Hmm...what to say on here. Obviously I love reading Brandon Sanderson (otherwise, why would I be here? Haha). Some other favorite authors of mine are Patrick Rothfuss, Neil Gaiman, Michael Crichton, Robert Jordan and Stephen King just to name a few. I generally stick to reading fantasy these days, but I do love graphic novels as well.

As to some other interests, I love all things superheroes in all forms, whether it be TV, movies or comics. I'm a big metalhead as well, as my current avatar showcases. I also enjoy sports, which I realize might make me a rare breed on this site. ;)

  1. A couple thoughts that I had regarding to the Cosmere that I didn't put in the other thread: I did feel like this version of the Ghostbloods felt different than the Roshar version? I realize they are the same organization but they felt a lot less nefarious, plus I now also wonder how their actions in Roshar is intended to fulfill their first rule, which is to defend Scadrial? Also I saw a couple people mention that Moonlight is Shai but I didn't get those vibes from her character? Moonlight seemed a lot more unsure of using her Essence Marks on herself, whereas at the end of Emperor's Soul, Shai utilized multiple in her escape from the palace. Edited this post since I missed the quote that confirmed it was her but still feel like she felt a little different.
  2. I really liked the book overall! I did feel like the book kinda dragged a bit halfway through part three, especially coming off the high of meeting all those Ghostblood members! But I thought the character arcs were really well done. Cried tears for Wayne, but I'm glad he went out the way he did. Kinda bummed Marasi made the decision she did in the epilogue as I was hoping to see her elsewhere but I thought it worked out. Got chills getting that epilogue of Kel and Sazed chatting again, but then also really need era 3 Mistborn already because Sazed is slowly losing it! Also nice that we are starting to get new villains to the forefront with Autonomy, plus with Sazed becoming more of a wild card, has me real excited for the future of the overall Cosmere. Guess I need to finally go read Aether of Night after all this time!
  3. I feel like he did it more sparingly in Al-Rassan as a whole, outside of the big one in the ending. But Mosaic definitely uses it more and it got pretty old by the 2nd book.
  4. Little late to this post but... Moore's Swamp Thing is incredible. #21 stands as one of my all time favorite issues, and Moore creates John Constantine in that run as well. Just fantastic. Also check out his Miracleman run, the last storyline is excellent. Finished the Sarantine Mosaic by GGK, I felt the story at times was a little thin but I could read interactions between Valerius and Alixana all day. Jumping back into 2nd Powder Mage book now!
  5. Got complimented by my boss yesterday at my somewhat new job (been there 2 months now) as being one of the best employees! It was the icing on the cake of a very good weekend at Phoenix Comicon where I grabbed the Elantris map prints that they printed for the event, among a ton of other things! Life has been pretty good lately, which is a nice change of pace compared to what it was.
  6. Black Panther was just perfect for me. One of my favorite Marvel characters and their portrayal did not disappoint. His last line to Zemo, "the living are not done with you yet" was fantastic. Spider-Man was good, I'm definitely looking forward to his movie. My biggest gripe was that I felt that the movie ended too cleanly. Yeah, the Avengers are "split" but I was really expecting some longer lasting reprecussions besides Captain and his team doing their own thing. But we will see how it goes on that route.
  7. Finishing House of Chains by Erikson. Really need to stop taking breaks when I'm in the middle of these books. Such a great series but my brain hurts constantly with how complex it is.
  8. Probably just using "deluxe" as a description, since they'll release a softcover version later.
  9. http://www.newsarama.com/29004-brandon-sanderson-s-fantasy-epic-comes-to-comic-books-with-white-sand-preview.html New preview came out today, including a cover!
  10. Found out that Brandon is coming to Phoenix Comiccon in June. *happy dance*
  11. King Lear is my favorite tragedy and Richard III is my favorite history. Really looking forward to the BBC adaptation of Richard, I loved the 4 history adaptations they did a few years back.
  12. Stratovarius is amazing, Nightwish took a lot of songwriting influence from them. I'm curious what about Floor's singing you don't like?
  13. I'm halfway through and I feel the same. It's good though, I have Lord of Emperors waiting, hoping to get through both by next month.
  14. Yeah I felt the same the last time I read it, still enjoyable but very dated.
