  1. I was glad to see some other radiants as well - Godeke because he's probably what a regular (read: non-Lift) Edgedancer is like, and Zu because it was nice to finally see a Stoneward. I was also happy to see the Stump, even if her appearance was fleeting. They didn't have very much to do this book unfortunately, but perhaps Brandon didn't want to give too much about the other orders away. He has said that we wouldn't find out too much more about Edgedancers until the back 5, right? And that was the reason he wrote Edgedancer? Either way, I liked meeting some new radiants.
  2. ^Agree. The fact that he didn't "get rid" of Maya is a major plot point that ultimately caused the Honorspren to at least consider siding with humans again. That said, other than the obvious signs that Maya is slowly waking up, there was this little tidbit in a Vyre interlude: “I saw Prince Adolin throw his Blade,” Vyre said. “Three months ago, on the battlefield in northern Jah Keved. He is no Radiant, yet his Blade responds to him as if he were one.…” “Maybe it was just a lucky throw.” Vyre threw his Blade again. It clanged uselessly off his target. He narrowed his eyes, then dismissed it into a puff of mist. “No,” Vyre said. “He must be able to change the balance to allow for this maneuver. And it returned to him faster than ten heartbeats, even accounting for the accelerated pulse of battle.” That to me says that he's able to change certain things about Maya in blade form somehow, no? And we already knew about the less than 10 heartbeats thing.
  3. With regards to Lift going on the Shadesmar mission - apparently, it was an idea Brandon was toying with: Ugh, I can't wait until next week!
  4. This was posted on reddit: Obviously, what happened with Ym happened before Ialai's death, but it points to a certain MO, no?! Okay, I'm going back to lurking now.
  5. I'll take an Adolin to go, please (for reasons listed on a previous page). Regarding the competition, he's already pissed off just about every girl in the world, so...that won't be a problem, will it? I've always had a soft spot for Kaladin, but I agree, he doesn't seem like good relationship material at the moment. Lightsong would be fun just to have as a friend.
  6. Poor substitute, but I recorded the Q&A during the 1/23 Houston signing. No signing line recording, unfortunately. Inclement weather stinks.
  7. I asked Brandon this the other day at a signing, and he said that he was a little surprised by how many people were curious about Fortuity's weakness. He had thought it was one of the more obvious ones. It basically has to do with his fear of rejection by women and his desire but inability to completely conquer/dominate them. At least, that's how I understood it. I was a little starstruck at the time.
  8. Perfect! Thanks, you two! I'll bring a sandwich for him to sign too for good measure.
  9. Stupid question time! I'm attending the Houston signing tomorrow, and I was wondering if it looks bad to get him to sign a few paperback books. My copy of the Mistborn trilogy is all in paperback - it was the first of Sanderson's works that I've read, so...sentimental value.

    I exist!

LOL, metal is better than chocolate chips.
  11. Hi there, everyone! I'm (obviously) new here and just wanted to drop by and say hello. My first introduction to Brandon Sanderson was the Mistborn trilogy, but it was really the Stormlight Archive books that made me fall in love with his work. Now I can't get enough, and I'm even plowing through the Wheel of Time just to get to the last three books. I've lurked these forums for quite some time now, but I've benefited so long from all of your insightful discussions that I felt compelled to finally join. That, and I'm going to one of his Firefight signings and have no idea what questions to ask. Thank you, and I look forward to meeting you all!
