  1. Hi all and welcome to the Overlady Reads Oathbringer, Part 1! In the lead up to Rhythm of War, come with us as Lucy reads Oathbringer for the first time. Feel free to use this series as a refresher for what happens during Oathbringer in the lead up to Rhythm of War. Prepare to hear Lucy's fresh thoughts on the mysteries established in Part One, like who Odiums Champion is, the author of Oathbringer and who could forget, the mysteries of May Aladar.
  2. Hi all and welcome to The Overlady Reads Edgedancer! This one is a little shorter than the others, due to Edgedancer being a smaller book. Hope you all enjoy this tidbit before we tackle the behemoth that is Oathbringer! Does it convert Lucy to Shalladin? Find out on this episode of The Overlady Reads! We also cover the rumble at the centre of the Shattered Plains, where the Alethi forces face off against the Parshendi Stormforms! It's a lightning blast for everyone involved! Except Sureblood who died. So sit back, relax, and enjoy The Overlady Reads Part 4&5 of Words of Radiance:
  4. Welcome to The Overlady Reads Words of Radiance, Part 3! This episode is about the duel. You know, the duel in Words of Radiance Part 3. The Part 3 Words of Radiance duel. You may remember it because there's a duel that happens in Words of Radiance Part 3 and if you read Words of Radiance, specifically Part 3, specifically the part with the duel in it, you'd know about the duel in Words of Radiance Part 3. Other things also happen in Words of Radiance Part 3 other than the duel like the super important character Jix who Lucy decides is more important than other characters like Dalinar and Sebarial. Other stuff that's not the duel also happens in Words of Radiance Part 3 but those aren't the duel that happens in Words of Radiance Part 3 so they aren't as good as the duel in Words of Radiance Part 3. There's actually two duels in Words of Radiance Part 3, but you know the one I'm talking about. I'm not talking about the duel that isn't the duel in Words of Radiance Part 3 (You know the one), though we do talk about the duel that's not the duel (You know, the one I'm talking about) which is pretty cool but it's not the duel in Part 3 of Words of Radiance that you're thinking of and that I'm talking about. Anyway, here's the video where we talk about Words of Radiance Part 3 the duel and also the parts that aren't the duel (including the duel that's not the duel):
  5. Hey guys, welcome to The Overlady Reads Words of Radiance, Parts 1&2! This is the next in our series where my wife (The Overlady/Lucy/Empress) reads through the Cosmere for the very first time with me along with her. In this episode, we walk you through the events of Words of Radiance, Parts 1&2. We talk through what the characters are up to and Lucy gives some FANTASTIC theories on things coming up. Do you remember how filled with mysteries Words of Radiance was? The start quick and they don't stop coming. Words of Radiance just has so damnation MUCH going on! Listen as we make fun of Adolin's taste in women, point out the Wayne cameo in Words of Radiance, and generally just have a great time. Next week, we'll have a video all for Part 3 all by itself (It's the best part!). Let us know what your favourite parts of Words of Radiance Part1&2 are in the comments down below!
  6. The Tragedy of Thaylen Field By Overlord Jebus Authors Note: I'm sorry. This fic will spoil the climax of Oathbringer. Warning, this fic will cover multiple major character deaths. This is not for the faint of heart. I love myself a bit of suffering and even I struggled to write it. I am writing this a chapter at a time. When I have finished a chapter, I go back and read the previous chapter and do a second draft. I will then post the second draft. Feedback welcome. Table of contents:

  8. Hey guys, it's the one you've all been waiting for! Welcome to The Overlady Reads The Way of Kings, Parts 1&2! Obviously, The Way of Kings is an absolutely massive book so we've had to split these videos. This video covers the events and theories Lucy had whilst reading Parts 1 & 2 and the next episode will focus on Parts 3, 4 & 5. We hope you enjoy, it feels like Stormlight is where this series has been taking us and it's going to be one hell of a ride! Discover new ways to say your favourite names, and watch as someone even manages to mispronounce Spren! We've changed the format a little on these ones due to the amount of content to cover. As such, Lucy gives her theories on a Part by Part basis and you can watch as these change as the series goes on. Let us know what you think in the comments down below. Also, let us know some of YOUR theories from back when you first read Way of Kings! Find the fifth episode of The Overlady Reads below:
  9. It says it was posted Friday as that was it was done and I made the article/uploaded the video. We usually make stuff a few days early and unhide them when it's release day (We like consistent schedules and I've decided Monday is Overlady day :D) Also, if you're a Patron, you get these as soon as they are uploaded
  10. Welcome to the Overlady Reads Warbreaker! This week, the Overlady discovers that talking swords ARE GREAT! Join us as we find out what happens when Brandon writes a comic relief character that's not a creep and also other stuff I guess too. Watch as Lucy starts her WoB question list with a question about toilets. We really loved Warbreaker and are very excited for it's sequel. 11. I worry this would end up being just a transcript of the whole episode
  12. Hi all and welcome to The Overlady Reads Elantris! This one was really fun as, unlike with the Mistborn episodes, I read the book alongside the Overlady. It turns out that, after ten years of thinking I didn't like Elantris, I actually really like Elantris! I was almost hesitant to recommend it when we first started this journey but luckily, Lucy was a fan as well. So join us as we mispronounce literally every name and aon in the entire book! As Brandons first book, this one can fall either way for some people, but let us know what your guys thoughts on Elantris are, and more importantly, are you excited for a sequel? Find the third episode of The Overlady Reads below:
  13. Hi all and welcome to episode 2 of The Overlady Reads! This week, we learn about the allomancy breeding program and about how no one seems to care that this is a thing. Also, other stuff that happens in Era 2 and Secret History is talked about briefly. Find out what happens when someone who doesn't like books with lots of shooting in them reads a book with lots of shooting in it. The results might surprise you! Thanks everyone for kind words on our last video and for your feedback, Lucy actually wrote some of her questions down this time! Once again, this was super fun to make and we're excited to make the Elantris one next. Let us know what you guys favourite (Or least favourite) parts of Era 2 & Secret History. Find the second episode of The Overlady Reads below:
  14. You would be thinking correct I think you're the first person to notice so far
  15. Welcome to Ben (Overlord Jebus) and Lucy's new series, The Overlady Reads! Join us as a cosmere veteran takes a cosmere noob on a journey through Brandon's works, with all the spicy opinions and dumb jokes that come with that. This was a fun little video that me and my wife decided to record after she finished Mistborn Era 1. We were talking so much about the books as she read them that we decided to record something for you guys once she was done. We spoke about our favourite bits and our opinions and just saw where things took us. We plan on doing these regularly as Lucy reads through the cosmere so let us know if there's any topics/questions you'd want us to cover whilst we go through the series. Find the first episode of The Overlady Reads below:
  16. I'll get us started with an easy one! The two large glyphs near the middle are the glpyhs kalad and zeras, the two symbols that represent the Everstorm! The numbers below translate to 1173100804 which is the date of the final Highstorm before the Everstorm.
  17. I haven't yet. My plan was always to give it another redrafting before putting it on AO3 (There's some glaring things it's missing and things I want to rewrite) but I was waiting to finish other projects before going back to this. Those projects stalled and I just never got back around to it. Buuuut if there's demand for it on there, I'll bump it up the list! Thank you for reminding me to do this
  18. Okay, I have listened to the podcast and come to a conclusion. I hereby declare that, as I gave @Greywatch a point for getting an answer at the same time as @WeiryWriter, I shall grant @thegatorgirl00 a point as well as @Chaos for the final WTCC on the WTCCcast. As I still do not recognise @Chaos's half point as a legitimate point, this means that the final scores were Shannon: 1 Grace: 4 Eric: 5 Ian: 9 Thank you for listening to this announcement.
  19. Excellent post my dude. We've spoken on Ancient Roshar and the nature of the magics a few times and this is a great summary. The two bits I particularly like are regarding Nale never drawing on Stormlight from spheres (How have I never noticed this?). I've always strongly suspected fifth level Radiants would not leak, but being able to use Stormlight like the Fused use Voidlight would definitely be a big bonus. Second is regarding Voidbinding. It would make sense that whatever magic system was used on Ashyn, it would be related to Odium. He may not have been the original source but he may have corrupted something like he has with Roshar. I really really like the idea of "giving in" to Odium causes him to take something from you (Your guilt, your pain, your whatever) and this creates a void in you that he fills with Investiture to grant powers. I like this. It may not work like this anymore (I don't think this is what happened with Amaram) but I like it a lot.
  20. The way it's been described, Cohesion makes things soft (Put your hand in stone and make a handprint) and Tension makes things rigid (Turning cloth into a blade or a pool noodle into a deadly bludgeon). Make stairs in stone would only be using the Cohesion surge as it would be making the stone soft, reshaping it, then you would only need to stop using Cohesion for the stairs to go back to stone. You wouldn't require any Tension. I had headcanon'd it to them both being used to mold the stone from a distance (Micro tensions and softenings to cause movements, like how a worm or a snake moves) but Dragonsteel confirmed it to be a mistake so yeah, it's a mistake.
  21. I can confirm I'm not not wearing a bathrobe
  22. Some facts about Costco memberships: Some warehouses allow you to enter with guest pass to browse and not purchase. Someone can call the warehouse and verify if this is the case. Costco also allows you to get a full refund on your membership for any reason at any time. If you want to just sign up for a card beforehand then cancel it on your way out, you can do this.
  23. Hi! Good to hear you're interested in sending in a WTCC! To answer your questions, there isn't a list of already used characters. We don't mind if people send in repeat suggestions, we've had quite a few characters sent in multiple times. Most people don't send in the same clues so as long as you are creative, you should be fine. Plus, if we started limiting it to only one entry per character, that'd give the guys on the podcast an extra clue (it's a character that has not appeared in a previous WTCC ). I'm regards to a style guide, nothing solid. As long as it includes all 5 clues (you can number these if you want but if I think they might be better in a different order, I might switch them around) and who the character is (You'd be surprised at how many people send in clues and no answer). If you don't want me to read your name, put your username in the email and we'll read that instead. You can put multiple entries into one email but we recommend you send them in multiple emails. Hope this helps!
  24. I see your point, Alderant. Why don't we let the OP decide what they want their thread to be about before we jump to conclusions. For all we know, @Kadalmight be looking forward to discussing Adolin with people who don't agree with them. This is their first post after all, so they may be unaware of the history behind this discussion. I know I try to ignore it as it doesn't really interest me, I just disagreed with their application of Mary Sue phrase. So instead of turning this thread into an argument about what can and cannot be said in threads, why don't we continue discussing Adolin? If you would like to discuss this matter further, you are welcome to PM me.
  25. Most of what you said was subjective so I can't disagree with that. However, saying he's a Mary Sue because he's good at fighting is kind of not how that works. Dude was born into wealth in one of the most warlike countries on Roshar, with a Plate and Blade waiting for him. His calling is Duelling and he takes it very seriously. Him being good at fighting makes sense because it really should be the only thing he was good at. And it is. He has basically no other skills beyond fighting. He didn't know how to handle Sadeas so he did the only thing he's good at, he killed him. Dislike him for being a jock, dislike him for how Shadolin played out, dislike him for being privileged and for his personality and such. Those are fine, they are your opinions. But he is not a Mary Sue. He's pretty much only good at fighting because he's been trained to do that for the majority of his life. He's naive, ignorant of others feelings and self doubting. He has flaws, not on the level of other characters but he is far from perfect at everything.
