I’m a few chapters in and I’m not feeling it. Kinda boring so far. I hope it gets better.

hey everyone! I host a podcast where me and my cohost talk about all sorts of nerdy things, but we often talk about Brandon Sanderson and his books. In our most recent episode we talk about our experience at the Oathbringer release party in Provo. We've talked about some of Brandon's works in our previous episodes as well. We talked about Oathbringer in the latest episode, but we are still reading the book, so we didn't talk spoilers or get too much in to depth with it, mostly just our impressions of the new book and how we are liking it so far. We plan on doing an episode in the near future where we spend a good amount of time talking Oathbringer and Stormlight Archive after we've finished reading the book. So if you get a chance, check us out and let me know what you think. We are a fairly new podcast, we're only on episode 11, so we are learning a lot and having fun. The podcast is called Random Angst and we are on iTunes and Soundcloud.

Yes! The hot chocolate was awesome! Thank you once again! I'm only on chapter 7, and I just finished the part with Kaladin punching *someone* (don't want to post spoilers yet) in the face! That was awesome and long awaited. I didn't read the chapters online and am taking my time, but I've enjoyed the book so far.

I recorded everything if you want to check it out. I video recorded the speech that Brandon gave at the first about nostalgia, change and progression (which was very interesting and I enjoyed it). Then I audio recorded the Skyward reading as a separate file. You can find them on my Facebook page or on my You Tube account - search for Random Angst. It was great to be there and to see everyone! I camped out and was able to snag book #55!

Hey Brandon - Just wondering, are you ever going to go back and write about The Further Adventures of Lestibournes? I think his character is pivotal to the Mistborn trilogy and felt cheated that the trilogy mostly focused on Vin, Kel, Sazed, and Elend. I would like to know more of his backstory and how he became the stud that he is. Thanks, Justin

Anyone going to PacifiCon this Labor Day weekend? If so, if you could somehow pick me up an 11th metal promo die from the Crafty Games booth? I'd pay you $5 for it, and pay the shipping. Message me if you can and are willing to do so. Thanks! Justin

Good to hear from you Momo! I too have loved Avatar, the original and the new Korra series. I have watched the series with my kids through the years. As far as new series of books to read, I agree with most of what previous posters have said: Wheel of Time, Name of the Wind (Kingkiller series), ALL of Brandon's books, etc. I would add both of Jim Butcher's series, The Codex Alera (more fantasy based) and The Dresden Files (A Wizard Detective who solves supernatural crimes). Also, A Song of Ice and Fire, ie. Game of Thrones, is really good for the first three books, the last two have been pretty slow. But overall a good series. I've enjoyed Tad Williams' series that he has written too. Anyways, hopefully that can give you an idea or two for new series to read.

Great to hear from you Geoff! I too was a lurker for a bit, then recently signed up, trying to be more active in my favorite literary series fan forum.

Sanderson Fan First or Jordan Fan First?
JustinB replied to SirZelig's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I was a Jordan fan first, as I started WOT in 95. When Jordan fell ill and was laid up for such a long time, I started to look for other authors. A buddy of mine recommended Elantris and I started reading a couple of months before Jordan's death. I was starting Mistborn when TOR announced Brandon would take over. I was super stoked to hear that TOR and Harriet picked Brandon to finish WOT, and from the get go felt that Brandon could do a great job, which he did. Of course, it's not Jordan writing, but different and better in a way. Brandon brought the excitement and fun back to WOT in these last three books, that had been lagging since COS. Who knows if Jordan had been saving it all for AMOL, but Brandon certainly stepped up and delivered.
