powers. She generally keeps the hood of her coat up to hide these.

Personality: She has a form of dependent personality disorder, and generally acts shy around other people, and tends to go along with what they do. She has the tendency to get attached to a single person, for whom she'll do anything they ask of her, including things like murder. When not told to do anything she generally displays little initiative. Currently also has trust issues because of things in her past.

Backstory: She got her powers at the same time as a friend of hers did, and ended up following her and helping her serve a local high epic. Later on, her friend decided to use her to take over instead, but they ended up losing the fight. Her friend blamed her for having their loss, and out of spite, used her weakness on her while making sure the other Epics found out as well. Because of her loss of powers the Epics fighting them made her a lower priority, and she managed to escape with the help of an epic called Neverthere. Confused and scared by her friends' betrayal she ended up fleeing the city. Following Neverthere's advice she eventually ended up heading to Edmonton, hoping that it was far enough away that nobody would have heard of her weakness.
