  1. “Can you just let it go, this one time? I didn’t know that the rule was hard and fast!”

“No,” the Master Artificerererer said flatly.

    Well poop.

Kipper rose and faced the Masters’ circle.

“I humbly and sincerely apologize to the Masters and the University as a whole for my reckless endangerment of students while testing new devices.”

Stone-faced, the Masters stared back at him. “You may go,” the Master Sympathist intoned.

Kipper went out as fast as a dignified walk would let him.

I'm here, just busy with a service project over the weekend.

  2. Okay, so Wonko is savage. What else?

Wonko, why is it so important to you that BB tell you his powers? BB has specifically said that it is not in his (or the village's) best interest for him to reveal his powers, so I'm unsure what the point of all this is other than to make people mad and dominate discussion for a day.

Also, I'm just gonna be frank and say that the language of this post seems to be trying very hard to make you out to be the confirmed good guy, and BB the clueless person who doesn't understand what's even good for him. I'm not even gonna go into all the inaccuracies within the post itself (because hopefully you can all see them), but I don't like what you're doing in implying that BB is somehow sabotaging the village by refusing to do what you want him to do. When is revealing your powers publicly something that is necessary to help the village? The information revealed in the thread goes straight to the Eliminators as well, and why should we trust you to be the one who gets it in a PM? For that matter, how did this even start?

    1. Joe votes BB for being elevated.

    2. BB says he's not going to reveal his powers publicly. Reasonable.

    3. Kynedath immediately votes BB for not revealing his powers without any reasoning. Later explains that he objects to blind following.

    4. Wonko goes after BB, places two votes eventually.

My votes will go on Wonko and Wonko. Basically this entire cycle has been Wonko ignoring BB's arguments and saying that he personally wants to know BB's abilities. He's been using language that mischaracterizes things that BB has said, and even deliberately tried to directly undermine BB's playing ability by declaring that BB doesn't understand the game.

  3. Wonko, my votes last cycle were placed because I had minor suspicion of the players that I voted on (you and Haelbarde). I built the RP around the votes.

Elbereth, to respond to your comment about PMs, I've actually had 0 this month. -_- Until I try for my Talent Pipes, I can't justify the tuition increase.

    About the thread in general:

I don't have a problem with RP votes. Being as poor as I am, I'm willing to do just about anything to decrease my tuition, and if that includes throwing votes on people without reasoning, so be it. Better you than me.  Not all of us are Vintish Nobleman with a storming 30 talent termly stipend. At this point in the game, even with the Masters' DP, the chances that anyone will receive consequences over "Make a Formal Apology" are really quite miniscule. Personally, I'm enjoying seeing the RP! It reminds me of some of the beginning games, where the atmosphere was a bit more light-hearted and less stifling. Plus, it's prompting me to do a bit of RP myself, and I know how much you guys have been waiting to see me write.  <_<

And Joe, I'll second that sentiment about not trusting people with statistics. For one thing, I don't get them  , and for another thing, based on the crazy things GMs have done in the past, I'm not sure how useful they are in determining likelihoods of anything. But one thing is for sure, stats are useful for filler and spawning discussion (like this!).

  4. I don't think that there's a whole lot of useful discussion that can be gleaned from Clanky's sabotage, and this has always been my policy on C1 deaths. Especially in this game, where nobody has a role at present, it's unlikely that Clanky was killed for some useful ability or information, and far more likely that he was killed simply because he is

    1. An experienced player who provides useful analysis

    2. A Vintish Nobleman with heaps of money

Imre is great, you guys, and assassins are on the cheap! Come visit anytime!

  5. WGG. Someone had to say it. It would be an awfully clever strat in the endgame to have a "clear" person who turns out to be a Skindancer. I'm not that paranoid.

    ----------------------

Kipper almost chuckled when he heard the news of Kliin's insanity. If not for the spoonful of soup in his mouth, he probably would have. The rumor (of course) was that Skindancers, of all things, had caused the insanity, but Kipper was havng none of that superstitious babble. No, it was more likely that Kliin's excessive use of sympathy had finally cracked him open like an egg. And to the crock pot he goes...The Noblemen's fetishes for Sympathy and all those more arcane fields never failed to amuse Kipper. They claimed to want power, but never even tried to network. They were obsessed with idea of power, thinking that it could be bought with talents. Nope. Though talent certainly buys power, thought Kipper, cringing inwardly at his horrible wordplay.

Kipper knocked back the rest of the broth and set his bowl down on the table. Leaning forward, he noticed the sun glinting off the spires of the University in the distance. He drummed his fingers on the table and looked down at his instrument case, seeming to suck the light out of the midday sun.

"So you can get me into the Eolian," he said.

    "Of course," the man responded.

  6. It's interesting that we'll need ten votes on a player to get them on the Horns, at least in these early stages of the game.

And how do we, as a village, kill the Skindancers? Suppose that we get a Skindancer expelled from the University. What happens then? Unless we get a mommet, or somehow force the Skindancers onto the streets, can we kill them? Perhaps I'm missing something obvious.

Also, Haelbarde and Wonko, you gotta help me out with this RP, my most fine fellows (<-- I hope someone gets that reference). No can do RP on my own.

  7. Well, Chef the ravioli-controller looks kinda awesome, but I couldn't find if he/she was involved in an RP prievously or just an up for grabs.

Hahaha! Chef was mine, and I used him for only a few posts. He wasn't involved in any other groups, so feel free to grab him and change the backstory around. By all means.

  8. Haelbarde, to respond to one of your comments...

...they [skindancers] don't have a straight out kill - they send people to the crockery first, and would have to target them again to kill them. Which strikes me as a really slow way of killing.

It would be a really slow way of killing if we had some way to detect them. But unfortunately we do not. We all have to "level up" in fields. And to be honest, what way do we have of killing the Skindancers, other than malignant Sympathy? Not much. So...yeah this game is gonna take a while. We have 24 players, and nine fields. It would take a Term and a half for all those people to be elevated in even one field, removing the possibility of people being double-elevated.

Now, discussion of what to do with EP. Obviously the best strategy for the Skindancers for this cycle is to pick a field (I would imagine Alchemy, Artificery, Naming, or Sympathy) and blitz it with all their EP. Assuming we have 4-6 Skindancers, this would be 16-25% of the entire game's EP, and most likely, a Skindancer would receive the elevation. From there, it gets a bit more complicated. I'm not sure at what point blitzing becomes a less than viable option...regardless, it's impossible to stop that strategy for right now except by the roll of the dice, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. As for me, my EP is going into one of the lesser fields, in order to gain at least one ability. I'll be going to Imre next month to try for my Talent Pipes, so if anybody wants a contract put on the market, or desires anything from the Apothecary, do PM me and let me know.

(Hmmm, I wonder if Wilson would give me free stuff and love if I continually put a contract out for protecting Hael--thereby ruining his death streak. What are your thoughts on this, Wilson?)

For everyone else...just do what you wanna do. There really is no master plan, at the moment, for us to defeat the Skindancers and take back the University, so put your EP wherever you want. I've got a few minor suspicions based on this thread already, but will keep them to myself.

Also, if there's anybody willing to take the tuition hit from PMing, hit me up.

  9. Kipper stalked up the steps to the University, each step making a too-loud snap on the stone.

It was only once month into Term 1 of the University, and already, already, it seemed as if the odds were stacked against him. The Vintish and Aturan Noblemen, at least, he had been dealing with for his whole life. The Yllish Commoners, he had quickly learned about. Kipper didn't understand, really, why the Yllish Commoners looked down on the Cealdish, but it was enough for him that they did. What he had not expected was the brutal sense of competition and avarice amongst his own people. We're all Cealdish!!!!, he wanted to scream. But lie and backstab they all did. And Kipper was done.

He reached the top of the steps and set off through the corridors, still fuming. He bumped into Sev, one of the absolute worst Vintish Noblemen, but didn't stop to apologize. "What's wrong, Kipper?" he heard behind him in a mocking voice, "Step on a bug in your shoe again?" Okay, that was it.

Kipper turned back around and marched swiftly back to Sev. He pulled the Nobleman aside and began harshly whispering to him. "That was a real issue, okay? Until you've suffered discrimination based off of things you can't control -- which you never will -- keep your (and here he punctuated each word with rather more force than was necessary) fat, Vintish lips closed.

Sev, of course (the brat), didn't even have the manners to look stunned by this. He just giggled, and shoved Kipper aside. Kipper just stood there for a moment, shoulders back, breathing heavily. Then he pulled some loose paper out of his bag and started writing feverishly.

Two minutes later, Kipper slammed open the door to the Disciplinary Office and strode up to the desk. He slapped down two sheaves of paper, one thick, one thin. "Here are two reports," he declared. The first is a rather exhaustive description of the bug-in-shoe incident two days ago, where Haelbarde committed an offense against my personage by inserting a spider into my shoe and not telling me. This offense was totally based on class infighting, but was reprehensible either way. I have included a vast amount of expository information and descriptions, as well as eye-witness accounts. I would appreciate swift retribution and punishment.”

    The teacher just stared.

“And the second is a smaller report on the microaggressions against me committed by Sev, including brief descriptions of his facial expressions, tone, and degrading, inhumanizing gestures.”

    The teacher just stared.

“So can I expect a swift ruling?” Kipper prompted.

The teacher slid the reports off behind the desk and nodded swiftly. “Yes, yes definitely. I’ll take these straight to the Masters. Good day!”

Satisfied, Kipper began the walk back to Ankers.

  10. Paranoid King. Something about your posts seems off.

Admittedly, I was largely inactive for the last few Cycles, and barely remembered to post in time, but I don't like your attitude. :P

Could it be perhaps, that you're an Eliminator who is using "being blocked" as an excuse to not use your action, and send in the Eliminator kill (Don't answer that, it won't help much)?

See, I'm always suspicious of kill roles who out themselves and say stuff like, "Well, how about we vote on who to kill?" See Ada in QF12, as one example. Asking the village to decide on who to kill gives you an out, if that makes sense. Rather than you having to publicly defend your kills, you can use the village's decision as a justification. And in this situation, as it seems, you can choose not to kill a possible Eliminator and claim that you were roleblocked.

Of course, all of these arguments could work either way. The real crux of my argument against PK is that he's doing the "democratic kill" thing. I do not like.

  11. Wassuuuuuuuuuup, dudes and dudettes?

    I'm here.

Hey, just wanted you guys know I'm here, but probably won't be discussing much today, because...D1.

Sooo, anyone got ideas for what to do with roles or plans?

To Braize with all that. JerleShannara, mind telling me your alignment?

    You too, ThatTinyStrawMan.
