  1. I feel like there might be a Realmatic reason for Autonomy's perpendicularity being able to form and subsequently becoming unstable/unusable. And I know I'm going to bungle this, so I totally expect some feedback. I think that Autonomy was able to build a perpendicularity where the "refugees" were because the refugees thought the world ended. They were being told that the world ended and shown "proof" that Scadrial was basically toast. Their perception of what the world actually was, affected the cognitive realm in such a way that it weakened Harmony's connection to that specific area. Autonomy was then able to build a perpendicularity in that spot as that was a "hole" in the planet at that location in the cognitive realm. And when the "refugees" used up the investiture and subsequently saved, that hole closed up. The army literally had no where to go, especially after being trapped in one of Marasi's bubbles.
  2. I was confused on this as well. I don't know if it helps at all, but at the end of BoM right before Mr. Suit gets vaporized. The red eyed hobo says that they agreed with Edwarn's plan and were going to accelerate the pace. Here is the quote: "Our accelerated pace will no longer require the Set to have its full hierarchy." Edwarn whines and then "Recent advances have made civilization here too dangerous. Allowing it to continue risks further advances we cannot control, and so we have decided to remove life on this sphere instead." So according to the red eyed guy, Edwarn messed up. He pushed to accelerate, not knowing that Autonomy's "faceless immortals" would basically cripple and deceive the Set into thinking that the bomb was a city killer. When in reality, it was probably a planet killer. Harmony even states that he wasn't sure exactly how much damage even two of those bombs would do.
  3. At the end of the first era, sure. That doesn't necessarily mean that he has the same amount/configuration now.
  4. I posted in a different thread, and I apologize in advance for not quoting everyone else and book passages. I would like to point out a few things: Kelsier doesn't mention the bands at all Kelsier doesn't have any Scadrian abilities other than the spike in his eye that "ties his soul to his bones" Marasi doesn't bring up the bands to Kelsier However: Death (ironeyes) can be invested directly by Harmony Death has all the powers that can be had (and could have had more added at any time) Death mentions at the end of the book that he can help Wax take out his spike and presumably makes a comment referencing his fight with Vin about losing one that "he thought would kill him". So I believe the following events happened: Marsh pulled out an eye spike (that he is surprised didn't kill him Marsh went to south scadrial to save the Malwish and all those people Marsh created the bands of mourning and made that ridiculous temple Marsh created the medallions and the copper coins that we see "kelsier's" memories in as the Survivor Marsh eventually drained the bands right under the Kandra's noses (or with their help) I feel like Kelsier is somehow in the dark about the bands, but I seriously doubt it. He has to know about them. There's no way to keep that kind of secret from him. Anyways, those are my points.
  5. I just want to make a statement/prediction that i believe. Marsh is the one who helped the southern scadrians, the one who crafted the bands of mourning, the one who oversaw that ridiculous temple's construction and the one who drained the bands. I also believe he's using sculpted speed bubbles to get around without being "noticed". Or he's using stored speed in a metal mind I can back most of it up, but i don't have an easy way to quote things from my phone.
  6. I honestly don't know. And I agree that if the theory can't wrap up the facts than a) it's not a strong theory or it's a really strong theory that won't be supported until more facts become available. We don't know a whole lot about Trell, I agree. I think we can agree that the Words of Founding might be available off world. If it is, then it could be as simple as picking a random religious name out of the list of gods. As far as what the metal is? I personally think it's the blending of Honor's and Odiums metals. I need to work on this some more before I can really get behind it, but I like the possibility. Thanks for the response, I like tough questions.
  7. I don't like that I'm going to come across as combative, but do we know that push and pull are "homegrown" so to speak? I kind of agree that that's what they're trying to start doing, but it feels more recent to me. I don't completely agree with your hierarchy argument either. The wind runners adopted one in a short amount of time; granted, they had some history to build off of. My only point is that an organization can structure itself pretty quickly.
  8. If Axindweth is from Scadrial (which seems to be the consensus), then I believe she is part of the Ghostbloods. I believe she was sent by Thaidakkar (sp?) to work with/spy on Gavilar and Kelek. We know that Thaidakkar is probably investigating the things going on on Roshar to try to solve is cognitive shadow problem. Assuming the WoB's are true about the timelines of SA5 taking place chronologically before W&W, my latest crack theory is that the Set is a direct response to the Ghostbloods messing with Roshar. I believe that Shallan and Pattern will form the Set in retaliation to the Thaidakkar and Mraize's intervention, regardless of what happens with the whole champion thing. The Set's goals are particularly destructive, which makes me wonder if my Shallan/Set theory has any weight to it. Maybe the Set is run by a bunch of rogue Cryptics and not by any KR in particular.
  9. I had a prediction re-reading Warbreaker. Particularly the connection between using investiture to grow out their hair and Lift's ability to convert food to investiture. What if the Nightwatcher has ties to Nalthis? Perhaps Dalinar's curse (not being able to remember his wife) is related to the memory loss of a Returned. And Lift's boon seems related as well. Just a thought.
  10. 20 years sounds reasonable. I personally think that Brandon is one of the most impressive authors I've experienced. He gets a little grief for some of his works, a certain YA trilogy comes to mind, but I have read and continue to read all of his writings. He has a big plan and an even bigger story. His shorter works are some of my favorite. SA is an epic arc that will impress me every time. But his shorter works give him an opportunity to experiment, in writing style AND to try new magic, world building, and character development styles. Its incredible to read his variety. Adonalsium is and will continue to be a mystery. I'm ok with that!
  11. I would like to add to that theory and say that Preservation not only had a similar plan for Ruin, but perhaps saw enough glimpses of the future to plan for what's coming. I like your theory, it fits Mr. Sanderson's writing style at least.
  12. In a few moments, she was able to get the hair to grow. Several women gasped softly as the hair sprouted from Siri's head and moved down to her shoulders. Growing it made her feel hungry and tired, but it was better than letting the women fight snarls. hungry and tired... Could there be a similar connection to a certain awesome girl in WoR?
  13. I have a theory that I want to post on the boards soon. In WoK, Kaladin hears a Death Rattle in one of his flashbacks when he was younger. This was further to the east than Kharbranth. Then they're found in full force in Kharbranth years later. Then when Taravangian is in Jah Kaved he hears another Death Rattle and considers the possibility that Moelach is on the move. Do you think there's any relation?
  14. Perhaps the wave of a coppercloud is on a wavelength that is not detectable? What I mean is maybe it disrupts the detection of other Allomantic abilities by scrambling the resulting after effects of using Allomancy. Dib your finger in some water. Then, as the wave is travelling, stick your hand in and stir it up.
  15. I need to spend some time looking for a source, but I believe the answer is that the Southerners lived on the equator. They adjusted to that climate, which was much hotter than the poles. Now that the over all temperature is at pre Lord Ruler temperatures, the Southerners have been having hardships of their own. Why Harmony didn't change the genetic makeup of all the residents of Scadrial is a question that I never really asked.
